With the App Store literally crammed with action games and tower defense games, a fishing simulation may be the ideal choice to "unplug" and enjoy a genre that maybe we never thought could be fun. Fishing Kings does the job pretty well, give it a try.

World Cup on the iPhone is really a minor step forward compared to Fifa 10; the fact that this game is basically an enhanced version of the original N-Gage edition is a big problem, and EA should really think about investing on a brand new project to create a soccer game that lives up the quality of the Fifa series.

Even if classic football games represent a genre that is seriously hard to be adapted to the touch screen Fifa 11 is without any doubt the best, easily beating every other effort by the other companies.

Fastar! is an action RPG with an original kind of enemies, never seen before: squares. The RPG elements are very simple but the fighting against the different squares is more difficult than it can appear.

It's basically more of the same, but in a good way: Zenonia 2 will definitely please fans of the original game and those who are looking for a serious RPG on iPhone.

Another zombie game, another great tower defense. The videogames available on the App Store are becoming perhaps a bit monothematic, but it would be absurd to worry about these issues when someone publishes a gem like Zombie Smash!. This game is a blast, don't miss it.

The deep lack of personality and the flat gameplay make this survival horror just decent, but still overall better than the underwhelming Resident Evil 4 port.

The new maps are definitely good maps, especially the vertically crooked Kowloon, the vast Discovery, and the B-movie style Ascension, but the promised enhanced interaction with the environment is not so deep and complex as previously shown.

Crescent Moon and Galobeeth Games have succeeded in creating the greatest RPG on the App Store. The first journeys on horseback, though counties and deserts, strongly remember the great adventures in Morrowind or Oblivion, but the numerous negligences and technical issues ends up ruining the overall experience. Probably the game will be better and better with the next updates, but if you are looking for a true and deep RPG you should search elsewhere.

Even if Minotaur Rescue has its great moments, you shouldn't expect the same, disarming and hallucinogenic experience of the previous unforgettable Jeff Minter's games. Minotaur Rescue is a must-have for nostalgics of the Atari era: its control system is probably imperfect, but with some practice it proves to be entertaining and nicely chaotic. The new Llamasoft game is a true self-celebration that mirrors an old-time game developer and its golden era: Minter's followers will not be disappointed.

Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective is no doubt one of the best games for Nintendo DS in months. It's original, exciting and brilliant in some of its puzzle mechanics, while the plot and the characters are beautifully developed. It doesn't last too much, but the overall experience is worth it.

Mario Sports Mix it's not the best party game for the Nintendo Wii, but Square Enix managed to put together a decent number of sports that will surely entertain you and your friends.

Just like the prequels, Touchmaster 4 Connect is an appreciable minigame collection, and little more: the DS has seen much better competitors, and you should give this one a chance only if you own all of the masterpieces.

Kingdom Hearts re:Coded is the umpteenth filler in a franchise waiting for a deserved epilogue. This time around however there is not even a solid plot to excuse what's basically a remake of the first installment, made by a mixture of gameplay styles and situations. The game itself is not that bad, especially if you are a devoted fan of the franchise. On the contrary, you can just skip it as it is entirely forgettable.

It may be fun at first, but Devil May Cry 4 Refrain comes with a large number of limitations, both in terms of gameplay and graphics. The game is far too easy, with infinite continue, the combat is oversimplified and the locations are too small and too similar to each other. It's still a decent action game for your iPhone / iPod Touch, but we were expecting more.

With an incredible graphic, Samurai 2: Vengeance shows once again the power of iPhone. It could be considered a normal hack and slash, but the story, music and level design give to the game an added value. Gore and violence are present, but the anime-style makes the slow-motion final moves like an artistic view of the death.

With so many good twin-stick shooters on the App Store, Revolt just can't stand out. The main problem is about the bad level design, with always the same locations and a repetitive single-player mode. The equipment is fully upgradeable, but, even if it has some golden times, the game will bore you really soon. Finally, different levels of difficulty and unlockable achievements are not enough to replay the game a second time.

