The lack of a coherent story will also limit the appeal of Urp! but if you stick with it, it is a simple, enjoyable puzzle game.

Tree Wars is a great looking strategy game with enough depth to keep you playing for hours. While the difficulty does rise considerably, it never feels unfair and actually gives a cause for replayability. If you’re a strategy fan and want a fix on the move, you can’t do much better.

Fans of the genre are better off downloading the (admittedly) pricier iOS ports of Cave’s excellent shooters like DeathSmiles and DoDonPachi Resurrection, or Dotemu’s R-Type ports, for a look at how this type of game should be done.

Retrobooster is a very difficult game, but is still highly enjoyable. Once you master the controls the game becomes a lot easier and a lot more enjoyable. The levels are intelligently designed and the variety makes each one feel like a totally new experience. The art, soundtrack and story may not be the best, but the gameplay and incredibly fun multiplayer make up for it.

The gameplay is thoroughly repetitive and uninspired, but this undemanding approach does allow you to enter a sort of Zen-like state of relaxation, while still feeling like you are completing quests and achieving something. For most however, there is very little in the way of an actual game on offer here.

You will get irritated by the precise timing needed to avoid obstacles, as well as the repetitive music and gameplay, but there remains a strange satisfaction when you do.

Whether you are a fan of the source material or not, the production values are excellent, there are plenty of options as to how you view and take part in the action, and the power of the modern game console allows Zen to do things that no traditional pinball cabinet could ever do. Excellent then, and well worth a look. May the force be with you.

There is nothing to offer in terms of longevity after the eight levels have been completed, but as this is a download title, you get a fair amount of retro-style carnage for your cash.

Just Colors is as simple as puzzle games get, but with a good approach to building upon a basic, easy-to-understand idea.

A solid extra mission, but that’s really all it is. Worth picking up if you’re desperate for some more, and given the replayability factor of the campaign as a whole and the seven possible ways to ship Adolf to the farm, it might last you a little while if you’re the type who chases those leaderboards or loves to squeeze every drop out of every mission.

The game is incredibly hard at first, but it rewards perseverance. Even with the old school design, Rogue Legacy is filled with a sense of discovery that helps make it so great. This is something that I will be playing for a long time, and you should too – it is that damn good.

The on-track action in Touch Racing 2 would legitimately be some of the best on mobile devices if it were a bit more challenging.

This is another brilliant table from Zen, who seem to have developed a knack for both innovative table design and how to put a licence to good use.

We are starting to sound like a broken record here, but Zen’s mastery and understanding of both table design and expert use of a license put them right up there with the best that gaming 2014 has to offer.

If a straight-up South Park table wasn’t great enough, imagine our shock and delight at finding out that there’s also a second table based around everyone’s favourite little guy – the one and only Leopold “Butters” Stoch.

Don’t be put off by its claims of spreading maths to the masses – it never feels like a lecture. Any improvements to your number skills seem more like a happy coincidence, as Twelve a Dozen entertains more than it teaches.

It's a good start to the DLC schedule, but might not be enough just yet to get people to commit to the full Season Pass. The maps are well designed with lots of fan service and the new mode is a very welcome addition.
