This game is motivating like The Sims, but packed with action – and the Special Edition with laboratory levels is even worth buying for gamers who have the original game: 30 levels and a level editor. Well done, Hello Games!

Ace Combat: Assault Horizon Legacy is a pretty cool arcade-flight simulation on the 3DS. There is absolutely no game that can challenge Namco's jet-game. The 3D-effect is stunning and the controls are well-planned. It could have been an awesome game, if there were multiplayer modes, a better use of the 3ds features and a bit more content. Nevertheless, on the long run, it's a solid game.

Grease Dance has, like many other dancing games, huge problem with its inaccurate Move-control. No recommendation for this game, although the idea of a "Grease" dance and sing game is terrifying.

It's a arcade racer with different game modes and a campaign. The campaign has no story or anything like that, the vehicle damage model is pretty bad and the innovative points system is not entirely thought through.

Camping Mama: Outdoor Adventures offers a new setting full of new and typical Mama minigames. Everything is cute and lovely, but I bet the game targets only children and hardcore Mama fans. There is nothing unique or special to the game and the graphics aren't state of the art.

Clones is a clone of the good old pc game Lemmings, but the developer managed to port the game into modern age. There are 150 levels, a map editor, LAN and online multiplayer and a cute setting. Fact: It's a cool game for it's price.

Cooking Mama 4: Kitchen Magic is the newest installment in the Mama series. 505 Games released the game on the 3DS – why is a secret to everybody, as the game doesn't use the unique 3DS features. The rest of the game is good old Mama gameplay, which could have easily been released on the Nintendo DS.

Having loved the game back in the 90s, I was disappointed with the remake. The graphics could have been a lot better, the multiplayer was great back then but with small, monotonous maps an a dearth of game modes is pretty weak by today's standards Surprisingly, the solo campaign is pretty solid, though the story is shallow. Luckily Daniel Craig lent his original voice and visual appearance to the game, so you can play a cool Bond character.

A fantastic world, good gamepaly particularly in multiplayer and fitting sounds – Trine 2 has it all. The Collector's Edition with artbook and download code for the original is a half-price game to boot. If you hate skill games or thinking, skip it. Otherwise, there's no excuse to pass this one – one of the hidden gems 2011.

A rebalanced Marvel vs. Capcom 3. Are 12 new fighters and 9 new arenas worth the purchase? Tough call. But if you're a fan of fighting games and don´t own the original, you should get. It's definitely fun and offers a vast selection of fighters.

Move Fitness does what it claims to do: it makes you sweat and pushes you to your limits. Being able to repeat single workouts or try out a whole new program is fun and definitely helps you get in shape. Its biggest downside is the integration of ball games as they're not as accurate as they need to be. For work-out enthusiasts and fitness wannabes this title is worth a look.

A great 2011 edition needed only small improvements to become the best football manager game in 2012. A combination of great emotion and an incredible in depth management experience makes the Football Manager 2012 a must have for all soccer fans.

This year's WWE wrestling game appears in perfect shape, though it lacks real innovation. The latter however may well be due to having hit the Nintendo console's glass ceiling. If you own Smackdown vs. Raw 2011, you might as well skip it, otherwise: ring the bell!

L.A. Noire offers a film-like play experience, with you the male detective lead. You should really want that, because the easy action parts are mostly there as a diversion – detective work is at the core. There's minor flaws like the weak AI, but hobby criminologists surely can live with that.

NyxQuest: Kindred Spirits with its gameplay ideas is an interesting take on the jump'n'run genre, the play experience mostly sullied by unfair checkpoints. On a technical level, the PC version can't however deny the Wii roots. And Topware's box version is flat-out overpriced.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is by far the best RPG experience of the year and even better on PC. The huge and wonderful province of Skyrim serves as a great setting for an even greater story evolving around a mystical hero.

It's all that we hoped for: many hours of fun, great coop and countless riddles. A high replay value, too, as some side quests aren't even completable without the right character. Rarely has the gaming universe seen a better final part to a series.

The water physics in Hydrophobia: Prophecy are great, but nearly all other aspects of this indie game fall noticably short. The introduction and tutorial are good, as are the water effects. Mostly, we're looking forward to seeing what Dark Energy can deliver with the next game.

RPGs and pop culture in general could use some good satire. Grotesque Tactic 2: Dungeons & Donuts has the right idea with bizarre characters, fitting retro graphics and brilliant spoken dialogues. But being more linear than most RPGs – main target of the satire – is a no-no, and the excessive number of fights is so 80s dungeon crawl (or Diablo). Thus, I would only recommend the game to real RPG enthusiats – who will find themselves reminiscing on various genre high- and lowlights throughtout the years.

It is a nice and solid remake of a good game in an amazing series. The graphics may be a bit disappointing and the story takes a little to really take off, but then the game is simply fantastic. RPG fans will fall in love with the great story and its orchestration. Though not as good as its successor, Persona 2 has a unique game play, including the spreading of rumors and negotiation with demons, and a great variety of personas to be summoned. If you love classic RPGs, you should order the game today and dive into the world of Sumaru City.

After Super Mario 3D Land, Nintendo has another hardware seller in Mario Kart 7. While Super Mario 3D Land redefined 3D jump'n'runs, Mario Kart 7 sets also new standards for fun and arcade racers. Mario Kart 7 offers the deepest multiplayer experience in the franchise, but that's not all. It's the cool mix of good old features and fresh gameplay elements, which makes the game so cool.
