The broader issue, though, is one of time: time you spend waiting for pretty much everything to happen. Or, to be even more specific, time you spend waiting for crops to grow so you can harvest them, since that's more or less the entire focus of Farming Simulator 16.

It won't necessarily appeal to everyone, but if you're the target audience, rest assured EDF 2 on the Vita will hit all the right buttons.

MonolithSoft has created an entire world to explore and dig into, and they put that world in an RPG that already feels like one of the most important RPGs to date.

It's digital board gaming at its most basic, with a surprisingly sincere effort from a developer that seems burnt out on the genre.

There's lots to do, with at least 15 hours of core content for those sticking to the main plot, and more importantly for the next expansion, a bar has been set for what players could expect.

Despite being a complete departure from the original, Fat Princess Adventures is worthy of a look. Players who have never played the original games may find this a great way to get into the series.

If somehow, Nintendo thinks due to the price gouging, people want this and they restock it, wait for a price drop.

You don't need to rush out and download it this instant, though. No, that's an honor you should give to Runner 2 — which, again, is a must-play for anyone with any of the many, many systems on which it appeared. The BIT.TRIP is more an after-dinner mint: it's certainly enjoyable, but not quite as good as the main course.

It’s an original concept and a very unique experience. Not to sound like a broken record, but Among the Sleep feels like it’s over just as it’s getting into its groove and that’s really my only major complaint.

Don't take any of this the wrong way: Bombing Busters is a fine game for what it is, and considering Bomberman itself isn't on either the Vita or the PS4, it will make a fine substitute (because, as far as the latter console goes, the less said of Midnight Crawl/Brawl, the better). But if you want anything more than that out of it, you'll be a little disappointed, since there's nothing here that hasn't been done (at least 75 times) before.

If we cannot have an actually F-Zero, FAST Racing NEO definitely is a great substitute. This is a fun and challenging Wii U racer that will keep you entertained for a long while, and an outstanding experience especially for a relatively unknown indie studio.

Obviously, your feelings on Dariusburst Chronicle Saviours will differ from mine greatly if you're more favourably inclined towards shmups in general. If you like the prospect of getting a few thousand shots at refining your shmup abilities without the hassle of changing games, then this is absolutely the game for you. It's visually appealing, the controls are intuitive, and it's pretty well-made overall. Non-shmup fans, however, will probably find the experience much less worthwhile.

Here's how much I love Dynasty Warriors 8 Empires: my only complaint is that there's no autosaving, which meant I once lost about half a continent. I figure that any time my complaints can be totally chalked up to user error, that speaks volumes about how good everything else is — and it explains why I think that if you're looking for one Warriors game that shows everything the franchise does well without getting bogged down by any of its weaknesses, Dynasty Warriors 8 Empires is the one to get.

Whether you were a fan of SteamWorld Dig or not, I think you’ll find that Heist offers up a considerable departure from the previous game, along with a much lengthier and challenging campaign.

Phineas and Ferb: Day of Doofenshmirtz is obviously not designed to be some money-grabbing cash-in (if it is, Disney picked the wrong platform for its exclusivity) but you still have to wonder why on Earth it exists. It's just kind of there, and it should be abundantly clear to anyone playing it that that's not nearly enough.

Overall, The Crew: Wild Run Edition is definitely a step up from the original but is still a lackluster entry in a sea of much better titles available.

So if you’re looking for a tense, difficult, team focused first person shooter this holiday season, I’d urge you to check out Rainbow Six Siege. While it lacks a suitable campaign, it more than makes up for it with its exciting versus and coop modes.

Beyond: Two Souls is a great interactive action-adventure game that I really should have played sooner. It does feel like you do a bit less actually playing than Quantic Dream’s other title, Heavy Rain (which I am a huge fan of), but I never got to a point that it annoyed me.

Is it worth the new release price? Maybe, considering I’m still trucking through my version, even with the headaches. I’ve had a more positive experience despite the bugs and believe they could be rectified with a patch.

Again, you may be tempted to pick Dragon Fin Soup while you can, because the allure of a free game can be mighty hard to resist. In this case, however, you'll quickly discover that the game's price is more a reflection of its actual value than a secret bargain. Avoid it at all costs, even if that cost is zero.

Which, I guess, is the best way to describe Superbeat Xonic as a whole: it's nice enough to look at, and it does what it does with an expected degree of competence, but you wouldn't mistake it for the best the genre has to offer.

Is Star Wars Battlefront the first-person shooter that’ll carry me into the early parts of 2016? Probably not. But I’m definitely enjoying the time I’ve spent with it so far, and I’ll be curious to see what the inevitable DLC brings outside of the upcoming Battle for Jakku map.

To me, that's the real sign that Organ Trail justifies its existence: it doesn't just repackage its influences and call it a day. Instead, it takes that influence and improves on it — and in the process, proves itself to be a pretty good game in its own right.
