If you’re a fan of the original, or if you’ve never even heard of Lode Runner before, this is a brilliant and intelligent platformer that deserves to be played by as many people as possible.

Sure I’ve got some minor quibbles about Miles & Kilo, but the game as a whole is plenty enjoyable. The slight but appreciated variety it offers is nice, it doesn’t treat players like infants, and it manages to be tough without resorting to frustrating punishment. All in all, it’s not a bad place to get marooned on.

Still, if the only complaint I have about SPACEPLAN is that there isn’t more of it, that’s a pretty good problem to have. If you’re leery about spending money to buy a premium idle clicker, I get it — but you should really get over that hesitation. SPACEPLAN is about as clever and enjoyable as clickers get. It’s salty like french fries, but in all the right ways.

Too responsive controls aside, Old Man’s Journey is a beautiful, affecting experience from start to finish that rewards players that are willing to take their time and admire each scene in full before forging ahead.

All of these features, good and bad, are built on the just-plain-fun idea of multiplayer car-smashing mayhem that Crash Club sometimes gets right—and other times drives right by.

Artificial Superintelligence could have been much better than it is, and who knows, maybe with a few tweaks down the line it’ll be worth a second look. As it stands it’s a very cautious recommendation. There’s definitely enjoyment to be sucked out of the game, but just be prepared for that enjoyment to be tempered with annoyance.

Kill Shot Virus isn’t rich on variety, but it’s still fun. Kind of like when you have a craving for junk food, it’s never going to beat a classier meal, but sometimes you just want something quick and easy. Kill Shot Virus does a fine job of being the gaming equivalent of that. You’ll always feel like there’s something new to do, even if it’s something you’ve actually done before.

I don’t understand why it’s so difficult for digital board game conversions to get tutorials right, but it’s a common problem that Race for the Galaxy unfortunately hasn’t avoided. Also tiny text. Still, once you (eventually) figure out and get used to the icons, as well as the various types of strategies, it really is a great game. I really do wish it was more welcoming to new and out of practice players, though.

Visually, Injustice 2 is a feast, with those aforementioned cinematics backed up by pretty good-looking character models once the fighting actually begins. In motion, they sometimes are a little stiff, and blended with the controls, the whole experience just isn’t quite as crisp as it feels it could be. But then you’ll see one of the ultimate moves play out, like Cyborg boom tubing an opponent to Apokalips and seeing the poor sap get beat up by two Parademons before returning to Earth and getting a huge sonic cannon blast to the face. Somehow that makes your small gripes about the game go away.

As unexpected surprises go, Battle Bay ranks right up there near the top. It’s definitely not the game one would expect from Rovio, yet it manages to take what other companies have done in the multiplayer PvP space and build out from there with its own unique twists. It’s going to sink or swim on its player community, but it’s absolutely worth a try to see if it gets your competitive juices flowing.

There are ways of earning coins such as by completing certain objectives or simply by enabling push notifications, but Crosswords With Friends is very much a game that’s keen to get some money out of you. I enjoyed my time with it and happily used up all the free coins I could retrieve, but you’ll soon realize that this isn’t challenging by any means. It’s a way of inflating your own ego – making you feel smug that you’ve succeeded at a crossword when this really isn’t hard. As an introduction to the concept of crosswords, it’s fine but expect to want to move on soon enough. You will get bored, even more so when certain answers keep being repeated.

In sum, if you’re looking for a real adventure game, Father and Son will not meet your needs. But, if you have an hour to spare to enjoy a different type of interactive experience and learn a little about the lives of those who inhabited Ancient Egypt, Pompeii, and Naples in the 1700s you’ll be richly rewarded.

Penarium features great gameplay guided by tough challenges (and tougher opponents), solid graphics and an interesting concept – what’s not to like? If you’ve not already downloaded the game, it should be added as the next item on your to-do list.

You might find some satisfaction in the collectibles you can earn, unlocking character costumes and new parts of the storyline — but I doubt it. Instead, you’ll hurry back to Futurama: Game of Drones and enjoy the great fan service there. Or, if you’re not too interested in a storyline, it’s not exactly like there’s a shortage of Match-3 puzzle games on the App Store. Family Guy- Another Freakin’ Mobile Game is just a little too eager to live up to its name.

