FFT4HoL revives an old-school design with a new aesthetic, but which misguided aspects of that design come along with it will divide the line between appealing and off-putting to players.

Much like Dragon's Lair before it, I would have liked to have had more bang for my buck such as a documentary video, history of the game, screens of cabinet making, etc. for those of us who grew up during this special time, but alas, even with the multiple settings, the depth of what you get is only in game form only and no nostalgia films or info to accommodate.

Sometimes more of the same is better than nothing, but PJS2's core gameplay will need some serious experimentation if the series is to continue any further; because as awesome as manipulating the geology and chemistry of your environments was in the beginning, it doesn't take long for it to run its course without feeling a little thin in the end...For now though, it's just right.

As good as Killzone 2 was, Killzone 3 tops it in every respect. The excellent PlayStation Move controls and stereoscopic 3D support certainly don't hurt either. This shows me a studio that wants your money for the first hour of gameplay and is happy not to polish anything past what most people might play. As much as I appreciate going the extra mile and giving people different ways to "minigame" a solution to a puzzle, there's something to be said for totally dropping the ball on instructing people on how to do so.

The game is downright ugly. The framerate comes and goes, but the biggest offenders are the generally awful and low key environment textures, the way to similar to every other building design of Venice, and awful collision issues that the character models have. Scarlett will often clip through anything she has to interact with, which becomes even more noticeable in every cutscene that she has to hug her deceased love one in.
