Ultimately, CityVille Hometown is exactly what it sounds like: a scaled-back version of CityVille that is specifically designed around the limitations of the iPhone. This makes for a mostly solid experience, that even boasts some improvements over the main version of the game.

If you're one of my fellow, bitter, retrogamers, Frogatto will be a breath of fresh air in a world filled with motion control, exercise games and war simulations. Despite the jumping mechanics that may test your patience, this game is a lengthy, polished platformer that serves up hours of nostalgic, amphibious fun.

If it weren't for the circus theme, we'd have a hard time telling this was a new game at all.

It's ambitious to say the least. But I think to a large extent the game's engine gets in its own way far too often. There were numerous times I saw characters get stuck or fall through the ground, or mission objectives simply not appear.

A high-quality title. If you're a huge Sega fan, it's a fun trip down memory lane through games you thought Sega forgot like Jet Grind Radio, Crazy Taxi and Space Channel 5. If that last sentence makes no sense to you, Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing is a good but flawed racing experience.

On one hand, it's got some really solid production values, increasingly frantic gameplay, and some really interesting RPG-like elements. That said, it's frustrating because it doesn't always feel like strategy is the focus, with button mashing being a more effective technique.

Combine all that with infectious classic gameplay and I'm sure you'll agree that 1-Bit Ninja is, well, brilliant.

Speaking of bragging rights: MumboJumbo has earned some for delivering a great rendition of its marble-matching hit, which marries the tried-and-true puzzle approach with great visuals and sharp touch-screen controls.

By flying in the face of tradition and encouraging players to stay engaged for as long as they like, Tiny Tower has set a wonderful new standard for freemium games on the App Store. With great presentation, style, and gameplay, this is one tower you'll want to move in to.

As the first social game to come out of EA's 8lb Gorilla micro-studio, Ghost Harvest is at least off to a good start. It has its own unique style, and the setting isn't one that has been done to death.

A fun, goofy little puzzler that succeeds really nicely. Even the in-app purchases are easy to ignore if a player doesn't want to utilize them. It's a great game that casual puzzle fans will undoubtedly enjoy the heck out of.

Bringing absolutely nothing new, let alone anything of real value, Top Girl should be ignored for the terrible idea that it is. Dump her, and go for something with more substance – just about anything, really.

Feels like it should be much better than it is, thanks to the excellent production values and huge amount of content it contains. Unfortunately its flawed mechanics drag it down from greatness, leaving it firmly in the realm of mediocrity.

You'll likely play it frequently and often without thinking. Skipping Stone is the kind of game you play when you have five minutes to spare and need something to occupy your hands. Given its outrageously affordable price, this makes it a definite must buy.

Rocket Bunnies is never dull, and never lets you lower your guard for a second – but by the same token, it never makes playing a painful process, either. The ability to strike such a balance shouldn't be underestimated, and Rocket Bunnies is a game most certainly worth having on rotation.
