At this point you should be playing SideScroller, because despite it walking a well-worn path down shmup lane, it's just as compelling as any of Q-Games' more experimental titles.

If the game is for you or not, one thing is for sure…the experience far exceeds Jurassic Park 2, nuff said.

While the combat side might not be stellar, it's not particularly tough to contend with. Simply clear out the enemies infesting each stage and then turn your focus on scoring points and you'll still get a kick out of it.

It's not a horrible game by any means, but it's certainly not a fully realized idea based on what's been shown in this first of three titles.

I can safely say that you should probably skip this one, unless you're a diehard Sonic the Hedgehog nut. It's not an awful game, but it's also a far cry from great.

Dungeon Defenders is frantic, colorful and deep in a class of games that's usually just frantic and colorful.

Definitely an improvement over Smackdown vs. Raw 2011. I think a little more of a shake-up in the modes used for this game would have been great, but I'll take the improved animation and controls that this year's entry offers up.

It's a gorgeous looking fighter that's pretty unique and fun to play, even if you're currently bogged down in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, SSFIV Arcade Edition, Blazblue, Tekken or whatever.

There's a lot of content here if you enjoy the standard games and want to unlock everything, but not enough of a change here to sway non DW fans into checking this out.

Overall, I feel like it's a pretty poor entry on the 3DS, and it would have been better off as a simple collection of puzzles than something enveloped in a poorly told noir tale.

Despite how much I find myself enjoying the majority of the LEGO games, I find Harry Potter putting me pretty close to my breaking point. The series is incredibly formulaic at this point, and while I loved the magic and exploration aspects of the first Harry Potter adventure, this just feels like more of the same.

If you're looking for just one RPG to pass the time with this year (and probably next), Skyrim is definitely it.

Overall this isn't the best Ace Combat experience, but it's a passable bit of portable fun.

Sure the game has some load time issues, a few frame rate hiccups, but honestly the game whips by you at such a high rate, all these issues are soon forgotten as soon as the timer starts and the race begins.

Combat is certainly more difficult, but every fight you get into feels like an event. And the game does a great job of pacing out its enemy encounters so the player doesn't get battle fatigue.

I personally think it's a little too early and doesn't offer up quite enough content to get me re-excited for the game, but even though I find the upgrade to be kind of minimal, I can't deny that it's still a fun as hell fighting game.

Hard Reset also does a lot of cool things in games that I wish we'd see more of, and it does them well. Interfacing with fictional computer terminals is fun, and scoping the strong art direction does a lot to set the game in a fairly original virtual setting.

Carnival Island is actually quite a bit of fun and makes nice use of the precision PS Move controls. If you have kids or are looking for an enjoyable, family friendly experience, it's worth checking out.

And behind the fairly generic title is... a fairly generic, though solid, dance experience for those with a PS3, a PS Move and the urge to dance.

I found it to be a pretty rewarding experience. It's definitely best if played with friends, but the single player side works well enough.

The focus is clearly on the multiplayer here, and I doubt you're going to get a better FPS multiplayer experience from any other game this year.

inFAMOUS: Festival of Blood is like a streamlined, more horror-themed version of inFAMOUS 2, and it serves as a nice extension to the proper game and as a good starting point for those who never got around to actually playing it. It's definitely worth checking out if you have an interest in the series or the vampire-themed story and gameplay.

SR3 contains a lot off the wall violence that'll satiate your need for random video game fun for a number of hours. It's bookended by great opening and closing moments, and topped off by a competent co-op mode. You'll devote more time to the game than just the story fueled segments, and SR3 will certainly keep you interested past the end credits scroll.

It's a far better game than any of the modern day Sonic titles I've played so far, and the classic Sonic stuff is enough to sell me on the game, even if the modern Sonic side isn't always my cup of tea.

The big reason to upgrade to this year's version would easily be the online career mode, but otherwise there isn't a whole ton that was really changed, besides polish. All in all, it is still the best F1 game to date and does out do F1 2010.