Miami Vindication, the second Gangstar game for the iDevices, can provide a more wide-ranging experience than West Coast Hustle, thanks to its bigger city, truly different vehicles and less repetitive missions. Unfortunately, some of the previous episode's issues are still there, including annoying pop-ups, lack of bug fixes, very few side quests and whimsical controls.

Galaxy on Fire 2 gives a sense of freedom never felt before on the iPhone. Every journey through the stars is simply astonishing, and there are many things that happens while trying to complete any quest. Every flaw of the first game has been fixed, and now the trading element plays an even more important role. Probably, more stunning battles and a better voice-over would have been appreciated, but actually Galaxy on Fire 2 is the most polished, deep and wide space combat simulation on the App Store.

Frogatto is a nice and cute platform game, which does almost everything right: it's not so great in terms of desing and sheer originality, but it's fun and engaging enough to be one of the best in its genre on iPhone.

A simple but solid franchise as Dark Nebula could only give birth to a high-quality sequel, but frankly we didn't expect so many new ideas. The graphics of the game, already excellent, have been further improved and now offer levels rich in details, well defined and unique. Episode Two is immediate and entertaining as Episode One, the tilt controls are very accurate and the action is characterized by a continuous introduction of new challenges to overcome. A must buy.

Iron Man 2 for iPhone and iPod Touch looks very similar to the console version, which is both a good and a bad thing: there are plenty of actions you can perform by using the armor, but the touch screen controls are often clunky and the difficulty isn't challenging enough.

Hybrid 2: Saga of Nostalgia is an action-rpg based on the journey of Gray, a young hero who is looking for a way to rescue his love Fairy. The game could be funny, however there are too many gameplay and technical bugs that ruin the overall experience.

Ozone represents iPhone gaming at its best: it's simple, fun, addictive, cheap and beautifully designed. Moreover, user-created levels make it a virtually never-ending experience.

While remarkable as a meditative and artistic experience, Osmos could not be considered a true winner due to the repetitiveness of his missions and a general lack of excitement for the player.

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit is a nice racing game, that provides hours of entertainment thanks to a good number of missions. However, the tilt controls seem to be a little inaccurate when it comes to rapidly avoid obstacles and perform powerslides, while there are several things missing from the previous episodes, like car tuning and an online multiplayer mode.

Modern Combat 2: Black Pegasus is an excellent FPS, with nice and accurate controls. The single player campaign is short but pretty intense, while the four online multiplayer modes offer hours and hours of entertainment thanks to the ranking system. Packed with some of the best graphics ever seen on an iPhone, this game definitely rocks. Don't miss it.

It's easy to instantly like The Incident, thanks to its original concept, frantic gameplay and cool visuals: however, the game dramatically lacks content, and the later levels become too much long and monotonous.

Call of Duty World at War: Zombies II is only interesting and nothing more. Nevertheless, for fans and especially for lovers of the genre, Call of Duty World at War: Zombies II remains a valuable opportunity for recreation.

BioDefense: Zombie Outbreak is yet another tower defense for iPhone, in this case with a somewhat original scenario and a very good mix of both interface and controls. What a pity it offers only ten missions and two weapons.

Alive 4-ever Returns is a really funny game, with a lot of enemies and weapons; the co-op mode is potentially infinite and the single player campaign is long and various. However, this sequel is just a "more of the same", without any innovation or difference. If you liked the first Alive forever, you certainly will love this Returns, but If you didn't like it, there's no reason to buy this sequel.

2XL Games is great about the graphics, but still needs to improve gameplay wise; Trophylite Rally is a beautiful, but ultimately boring and generic racing game.

What if Patapon converted itself in a tower defence game? Dinosaur Slayer is a brilliant App for iPhone/iPod Touch with a deep and structured gameplay that lasts for hours of fun and challenge.

