Time is running, and Skylanders now has some competitors to fight with. The new weapon of the brand is called SWAP Force. With its new figures to combine, the game takes a fresh start. Variety is expensive though: you'll have to buy again and again to avoid to be frustrated. Even with a certain amount of new features, the adventure keeps being very straight forward. But it's the most interesting episode anyway.- JeuxActu

Sonic: Lost World could have meant that the blue hedgehog was definitely back in the business. But the game goes exactly in the opposite way because of imprecise gameplay, a lack of clues in the way you have to play and a random rhythm. Fortunately, Lost World is a technical success and a beautiful game. Sonic Team will have to find its balance for the next chapter.- JeuxActu

Pokémon X & Y celebrate the transition to a full 3D world. And it's a strong success. Kalos is even more alive, gains volume and credibility. The battles improve too, the creatures have never been so real, so well-animated. This and only this can make you buy those games. On the other hand, Pokémon is still the same title, and X & Y keep making the gameplay evolve little by little.- JeuxActu

If you know the "Fable" comic or not, you can only admire the work Telltale Games has done with The Wolf Among Us, in terms of genuine ambiance and graphic style. Very special, this universe mixing fairy tales and modern thriller works just fine in an adventure game. The tradeoff is easy enigmas and only some rare QTE will require a hint of thinking. But that's the burden of that kind of game and we know since The Walking Dead that it's possible to enjoy such a gameplay. All in all, the only unknown thing is the content of the next episodes of the series. Will we be overjoyed or disappointed? Anyway, we're eager to see the follow up.- JeuxActu

Seducing with its dragon theme, free to play and quite well done as it even offers advanced housing, Dragon's Prophet is an MMORPG which does not look ridiculous. But we do have to admit that it lacks some punch to be able to compete against the genre's stars because of poor polish, an old graphics engine, dull quests and a small amount of races and classes. We note that those drawbacks could be improved by an update overtime which allows us hope. But is trying Dragon's Quest enough to get hooked? Not really but at least it's free to try.- JeuxActu

Beyond: Two Souls is really difficult to judge with the usual tools because it’s such an unusual game. Let’s say that this one manages to impressively overcome its faults to deliver a truly unique experience. Gameplay in Beyond is only a way to include you, to make you participate to this emotional journey and to make you touch the heart of the game, its masterpiece: the story and all the narrative aspect that comes with it. The kind of game you remember for a long time.- JeuxActu

With one episode of Just Dance every year, it's obvious that you can not expect many changes for each of them now. Even if Just Dance 2014 is one of the best games you can share in a party, the IP is kind of stuck in its concept since Just Dance 3. Beware of the burnout.- JeuxActu

If you already have the previous one, you really don't need this Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate. There is not enough new features and content to justify the opening of your wallet. However, huge fans, wealthy players and new challengers would probably try the five new characters and levels, as well as the Power Blow.- JeuxActu

By listening to its community, Bohemia Interactive is selling us the most well-polished ArmA yet to this day, with numerous options for in-game content creation. With an exceptional graphics engine allowing a superb rendering and well evolved physics ArmaA imposes itself as the reference of infantry sims. With a very demanding gameplay, ArmA 3 claims its elitism and raises it as a dogma to face the competition. Quite unfriendly to the newbies, Arma can disappoint by its obvious lack of initial content, which should be vastly improved by the community through the content creator toolbox. Unique for its tough challenges hence the feeling of deep satisfaction when you complete a mission, ArmA 3 sets itself as the playground of elite gamers.- JeuxActu

Like all annualized sports franchises, NBA 2K14 is coming at the end of a cycle and of an era. Even though the next gen version is nearing completion at Visual Concepts, the devs didn't forget about fine tuning the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions, adding exclusive content and a sleeker gameplay. Overall, NBA 2K14 gained in rhythm, the dribbles are easier to manage and the defense system rocks. Add to the mix new crazy animations and you'll have a good picture of what NBA 2K is today. We can also enjoy the presence of Euroleague even if the 14 available teams (not including France) are restricted to exhibition matches, which brings some fresh air to the roster. On the other hand, we were let down by Lebron James's mod "Path to Greatness", badly made just to justify the King's presence this year. But those drawbacks are quickly forgotten because NBA 2K14 still reigns as the master on the court.- JeuxActu

