For the first DS FPS out the door, Goldeneye: Rouge Agent will more than fit the bill on both the lack of titles that have been offered the last couple months, and the lack of any real action titles too.

Area 51 is the antithesis of what first person shooter fans want. It is actually a better offline title than it is online.

Tallying things up, that’s three points (improved graphics, load times, custom music) that put the PC version above the PS2 for everyone and one (mods) that appeal to some, with two slight negatives (gamepad glitches and lack of multiplayer missions) that bring it down a bit, but only affect a small chunk of users.

In regards to the gameplay, I'd have to give the overall advantage to the Xbox version, again, mostly due to the better framerate. Being able to smoothly spin around the camera, in the vehicles and on foot, makes a big difference in how the game plays.

Overall, if you can get passed the stale visuals and ho-hum same old, same old feeling, and you just love storming the castles, then by all means pick this one up.

While Restricted Area has some bright spots in terms of innovated ideas, you just can’t help but get that old, been there done that feeling while you are playing. The lack of any real plot will not help matters much more.

Advent Rising also suffers from its really short lifespan. Gamers can quickly move through this one in an afternoon, and the open ending keeps you wanting more, but who knows how long that will be.