Devil Invasion delivers a particular mix of puzzle game and tower defense that works good, with lots of stages to complete and four different spells to cast. Give it a try.

Denki Blocks isn't just a Tetris clone, but it's an original reinterpretation of the generic puzzle games based on blocks movements. The sensibility of iPhone's touch screen gives to the game a fantastic feedback. However, Denki Blocks has a random difficulty level so many schemes are too easy, other are too difficult.

Dead Rising Mobile comes as a boring and repetitive third person action game, with clunky controls and mediocre graphics. It has definitely nothing to do with the original game.

Funny and colorful, De Blob Revolution lacks of deep after few hours of play and has no multiplayer mode to extend the longevity. Still worth a try tough.

Cut the Rope is another App Store hit from Chillingo, and it could be considered as a killer App for iOS devices. A must buy.

With two different campaigns, two modes (standard and survival), a lot of stages and a great gameplay, Crap of Defense is an awesome action game for your iPhone or iPod Touch. The graphic style is also tremendously "trash" and funny. Don't miss it.

Even if it's less polished than Might and Magic: Clash of Heroes, chronoSgear can offer a truly fresh and uncommon experience, that is very different from any other RPG on the App Store. The combat system is clever, while setting and characters are really unusual. With the next updates, we hope Axion Logic will fix the controls and balance the difficulty.

Chopper 2 is a total evolution from the first episode: better graphic, more missions, more variety but the same fun. However, it's still just a simply arcade game; but if you are looking for an immediate and fun iPhone game, it could be the right choice.

A perfect example of how a GDR should be made. Square Enix has managed to develop a deep and involving story with a great combat system and a lot of things to do through the game. Must buy.

Although way better than the previous chapter, Blue Defense: Second Wave! is certainly less ambitious than Red Conquest. It must be said though that even if the game lacks any real additional mode, plot or multiplayer experience, the new units and the deeper control system will satisfy any hardcore gamer that thought the first Blue Defense was too easy.

Blokus is a clever and interesting board game, that will appeal both to casual and skilled audience; besides the repetitiveness, the only problem is that it's a bit too pricey.

More than just a game, BIT.TRIP BEAT is an enjoyable experience that combines sounds and images, encouraging the players to improve their performance through a series of trials. The four stages available in the basic version are well balanced, nice to see and full of sounds and colors.

Sword & Poker 2 is once again a perfect mix between rpg and poker, it delivers also a lot of fun regardless you have played the first chapter or not.

With Monster Mayhem a new kind of action game is born: the Tower Offense. So no passive defense, no war machines set in a battle camp, no position strategy; only violence, weapons and armament management, but of course with smile. Blood and comicality are wisely mixed in this game and if you are bored about the classic "tower defense" games, this is what you are looking for.

It's true, there are too many "ultra arcade games" on the App Store right now, and most of them become quickly boring and repetitive. But Monster Dash is slightly different: though the game keeps the classic "survival" structure, it gives you a health bar, four different stages and a lot of weapons to blast the enemies. If you like the genre, don't miss it!

1112 Episode 02 is simply unforgivable. Louis Everett has to interact with unappealing characters, trying to clarify a plot that gropes in the dark from the very beginning to the end.

Meridian has certainly done a good joob in creating a not-so-elaborate but effective game, with charming graphics and strong gameplay mechanics. Armageddon provides a lot of extra contents - from artworks to alternative game modes - and the OpenFeint support expands the formula with social features like leaderboards and achievements. Unfortunately, the 70 too-much-similar levels weigh against the final evaluation, while the high difficulty could demoralize some players.

Aqua Moto Racing 2 is a sequel with a lot of improvements; it's an arcade racing game of course, but the water's movement can give to the acquascoters some kind of realistic reactions; it's not perfect, but it's enjoyable, so if you like water races, you will love it.

