It's almost impossible to ignore the game's graphical flaws -- specifically, its propensity to suddenly switch from high-res to low-res mode in the middle of a race, taking the frame rate south with it.

More likely to drive you insane than put you to sleep, counting these Sheep is a treat for die-hard puzzle gamers.

Brief, nonsensical, infuriating and exhilarating, this is the perfect antidote to bland wrestling games and sub-par RPGs. Sexy fantastic!

It seems cliché to say it, but there's just not much new here, and what is new (the higher difficulty) is not welcome.

Even if you dig Pikachu's act, the "game" is ultimately a spirit-crushing, mind-numbing exercise in tedium.

Once you get the controls down, you're in for the greatest board meeting of your life.

Better than bad is sometimes still pretty bad, and that's the case here -- though at least the frame rate is not so piss-poor as to be completely unplayable.

There are only about three really great N64 first-person shooters, and this is one of those three.

This is by far the best-looking basketball game currently on the market, the only negative being some jarring motion-capture transitions.

Too short and not polished enough.

If you bought last year's version of FIFA, you basically already own this game.

    SSX
Stellar arcade-style fun and one of the best games for the PS2. It's only hampered by some mild slow-down and a steep difficulty curve.

More of a thinking man's boxing game, full of strategy, personality, and fire. Take the career mode for a spin and you'll fell all the pain, frustration, and joy that a boxing career will bring.

The Cleveland Cavaliers of the video hoops world: not the worst team in the league, but lacks flash, is thin in the middle and an absolute non-factor in the playoffs.

A game that captures the essence of why most of us started playing games in the first place -- skill, speed, innovation and style, with gameplay that's as fun to watch as it is to play.

The tracks are in great number and you have the ability to change the time of day as well as the weather, ensuring the most brutal of settings for any off-road excursion.

Take KISS out of the picture and you have a mildly entertaining shooter that does an adequate job of shooting things up. But if you're a KISS fan expecting lots of face paint and heavy guitar riffs, forget it.

If you ever get the tricks down (and we're still trying), the game could be fun, although it's no "Tony Hawk," which it tries to emulate in style and form.

Q-Ball does a good job of "simming" pool for professional players, and thereby seems more real then "Real."

Believe it or not this is one of the best of the PS2 launch titles, and one of the best puzzle games anywhere.

Like the Dreamcast version, the game seems to short, but that could be because it's so much fun to play, and you definitely extend the fun by competing against multiple human players (you can play up to four with a multitap).

One of the best looking fighters so far for the PS2, it eclipses "Street Fighter EX3" and "Tekken Tag Tournament" for beauty.

If you love golf, you'll love this game, which is based on the "Hot Shots" engine. The course redraw is fairly quick, the courses are well-developed, and the characters are hyper-realistic.

It doesn't take a skateboarding fan to be a Tony Hawk fan -- this is just a fun game that PC gamers won't want to miss.

It's all the worst traits of arcade racers thrown together, exaggerated to the point of grotesqueness, and then slapped into a game that's at best a visual mixed bag.

Relying too much on its past as other more advanced games pass it by, the series is fast becoming one for diehard fans only.

While it's not going to set anybody's house on fire, it's a title with broad appeal that's as worthy of being a top launch title for the system, as the original Ridge Racer was.

Once again the AI needs tuning and the graphics need optimizing. Otherwise, though, this game is still as fun on the PS2 as it is on the PSX, and with the new range of customization options, you're sure to find a gameplay style you like.

Though it borders on the frustrating side of difficult, it's a visual treat and certainly a worthy purchase for new PS2 owners.

The score gets dragged down just a bit by the short length and some AI problems, but this is still a fun game.
