My Time at Portia is fun for the whole family, a mix of farm sim and RPG with cute design and easy learning curve.

Since Doom in 2016, no shooter has played so well for me and has motivated me so much to further develop my character's abilities and weapons. Here lies the greatest strength of Rage 2: lure me with skills that actually feel like an improvement...However, thanks to the monotonous missions and the empty open world, Rage 2 runs out of steam after only five to six hours of play.

It's more than just an XCOM clone. Hard West is Wild West mystery with tactics, depth and death. It only fails with regard to long-term motivation.

Cyanides Space Hulk is close to the board game, but suffers from sluggish control and too short a campaign. Best played against a buddy.

The concept of the long-distance space driving simulation Star Trucker works, but it lacks a bit of content for long-term motivation.

Are you good or evil? Or both? And should you buy this game? It may not be as good as Mass Effect 2, but it’s still a lot of fun to follow Mike through his adventures, despite some out of date graphics and the dumb AI, because as a role playing game, it just works fine.

The third installment of Dawn of War is motivating due to upgradable heroes and battles to conquer fortresses, which add to the standard missions. The missions, which can last up to two hours, are demanding. Quite often you will fight at several fronts at once while being pressed for time.

I am convinced by the lovable figures of Draugen, so much so that I did not need the turn at the end. They work for themselves, are versatile, charming and simply alive.

X3: Terran Conflict is the last episode of the space saga from Egosoft. There is a huge war going on, a war against the Xenon and against the game's controls. Terran Conflict looks great, there's more action than before and it's possible to control lots of ships - theoretically. But in reality controlling more than one ship is very complicated, if not impossible. But if you liked the other X-series games, then you might like this one, too.

Indirect controls, random battles, no diplomacy – can this be fun? Yes. Lots of upgrades, exploring the map and the colorful fantasy setting will get you hooked right from the start, including the just-one-more-mission effect. A real insider tip.
