Like "Mario Party," " Bust-A-Groove," and even "Tetris" and assorted Tetris-clones, Samba De Amigo forces you to have a good time despite the fact that you don't want to caught dead shaking a pair of plastic maracas in front of your friends.

It's not a huge improvement over the last in the series, but then the series doesn't need much improving to begin with.

Like "Sonic" and "Crash," Spyro grabs on and doesn't let go, and the complexity of the levels, hidden games, and non-stop action make it one of the year's best platform games.

While on the highest difficulty the realism is still a little overwhelming, there are many driving aids to keep you on the track and keep the game fun.

Best of all, the enemy's AI is fairly ruthless and will put up a good fight.

Smoother, faster animation (the game runs at 60 frames per second) and awesome lighting effects dominate the game's look, while transparency filters, water effects, and background movements round out the spectacular visuals.

This is one beautiful title to look at, despite the rather lackluster character designs.

A step above the arcade driving of "Ridge Racer," and a little more serious than the "Need for Speed" series, but it still doesn't beat the granddaddy of great racing games ("Gran Turismo").

A definite improvement over the first 3D title in both control and camera viewpoint.

Think of it as something akin to the original "PowerStone" -- but with a hell of lot more firepower, and an even more sinister setting.

Tedious micromanagement kills the fun before the going gets good.

A definite purchase for snowboarders and extreme sportsters who have finished playing "Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2" and "Dave Mirra BMX Freestyle Racing."

The Roseanne of racing games. Some may say it has substance, but man, is it ugly.

Crude presentation and lackluster humor can't save this game from the trough.

Great graphics, excellent sound, solid control, and lots of replayability. Eons of fun!

Basically, though, this is the same game as the original -- the differences being more units, a better play balance, new campaigns, a new leader-based combat system, and obviously updated graphics.

There's nothing in AMSH2 that warrants a commendation. Give this company an honorable discharge already.

The frame rate is pretty bad and arenas are generic, but player models look detailed, at least.

What really makes the game, though, like the first, is the overall racing atmosphere.

But to beat the horse to death even more, there are precious few events (no swimming events, which is disappointing), and some of the events seem like odd inclusions (trap shooting?).
