Dead Space is a potent combination of visceral glee and intense terror. This is the next generation of survival horror. Let's see if "Resident Evil 5" can keep up.

Psychonauts stays in your mind with its great gameplay, memorable visual style and storyline, as well as its persistently hilarous dialogue. It's easily the best platformer on the Xbox.

The combat is more intuitive, the narrative exceeds almost all in its genre, the plasmid and gun customizations are richer, the multiplayer certainly stands on its own, and the nods to the first game is undoubtedly valued.

The addition of an elegant new over system has completely changed the face of tactical combat, while the streamlined squad-mechanics are accessible enough to bring in new players, while still providing more than enough depth to allow veterans to dominate the battlefield.

A disappointing single-player campaign makes the game absolutely worthless to single-player only gamers, but anyone with an internet connection, a penchant for destruction and an appetite for something different should join this battle.

Like a finely prepared meal- great graphics and sound, finely tuned gameplay- that's been served in a dumpster- a poor singleplayer mode and Xbox Live implementation.

Incredibly different from anything else on the market, thanks to a great blend of gameplay styles and wonderful combat. Fairly linear however, and uneven difficulty can make some bosses frustrating.

Long after finishing the story the multiplayer will still hold its enjoyment. It offers a drastically different experience from all the other Live action games, making it probably the newest reason to subscribe to Live.

Burnout Paradise has taken several huge gambles in altering the already-winning formula of the franchise. For the most part, Criterion and EA have a winner on their hands.

New Super Mario Bros. Wii is the latest in a long line of grade-A Nintendo side-scrolling platformers. Loads of warm nostalgia mixes with fresh level design to form the most fun you'll have with the Wii this year (and probably well into 2010, too).

Resistance 2 is perfect example of epic storytelling at its finest. It innovates the FPS genre with a unique twist on co-op modes and large scale, and its 60 person fragfests breathe excitement into the title. It does fall into some conventional FPS trappings, like linear level design, but you can't fault the game too much because the entire experience from front to cover is so polished, you can practically see your reflection when you look at it.