For once, FIFA 14 could divide its fan base. Being more and more realistic, the game becomes more and more demanding. Don't misunderstand us: this is the main reason why FIFA 14 is better than FIFA 13. Passing the ball, building your chances: that's what this new FIFA is about. And exceptional players are only a solution if you make them play for the team. With the new features in Career Mode and the release of a 2-players Seasons Mode, it's certainly the best FIFA ever, and the best football game for now.- JeuxActu

PES 2014 shows that Konami knows exactly what they're aiming for and what to do to catch up with EA's FIFA. FOX Engine doesn't provide exactly what we were expecting from it, but it offers a real good physics engine. No need to say it will probably reach its peak on PS4 and Xbox One. This all new PES is a true football simulation, with some problems and glitches, but also with some good ideas like the Emotion system. These kinds of ideas, added to gameplay features from FIFA, could make the difference in the next ten years.- JeuxActu

Outlast is the pleasant surprise of fall 2013, a true survival-horror game with old-school gameplay and a very scary atmosphere. Fear is what it's all about and that's what you're going to find inside Mount Massive Asylum, and it already makes the game a success. With a very well-made storyline in spite of a touchy ending, Outlast is definitely a reference title rivaling Amnesia or Forbidden SIREN. In spite of some problems which are largely due to the tight development budget, hence the small retail price of 20€, the game will provide gamers with a deep dive into the most dark horrors, which will make you forget the ultimately minor faults that Red Barrels let slip pass. A title that will scare future PS4 owners for sure.- JeuxActu

What genius. Rockstar Games are still at the top level of open world videogames and they want everybody to know it, especially the rival titles. They will need a lot of creativity and great ingenuity to take the crown from the grip of the king GTA 5. No matter what happens next, a video game has never reached such depth in its gameplay. Gunfights from Max Payne 3, the exploration system from Red Dead Redemption, the driving system from Midnight Club: simply the best from the best. Simply perfect.- JeuxActu

Above all, Puppeteer is a game which brings something new: its outstanding art direction (as it often is with Sony Japan), its inspired universe and its very cool features. Its purpose is to be played by daddys and sons together, but Puppeteer should make indy game fans very happy as they will be hanging on till the end of Kutaro's story.- JeuxActu

If you haven't played with your PS Vita for months, maybe Killzone Mercenary is the title you're waiting for. It's honestly one of the best games ever made on Sony' console, and the best since Soul Sacrifice. One Piece: Pirate Warriors surprised us a bit two years ago with its platform levels which offered some variety and let the player breathe a little outside of the battlefield. Forget this with One Piece: Pirate Warriors 2. Quick Time Events levels are not even included, the story has been pushed aside, only to give the fans what they want: more new characters and more new battles. Too bad.- JeuxActu

After years of well-founded hopes, we can say without any doubt that Diablo 3 succeeded in arriving on consoles. The HUD has been cleverly modified and you don't have to be connected to Internet or to the fateful Auction House anymore. Talking gameplay, the possibility of playing up to four players on one screen is a really good idea. It's just a shame that such a porting stayed in the dark for more than one year. Anyway, if you don't care about PC's, go for it now.- JeuxActu

We believed in Lost Planet 3. Capcom wanted to come back to the origins of the series, focusing on solo mode and had some good arguments to get us absorbed again by the planet EDN-III's atmosphere. Everything is here: a nice character, efficient gameplay, and interesting content. But nothing really makes Lost Planet 3 a really big game. Graphics aren't that impressive, really commonplace and the game lacks of rhythm and epic moments. Nowhere near the first episode.- JeuxActu

Rome 2: Total War suffers from the same problem as the former episodes: a really poor finish for such a great game. It's a good thing that you can forget this thanks to the quality of the new Creative Assembly game and its strategic richness. With better polish and an add genius touch, The Bureau: XCOM Declassified could have been a great game. But for now, it's old technique, it's bugs and numerous incoherencies don't let this game into the hall of fame of videogames. Happily, the worthy gameplay, the 60's ambiance and the XCOM universe are here to salvage the game. The mix between action and strategy works well, and the choice in dialogues brings a cool RPG touch. In the end we go through missions with quite an enjoyment in spite of all this, and we don't leave the bureau that easily.- JeuxActu

