Death Stranding might not be for everyone, but Hideo Kojima delivers here a unique universe, where you sometimes feel like you’re one with the game. I love: the BB cries that induce a visceral reaction in me, the music, the gorgeous scenery and the fact that Kojima gives enough room to the story. I hate: Kojima’s lucubrations and the dubious product placement.

A clever reimagining of a classic title, that preserves what we loved in the original Gameboy game, but in a way that’s easier to appreciate for a modern player.

Ancestors is a game that goes off the beaten track, literally and figuratively. It can be challenging at times, but it gets easier once you understand this simple trick: if you die all the time, it's not because the game is too hard. It's because you're doing something wrong.

Super Mario Maker 2 allows players to be much more innovative when they create levels, which makes them more fun to be played. If you like Mario, it's going to be hard to find a game with better value.

Contrary to the popular belief in the video game industry, more isn't always better, and Far Cry New Dawn is a great example of this. Its smaller scope compared to the regular Far Cry games improves the storytelling and the gameplay. It's a concentrated Far Cry experience that you enjoy from start to finish.

Red Dead Redemption 2 offers a world and a story so well crafted that it sometimes makes you forget you're in a video game. It's an instant classic, that will be talked about for a long time to come.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey comes close to be the best title of the series to date, with a much-improved narrative design, an interesting main storyline and an overhauled gameplay inherited from last year’s Assassin’s Creed Origins.

A great conclusion to a great trilogy. Shadow of the Tomb Raider offers a clever mix of storytelling, combat, puzzles and exploration that should please hardcore and casual gamers alike.

No character has ever been as fun to control as Spidey in Marvel’s Spider-Man when he swings his way through New-York. A polished and amusing game, although somewhat forgettable.

Detroit: Become Human takes the interactive movie genre to a whole new level, with a story that truly evolves with the choice and the actions of the player. If you enjoyed the previous Quantic Dream games, you’ll love this one.

God of War is a breathtaking adventure with lots to offer to hardcore gamers. It’s a good game that could have been great with a refined story, better characters and more variety in its combats.

Far Cry 5 improves on a well-established formula by adding mercenaries and removing many of the chores that defined its predecessors. The game is incredibly fun to play, but its story is lackluster and its uneven pace prevents it from reaching its full potential.

Shadow of the Colossus is nothing less than a masterpiece, a game that’s fun, artistic, sumptuous and intelligent all at the same time. Every gamer should have played it at least once. The PS4 edition is gorgeous in 4K and the improved controls are a welcome addition (although there’s still room for refinement).

The fact that PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds impacted the industry in such an important way, even with its many flaws, is a testament to the strength of its game design. It’s a brilliant multiplayer shooter, a game that’s incredibly fun to play and almost as fun to watch.

The Inpatient is a gorgeous VR game, but gaps in the story and a general lack of depth make it fall short of its potential.

Destiny 2 is more accessible to the neophytes than the first game was, but still complex enough to get long-time players to invest hundreds of hours in the universe. The story of the campaign is less confused than in the original, but it’s not exactly good either. It went from painstakingly bad to ordinary, which is at least an improvement. Destiny 2 is the gaming equivalent of a Michael Bay movie.

Nintendo has proved countless times that it can balance innovation and nostalgia like no one else, and Super Mario Odyssey is a great example. The hat completely transforms the gameplay, but at its core, it’s still really much a Mario game. It’s a game with many strengths and very few weaknesses.