AirAttack is a great arcade vertical shooter, with impressive graphics and original gameplay; to become perfect, it should have some more missions.

Nail'd is a decent off road game, with beautiful visuals and stunning track design, but it is not as rewarding and challenging as an arcade game should be. The greatest flaws of the package are that the game is too easy for a long time and the handling is just a walk in the park, causing a near boredom experience.

Raskulls is a bit of everything, from a platform to a racing game, quoting a lot of classic games with a fresh and cool appeal. It has a good multiplayer too.

Ilomilo is possibly the cutest puzzle game available on Xbox 360. It's even a well crafted and compelling game and one you shouldn't really miss if you don't get scared by games which may get tricky for your brains.

This new DLC does not succeed in becoming a must have for every gamer out there and case west ends up being reccomended just to Dead Rising hardcore fans.

Zeit 2 is a truly hardcore gamer shooter, which may get really frustrating on your nerves. If you are looking for an extreme experience this may be what you are looking for, otherwise you may want to steer away from it.

Dead Money has clearly been made for New Vegas veterans, it offers great longevity and ask you to forgive its trial and error structure. If you are a veteran and you like to try and fail, you should give this DLC a try.

You may love or hate Deadly Premonition and its pure heart hidden beneath errors, strange structure and PlayStation 2 graphics. Don't get fooled by the outside, there are plenty of good things hidden beneath this rough surface.

With its evolutions in graphics and level design, Dead Space 2 represents a "more of the same" in its best expression. Scary, challenging and entertaining, the Visceral's game confirms itself as the new paradigm of the survival horror genre.

Shadow Guardian is a nice third-person action adventure which does almost everything right: however, the sheer lack of personality makes it much less enjoyable than it could've been.

Gameloft has boosted the FPS genre on mobile devices... again. N.o.v.a. 2 is not only the most important game in its Winter lineup, but it's also the best first person shooter on iPhone and iPod Touch, thanks to an impressive multiplayer mode and a single-player campaign that combines a great control scheme with an extremely rare graphics. Of course, the game lacks of originality, while the plot is not so catchy. But it's an insignificant flaw, mostly if compared to the overall quality of the title.

Golden Sun: Dark Dawn is an excellent JRPG. Surprisingly, gameplay is extremely close to previous installments in the franchise and it's quite baffling Camelot did not dare to do more with this third episode. Despite this flaw in originality, Golden Sun: Dark Dawn is a well done and refined lengthy adventure but it does not win over Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Sky as the DS game of the year.

Vikings can fly! is just a funny way to spend some time, but it's really well done: a mix of strategy and madness, that can appeal to anyone.

Hero Project's gameplay is based on the same elements that made MMORPGs so popular: a customizable character that strengthens from gaining experience. The point is you have to complete a large number of mission in order to achieve that goal, most of which require literally hours of waiting but can be instantaneously completed by buying some (expensive) credits.

The 7th Guest is seventeen years old and it shows its age in a bad way. The problem is not only in its ancient technical aspect but in the puzzles too. These are just a few, nearly 20, and are extremely difficult to understand.

There are not many reasons to complain about Adrenaline, because it's certainly the best game in the Asphalt series. Asphalt 6 takes advantage of the iPhone hardware to generate impressive graphics with more solid framerate. With names like Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren, Ducati and BMW, the game can offer some of the most outstanding and various car licences on the App Store, while the single player mode can make player busy for several hours. Unfortunately, the multiplayer mode (online and local, via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth) isn't so good, offering only one type of challenge with just 6 players.

With its clever level design and smoothly implemented physics and controls, Hydroventure is a relaxing and charming, though very challenging experience and one of the best game currently available on WiiWare.

Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 could be an interesting mobile episode while waiting for the new Next Gen version; however, the bad control system makes this experience like a nightmare.

While TRON: Evolution came as a nice tie-in both on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, the Wii version is very different. Battle Grids comes as a simple, mediocre party game indeed, with some of the worst controls we've ever experienced on the Nintendo console.