Payday 2 is undoubtedly the biggest surprise of august 2013. We were not expecting a game of such a quality from Overkill Software, moreover if you experienced the first episode of the serie. Even the price of 30 euros was leaving us skeptical, but Payday 2 hacks your brains with its intense and addictive gameplay. It's simple and it works, outpacing the ad's promises. With an almost unlimited replayability, payday 2 will challenge your brains with multitasking between a heist to manage, a team to keep alive and hordes of aggressive copas. Simply brilliant!- JeuxActu

The Wonderful 101 isn't a good surprise. Doomed buy very repetitive gameplay, the good ideas the game carries are drown into the mass, and can't make you forget about the faults. It's quite sad because Platinum Games's title is one of the few to take the risk of actually using the console's gamepad in another way than displaying a loadout or a map (at least sometimes). The design is quite close to Viewtiful Joe and is one of the strong points of the games, but here too, the limited power of Nintendo's console and the light work done to graphics from the Japanese studio are seriously holding back the potential of the artistic lead. In brief, we're far away from a System-seller game.- JeuxActu

Capcom could have played it lazy for this Remake of Duck Tales, but the Japanese studio instead decided to pay tribute to one of it's most mythic games of the Famicom Era, by bringing us this fully reimagined version of the game. Sure, some things haven't changed like the gameplay or the levels that made its success, but the work on the visuals is such a bliss, and the new content surely enough too keep you entertained, even 20 years after the first dip in that adventure which left us so many memories. And for the younger players, it's the right time to discover an excellent platformer game.- JeuxActu

Saints Row 4 takes a turn towards TPS through a scenario change. As President of the United States, the game will put you in a hero role which will make the gameplay deviate towards a gaming experience closer to Prototype than to it's own ancestors. The legacy is not forgotten as the crazy side of things is still pretty much a central point, and of course the specific sense of humor which is the game's signature. With a main quest taking around 15 hours and many more side missions providing a wealthy lifetime, Saints Row is grieved by lots of small faults, chief among them the awful graphics it displays.- JeuxActu

Splinter Cell: Blacklist wanted to go back to basics. By throwing a handful of RPG elements into the games, Ubisoft signs a great Splinter Cell that in spite of some faults, is a rightful heir to the franchise. Without revolutionizing the genre, it should seduce without trouble any lover of the genre or any fan of infiltration games. Powered with a powerful scenario and a well known graphics engine, Tom Clancy's franchise hands back a clean work without revolution but with enough evolutions to please the gamers.- JeuxActu

Haters can have fun criticizing Nintendo for hours, but the Kyoto firm shows a remarkable knowledge with Pikmin 3. If the graphics, no matter how cute they are, can't hide the technological gap already existing between the Wii U on one hand and the PS4 and Xbox One in the other, the game has nothing to learn in terms of level design or gameplay. Very clever when it's about dividing Pikmins in 3 separate groups, the game shows that the concept is still worthy. We regret, nonetheless, that the GamePad hasn't been able to present itself as absolutely necessary, making Pikmin 3 an evolution rather than a revolution.- JeuxActu

Every Animal Crossing fan was impatiently waiting for this game. New Leaf holds on it's promises, by playing as the mayor or the city, you will enjoy absolute power, and the customisation possibilities are almost endless. You'll be able to let you imagination float away building and governing the village according to your style. The new stuff in terms of online social interactions do bring a true value to this game which still stays very repetitive. Beware, boredom isn't far away. Nevertheless, the fans oof the series will most likely enjoy this game for many hours.- JeuxActu

Civilisation V: Brave New World is the last brick added to Sid Meier's game. The arrival of this DLC allows the player to enjoy the complete experience of the famous strategy game. Sold for 30 euros, this DLC is a must-have for avery Civilization fan. While the game came out looking pretty empty, the DLC's have added features that puts Civ V back on it's tracks, giving it back it's status of strategy same's reference. If the content are close to perfect, it's quite sad that Fireaxis and 2K made us go through two main DLC before we can have the feeling of what should have been Civilization V at start.- JeuxActu
