Cinemotion includes some wonderfully intuitive changes, and we like having the ability to perform sneaky drop passes.

It could have been much better if only there were more than two modes (deathmatch and team deathmatch) and a couple of maps small enough to play with less than five players, but Prey is still a major blast for shooter fans with strong stomachs.

Like ZEN Studios' previous offerings, Zen Pinball 3D reproduces the best aspects of pinball beautifully, and the 3D truly adds to the enjoyment and gets you that much closer to feeling like you're playing real pinball.

The purist, PC-RPG crowd will hate it for "dumbing down" one of the last remaining hardcore RPGs, while the console clan will love it for making a fantastic series more accessible. Everyone should cotton to the clever, twisty story and fully fledged characters.

Another enjoyable reimagining for the Resident Evil series that nails the action but lacks depth.

While not particularly revolutionary despite the theming, Persona 5 Tactica is certainly moving. It's easy to imagine it fanning the flames of rebellion (to use the game's own parlance) in the hearts of players. It's not as all-encompassing as a mainline Persona, and lacks some of the charming odds and ends usually present in them, but it's hard to fault a new kind of spinoff that is mechanically competent and features a compelling narrative.

Kirby Air Riders is perhaps an ideal video game in that it's easy to overlook its flaws because it's just fun enough to play over and over again. Despite the fact that, taken on their own, each section of the game largely leaves me cold or indifferent, the entire package together is shockingly solid with plenty of charm.

Horizon Call of the Mountain is a touch of magic, bringing the Horizon world to life in first person on PSVR 2. It's stunning, captivating, and never loses sight of what made Horizon Zero Dawn and Horizon Forbidden West so special.

As unpredictable as it is rewarding, Pacific Drive can be brilliant, infuriating, and frustrating in equal measure. There's a great idea here but much of its potential is burned up by a tough mid-game learning curve, and unpredictably cruel dangers.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment manages to find exciting stories to tell as a Tears of the Kingdom prequel, with Princess Zelda taking the lead to spend plenty of time with some all-timer characters old and new. But, while action and performance is an upgrade from the last Hyrule Warriors, strangled battlefield and mission designs become dull, holding this back from true magic.

The world won’t stick with you, but beautiful visuals and excellent twin-stick looting make this a co-op blast…once you figure out what you’re doing. You could get lost for weeks in its end-game content, but only the most obsessive will care about climbing Alienation’s leaderboards.

Lego Voyagers is a brief, delightful puzzle adventure with a sweet, simple narrative and a disarming soundtrack. While playful by design, its linear nature and sometimes clunky controls make this a less-than-perfect outing, but it's hard to fault the game too much considering it's ultimately satisfying and not long enough for the few rough edges to cause much friction.

Don’t Starve starts off slow and punishing and continues to get even harder as you play. Its merciless difficulty coupled with its monotonous gameplay can leave some players feeling frustrated and bored. Those who enjoy a good challenge, however, will relish in the satisfaction they’ll get when they manage to outlive their previous record or clear the game’s evil Adventure mode. It may not be for everyone, but if you’re looking for a roguelike game filled with charm and challenge, be sure not to miss Don’t Starve.

Atelier Escha & Logy makes time management fun, challenging you to maximize your efficiency if you want to help everyone in need. Its version of alchemy is inspiringly multifaceted, while the combat's basic but entertaining. If you can appreciate the simpler things in life, like a job well done, definitely give this JRPG a try.

There’s a lot more replay value to be found in here, and unlike the forgotten titles that have collected dust since you beat them, Geometry Wars: Galaxies is the sort of game that you’ll want to dive back into for another round (or ten) long after your first encounter.