MotoGP 2010 offers a good number of motorcycles and tracks thanks to the official MotoGP license, but in terms of gameplay it's a very cumbersome experience.

Beyond the unavoidable considerations about the suitability of a city-building simulation game as SimCity Deluxe to a portable device, it must be said that the EA title becomes a real blast after a few minutes in which you have to understand what to do and how to do it.

Pirate's Treasure is definitely one of the best twin-stick shooter available on App Store, but it suffers from the same negative aspects of other similar titles, and so it's repetitive and pretty flat all around.

Angry Birds has been a huge hit on the App Store, so it's pretty understandable that other developers wish to follow in its footsteps. The problem is Floop doesn't shine like Rovio Mobile's title: the controls are often inaccurate and it's less challenging, giving you the chance to complete too much levels in just a few seconds.

Pro Zombie Soccer is an action game based on a different approach to the genre of Tower's Defense. The game is funny and intense, the touch controls works very well and the variety is guaranteed by the different kind of enemies; the only big problem is that it lasts just about 2 hours.

Prequel of Solomon's Keep, in Solomon's Boneyard it's possible to use 7 little wizards, against a young Solomon Dark and his malefic creatures. The wizards attack the enemies with different kind of power, in an endless horde-mode; every character has a personal strategy, so variety and fun is guaranted.

Wispin is a nice "survival" action game, with a lot of different enemies to kill. The tilt controls don't seem to be accurate like the touch ones, while the presence of a health bar instead of a single life saves us from frustration.

Full of humour and action, Plunderland is a successfull example of simple mechanics implemented in a really good way. Every flaw will be fixed by the forthcoming update, with new levels and game modes. At the beginning it's not so easy to say why Plunderland is so special, but once you are at the helm it will be really hard to come back on dry land.

Hammer of Thor is a great first entry in the Rimelands series. Thanks to its charming dice combat system and the articulated skill tree, it is without any doubt one of the most enjoyable RPGs on the App Store. However, the game greatly stumbles in its storytelling, boring and full of clichés, while the adventure is too much linear and there are very few secondary missions.

ChuChu Rocket! for iPhone and iPod Touch is in some ways better than the original (thanks to the touch controls), but the lack of an online multiplayer mode is really deprecable.

Eternal Legacy brings a combat system which is classic and works well, impressive graphics and a very dense and long story. Of course it would have been better with a more original and genuine style, as well as a major depth of the characters and a deeper plot. But for just 5€ iPhone users can enjoy a game which is, together with Chaos Rings, one of the best JRPG's on the App Store.

With a mission-based structure, Virtual City ask the player to address practical issues in different cities. The result is an interesting title, with some problems concerning the interface.

BB 3D is an interesting "first person boxing" game, with reactive controls and good animations; however, it's not really a boxe simulator, but just a fun way to hurt monsters with an iPhone or iPod Touch. If you liked "Punch Out", give it a try.

Cave has succeeded in the attempt to create its first original game for iPhone and iPod Touch. The combat system is pretty different from any other twin-stick shooter on the App Store, while the frantic and caotic battles require you to move continuously, avoiding bullets and targeting enemies. Unfortunately, the high difficulty of the game could scare players that are not so tenacious, and the large amount of enemies, bullets and explosions on the screen will strain your iDevice to the limit.

Carcassonne is an amazing classic board game and this version for iPhone is his successfully translation. A solid online multiplayer, gameplay very close to the original game and a single player mode make it a valuable purchase.

Given the technical quality and the excellent matchmaking, Archetype is definitely worth a try for all FPS fans out there. The controls are great, the action is fluid and there is a good number of well-balanced weapons. The matches via Wi-Fi work very well and we experienced very few latency problems. Unfortunately, you can only play team deathmatch on five maps, so the game becomes repetitive very soon.