While those who stick with Ms Spell and cherish it’s ‘figure it out yourself’ spirit might feel morally superior to those who don’t dig it, it’s really just a matter of taste. If you take a car in to the mechanic, it matters less whether they learned how to fix a transmission from a YouTube tutorial, in a classroom, or through trial and error (unless your car is the experiment) and more how well it holds up as you drive away. It’s the same here. There are no right or wrong gamers, just those who this game suits or doesn’t. If you’re still on the fence about Ms Spell, there’s only one way to find out which camp you’re in: give it a try. With the game costing less than a great cup of coffee, there’s little to lose.

Really, I can’t help but recommend Topsoil to anyone who enjoys a good puzzle game. It’s really easy to get into, but it also gets super tough the longer you last. From the layered puzzle complexities to the tricky rule-bending plants, it makes for a solid and enjoyable challenge.

Ultimately, its genteel nature means you’ll feel more endeared towards throwing some money its way. Match Land might not be the most imaginative match-3 game out there, but it’s a lot of fun and you’re likely to keep coming back for more.

It’s an almost hit for City Mania. The game is certainly going to scratch that itch for a little while. You’ll enjoy working your way towards some fancy new buildings, even including the option for skyscrapers, but it’ll never be quite as rewarding as the bigger games outside of mobile that games like this always seem to live in the shadow of.

Even with its flaws, there are aspects of the game that are a lot of fun. In turn-based play, if you’ve got a solid partner it’s possible to recapture all of the basic fun of the original game. Control sensitivity might not lead to the prettiest pictures, but they can be pretty hilarious. Some players have complained about the variety of clues, but in hundreds of games, repeats have thus far been rare. The graphics are cute and characters are friendly. Altogether, these still aren’t quite enough to outweigh the more problematic aspects of the game. They might, however, be enough to keep a critical mass of players around long enough to make improvements that future players will benefit from worthwhile.

Unlike the complicated still-lifes of hidden picture games or the sprawling environments of adventure games, the treasures of Vignettes lay concealed within the landscape of one typical household object. We must look around and into and over and through these ordinary, boring things to find something new. And that experience in itself is extraordinary.

Overall, Star Wars: Puzzle Droids doesn’t offer anything radically innovative. But it does offer more than your typical match-3 – a cohesive and compelling narrative, smooth gameplay and a seemingly endless variety of challenges that revolve around common themes. If you’re a fan of Star Wars you’ve likely already downloaded it. If not, it’s still worth a try. You’ve only got your productivity to lose while there’s hours of fun to be gained.

It’s not that I disliked playing Get Me Outta Here. I actually think it’s a pretty satisfying pick-up-and-play action game. I like being able to decide what I may or may not what to trade-off in the name of an easier game, and when the game does what I tell it to do I’ve been able to have some enjoyable and impressive moments of action. I just really, REALLY wish the controls weren’t so moody.

As awesome as it is to see a game built around a comedy whose influence went far beyond its meager $12.8 million in box office receipts, there’s nothing as memorable about Office Space: Idle Profits as the lines of dialogue from the movie that inspired it. Not even a meeting with the Bobs is likely to save this one from being here today, gone tomorrow, just like poor Initech itself.

In the end, this is a game that feels like what it probably is: a decent enough first effort in carving out something new in a sub-genre that had been empty for a while. It might take some time for a really great licensed NASCAR mobile game to come around, but it’s at least possible that it will be a future iteration of this series, which is something you couldn’t have said about any title for years.

It’s not the smartest game out there but there’s a rugged charm to it. Its physics engine is well designed, and you’ll enjoy seeing how different vehicles react to different scenarios. The promise of new levels each month should keep you coming back for more too. Simply put, it’s a lot of fun.

This is a puzzler that gets all of its pieces just about right. There are times you might find yourself frustrated, but that’s usually when your play session comes to an end. Pop back in later and you’ll find that the solution was maybe a little more obvious than you thought. Throw in a neat aesthetic, simple controls, and a progression system that isn’t afraid to let you figure things out for yourself, and you’re left with a game that’s as smart as it is welcoming. And we don’t get to say that much.

If you’ve never played Nonstop Knight and simply love the idea of Chuck Norris memes turned into a simple yet funny mobile game, you’ll probably get a kick (no pun intended, honest) out of this. If you’ve played Nonstop Knight, though, it’s hard to justify taking up precious space in your device’s memory with both games.

It’s a real shame, because there’s a lovely idea swirling around Footy Golf. But it disappears as soon as it starts to fight with the system that’s supposed to push you on to the next chunk of the game.
