Elden Ring proves that evolution is a beautiful thing. It retains the brilliance and difficulty of its peers while moving the genre towards a new era. Purists may despise the new direction but I think it retains the best mechanics while offering so much more.

I love Zelda and I really wanted to love this entry. If you’re looking for an open world sandbox with outstanding physics and mechanics, this is the game for you. Its graphics, controls, sound design and music are absolutely stunning. And despite my grievances, I still put in over 150 hours, even on an adult’s schedule. But I can perhaps see now why I dropped this game shortly after launch, it’s a less cohesive experience than Breath of the Wild, exemplifying not only its best qualities but also some of its weakest. Perhaps open world Zelda has reached its natural peak; will the next entry try to somehow top it, or will it return to the old formula that I seem to be hung up with nostalgia for? Time will tell.

The story of the game is a mediocre story, the gameplay is very enjoyable and attractive, in terms of visuals, it is equal to Cross Gen 2023 games and has a stunning visual, the main boss fights are very similar to each other. The sound design of the game is wonderful, the enemies have a good variety and only one new type of enemy has been added to the remake compared to the original version.

I do recommend this game, it’s exciting, new and a breath of fresh air for gamers who want character focused storytelling and gameplay. I give this game a 9/10 the only drawbacks are the scattered and confusing ending.

While Metaphor does not soar to the highs that Persona 5 did, this game is a truly exceptional RPG. Its turn-based combat is a lot of fun to engage with, the dungeons are massive and a ton of fun to explore. The characters have the same emotional depth that Studio Zero is known for, and its grandiose story will leave you on the edge of your seat. Metaphor: ReFantazio is a special game and it is worth your time.

Resident Evil 4 (2023) is a phenomenal remake of a fantastic game. With a twist on the excellent plot and some incredible new mechanics, this is great for newcomers and veterans alike. If you haven't experienced this dank and grim world, you are in for a treat. However, if this isn't your first rodeo, you'll adore the additional elements and the gritty and uncomfortable story.

Would I recommend it? Absolutely. The joy of solving puzzles together, the rich fantasy world, and the rewarding teamwork elements make Split Fiction a game that stands out in the co-op genre. Weather you’re enjoying the game with a partner who isn’t typically into gaming, or a friend that you’ve been gaming with for years, this is one of the best options out there.

Death Stranding 2: On The Beach hits the right balance of calm and chaos I was looking for. A fascinating world, with decent gameplay mechanics that, rather annoyingly, it keeps trying to trivialise.

Balatro is a fantastic rogue-like deck-builder. Additionally, the random nature of each round keeps you on your toes. However, it is pretty unforgiving and the repetitive nature of the core concept may put some gamers off.

Dead Space (2023) is an incredible remake of a much-loved game. With improved graphics, awesome sound, and amazing tweaks to many mechanics, this has to be seen to be believed. Furthermore, the seamless transition between chapters and the enhanced AI creates an immersive and petrifying experience. Consequently, this is one remake that won't let you down.

Spider-Man 2 is what we want from a sequel, a much better story building on the foundations that the previous versions built, improving the gameplay in every possible way while the previous games are already among the best in terms of gameplay, using all the PS5’s powers and turning the game into a completely next-gen game, next-gen visuals, extraordinary and non-repetitive level design, deep characterization at the disposal of the story, use of dualsense’s features, much more entertaining boss fights, much better cutscenes and much better animations.

DAVE THE DIVER is a fantastic adventure RPG. Can you take to the water and solve the mystery of the "Blue Hole"? Explore new locations, complete each quest, and help in the restaurant. I loved the aesthetics, the evolving gameplay, and never-ending content. Furthermore, it is great on Steam Deck.

For me, OPUS: Echo of Starsong had everything I could possibly want in a game. Rich storylines, interesting characters that genuinely have purpose and have their own motives, wonderful world-building and simply magnificent music. In fact, OPUS: Echo of Starsong holds a very rare accolade of being one of the very few games that have brought me to tears by the end—in a completely good way of course. OPUS: Echo of Starsong taps into your emotions with ease and utilises them exceptionally well to create a story that is not only beautiful but equally as heart-wrenching. OPUS: Echo of Starsong is a phenomenal tale that you simply must experience.

In conclusion, Like a Dragon is much more than just an RPG. It is a story with themes that go far beyond fighting, with memorable characters and epic scenes for all fans of the franchise. The turn-based gameplay is practically flawless, as it manages to bring elements of strategy and positioning without making the experience to demanding. Yes, the beginning can be slow, but what is “on the other side of the curtain” is an experience that deserves everyone’s attention, from casual gamers to the most demanding. It’s still early in the year, but Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth is undoubtedly one of the best games of 2024 so far.

The Talos Principle: Reawakened updates the acclaimed puzzle classic with impressive visuals, expanded narrative through the new "In the Beginning" expansion, and a robust puzzle editor for community creations. While graphical upgrades significantly enhance immersion, performance issues and uneven visual quality may concern some players. Though debated among original fans, the remaster provides enough fresh content and improvements to justify revisiting or discovering the philosophical puzzle experience anew.

Unicorn Overlord is a cleverly designed Tactics RPG whose strategic systems will hook its player early on. The openness of the map warrants a quest that is full of objectives that are all self-fulfilling and purposeful to complete. It does a fantastic job at teaching its tactics mechanics and excels at allowing its players to find their way to strategize against the countless enemy types to encounter. Unicorn Overlord’s captivating gameplay loop will trap its players into wanting to do everything they can to optimize their units. The narrative is not as interesting as its name ensues, but Vanillaware has proved that the name should be remembered as one of the strongest Tactics RPG to stand on its own. I cannot recommend this game enough to new or veteran tactics RPG players.

If you bounced off the first Death Stranding like I did, give this one a chance. It’s not just better, it’s a game that understands what it wants to be and respects the player in the process. Death Stranding 2 is still unique, still experimental, but it finally feels like a game designed to be enjoyed, not just endured. For me, it turned a franchise I only played to experience more of Kojima, into one I now deeply admire.

To put this as simply as I can, Dispatch is a game that will stay with me forever. It’s easily my game of the year so far and one of my favourite stories ever told. A tale of discovering a true identity, packed with emotion, comedy and romance, it’s more than I could ever have hoped for in an interactive drama. Add in the superb and unique gameplay mechanics, and AdHoc have managed to catch lightning in a bottle. Stunning visuals, pitch perfect audio design and a killer soundtrack make this the perfect game. I just pray the developers decide to revisit this world, whether that’s on television or hopefully another season in video game form. Bravo AdHoc, you have achieved true perfection! I’m going back to Dispatch!

Monster Hunter Wilds isn’t just another entry in the franchise—it’s an evolution. It embraces the core identity of the series while pushing boundaries in ways that keep veterans engaged and newcomers welcomed. Every hunt is an adventure, every battle a test of skill, and every moment in the world a story waiting to unfold. While the difficulty may not be as punishing as past entries, the fluid combat, stunning world, and refined mechanics make it a joy to play.