Game Dev Story is certainly one of the best simulation games on the App Store to date. Sadly it's not really optimized for iPhone and it lacks Game Center support or any other social feature. But it has several good irons in the fire, and the mix of humour and completeness recalls some classics like Bullfrog's Theme Hospital. Well, come to think of it, it's so comprehensive that it would deserve to be released on PC.

Some great graphics and an excellent gameplay can't hide the lack of content of Reckless Racing, a game that simply won't last enough. More courses and some kind of structure in the single and multiplayer would really have changed everything.

Real Racing 2 is not only the best realistic racing game on the App Store; it is also the best realistic racing game on every handeld console ever, setting a new benchmark for the genre in mobile gaming.

Death Worm tries to be more various than Super Mega Worm with a lot of irons in the fire, more than 30 different enemies and an interesting upgrading system. The game has some issues with the camera, but the forthcoming update should fix it and adds a new Survival mode. Yes, the visuals are impressive and there's a lot of stuff to play with, but the 8-bit style and the humour of Super Mega Worm make it more fun and enjoyable. Hopefully, the rivalry between them will force the developers to improve and enlarge the games with the next updates.

Ferrari: the Race Experience, waiting for Gran Turismo 5, is a good racing game based on realistic phisic and simulative gameplay; thanks to all the glamor that only Ferrari can give with its cars, and the budget price, the graphic problems can be easly overcome. So, for a PS3 fan of racing games in abstinence, it's highly suggested.

Blade Kitten is a controversial platform / action game, with some strenghts (Kit can do almost everything, from climbing the walls to fight with a flying sword) and some flaws (the level design is mediocre, the combat system is simplistic and there are some minor bugs). With its nineteen levels, the game will entertain you for a few hours.

Good script and visual style makes up for the lack of variety in Costume Quest and the adorable characters and villains are intriguing enough to appeal players into clearing the game. Turns based encounters are dull and repetitive although you can customize your characters through costumes and stamps, but they are just the main issue of the game. Double Fine released an enjoyable game for a cheap price and we hope for a sequel, perhaps next Halloween or even earlier.

Dimps Corporation had the not-so-easy task to release a sequel without making a remake out of it, keeping it trustful to the original game design while adding new features. As a result, Sonic 4 has its ups and downs and does not stand the top quality of the Mega Drive age Sonic. Nevertheless, Sonic 4: Episode 1 is much more "Sonic" than the latest entries in the franchise, a must-have for the hedgehog's fans and all those unlucky players who never ran in those fancy red shoes.

Earthworm Jim has not aged very much and this excellent remake still shows the timeless awesomeness of this character and his weird adventures. The game itself has quite aged actually and some features and mechanics make the experience more challenging than it should be. Nevertheless, Earthworm Jim HD is an enjoyable 2D platform game and a little bit of videogame history, a chance for newcomers to enjoy one of the best games back in the Sega Genesis age.

The concept here is actually quite intriguing, as such PixelJunk Racers 2nd Lap is a very neat arcade game. However, without mentioning the cheap visuals, the general game design is repetitive and frustrating, not really linked to simple control scheme and ideas such as these. It takes just a few minutes to realize PixelJunk Racers 2nd Lap is more about luck than skills, quite a negative feature for an arcade racing game.

This is not your usual cheap downlodable game, Aqua Panic's level design is excellent and the gameplay is smart and fun, focusing on strategy and reactions. In spite of being quite frustrating in the last stages, Aqua Panic challenge is what lovers of the genre want, especially when brought by such a gorgeous and colorful visual. It might not be innovative, but it is certainly a reccomended puzzle-game.

If you miss the good ol' times of Marble Madness and Monkey Ball, look no further. HamsterBall is an enjoyable game with dozens of excellent tracks and different game modes. It's fun and engaging but not flawless: visual style can be awkward at times and physics doesn't really always work like it should. However, for such a low price those are just minor flaws. And let's face it, hamsters are cute.
