With charming, stylized graphics, and unique gameplay mechanics, I would highly recommend this game. While there are a few bugs to be ironed out, it is in Early Access, and those things will more than likely be fixed before we know it.

One key feature in the game that makes it an interesting play is the use of pixels. I love the retro style pixelated characters and game world.

Disintegration is an RTS/FPS hybridized story-driven game. When combat is in full swing and every move you make is gold, Disintegration feels like an experience worth having. Unfortunately, some of the higher difficulties may fail to hold your interest as some missions can take quite a long time, and the combat can feel very repetitive, with encounters rehashing a lot of the same enemies and experiences. With an added multiplayer mode, Disintegration does have some replayability, but most likely, experiencing the well-crafted story may be the extent of many players' experiences.

Shadowgate for the Nintendo Switch is a wonderful rendition of the 8-bit NES version that is near and dear to many of our hearts. This rendition isn't merely a direct port but a re-imagining that still holds true to the classic Shadowgate formula.

We Happy Few is going to go down as a cult hit. If you can muster the strength to get past its janky gameplay, there's a whole lot to love here in the world and characters. But the fact remains that this adventure is one that could have used a bit more refinement.

If you are looking for an uncensored, no punches pulled platformer with a healthy heap one-liners and fast flying bullets, Rad Rodgers: Radical Edition may just be your on-the-go ticket to the past. Be forewarned: it is a trippy ride with some bumps along the way. However, some experiences from the past are worth revisiting in all of their awkwardness and discomfort. They may just remind us how much we have grown… or how much we still love a good fart joke.

It is good for short commutes to and from work and the Nintendo Switch IS both a living room console and a handheld portable. Maybe it will grow on me. But for now, it just leaves me in the Void.

Neoverse Trinity Editon is a surprisingly addictive deck-building card battling game. There are some things that will make you think this was a converted mobile game from the West, especially given anime-based heroines. The game leaves a lot for you to figure out but provides enough varied missions so that successive playthroughs don't feel completely monotonous. It requires some patience to master the system and unlock new cards but on the plus side, it plays well in undocked mode making for a great travel game!

Turtlepop: Journey to Freedom is a fun title that doesn’t fail to charm the socks off you. It follows the adventures of Bebo, Deephi, Slimmie, Willis, and Sparky as they attempt to make their way to freedom and throws in a ton of genres along the way.

War Party might be the best designed and most polished indie RTS to come out in a long time.

While it was not entirely my speed (it does put the crawl in “dungeon crawl”), it is a break from the frantic pacing of many dungeon crawlers with a central mechanic adds creative possibilities to puzzle solving and combat.

Vigor is a looter-shooter experience that presents a strong form in its post-looting part, but when it comes to action moments, the game lacks required challenge due to its unbalanced design. Vigor will worth playing if the developer attempts to add more new content to the game.

Gummy’s Life is fun for the family but a little difficult to learn to play.

A group of high school students, an alien attack, and Metal. Gal Metal is a unique rhythm based game that mixes metal with a free form playstyle, from DMM Games. Nothing could quite have prepared us for this as we defend earth from certain doom.

An odd trip down memory lane. It contains elements of classic titles presented in a way that makes sense within the genre. It is currently $5.99 USD in the Nintendo eShop. If you are looking for a goofy couple of hours of gameplay, it is hard to find anything like it.

A touching and interesting story which is infinitely relatable. I wish the storytelling had been a bit more varied and I hadn’t had my issue with motion sickness. All of that said, if you enjoy narrative exploration games this is a good one to check out.

Hellbound is based around recreating the classic first-person shooter game experience of the 90s, which it does succeed in doing. If you were a fan of those games or wanted to experience what they were like in a modern package, then the developers at Saibot Studios have delivered, for the most part. Unfortunately, the game falls short of a great experience.

Overall, I give a lot of credit to Netmarble for a very good RPG especially since it was originally designed for mobile and then had to be changed up to meet the needs of the traditional console game. I have enjoyed playing it for hours on end and it is worth every penny of the $19.99 USD that is being charged for it on the Switch. It is simple to learn and play through and fun for anyone who likes RPGs.

What Starship Troopers: Extermination can give is a fun and enjoyable fight with bugs, trying to somehow survive with 15 players who are trying in every possible way to kill you along with bugs, or just doing nothing at the base. But in the end the game feels smooth and leaves a pleasant aftertaste, at this point the game has a huge potential for development. I liked the time spent in the game, but the lack of content is self-evident. [Early Access Provisional Score = 85]

Continuation of the game released in 2019, with graphics that do not make you wonder, with mechanics that do not meet the standards of 2021-2022 games, and the linearity of some levels makes it possible to predict what and how will happen. But this game perfectly shows the plot, and the characters are logical and memorable. The game makes you remember everything about the great franchise of films about the terminator, and this is the best terminator game so far.

Combat flowed smoothly, and the combat system was simple enough for even a young kid to learn.

Darksburg has sprinted full force into early access with a definite solid foundation for the game. The world the developers have built is difficult and terrifying, but it can also be immersive and beautiful. There is a story behind the unlucky town of Darksburg that is begging to be told, but it will just take a little more time to unravel. I’m particularly excited to learn more about the Revenants and the source of the Infection, and hope that the creators lean more into the lore behind their world. They’re in a unique position to offer a game with high replayability and a rich story as they continue forward through the early access period. The base mechanics of the game have been ironed out with an interesting cast to execute them. Now let’s throw in a little more spice and kick things up a notch. [Early Access score = 75]

Deiland: Pocket Planet Edition is a light-hearted, family-friendly farming simulator that can be played in small doses. Unfortunately, some balancing issues that can lead to sessions of feeling tedious and frustrating make it hard to enthusiastically recommend.

If you’re in the mood for a twin stick shooter that is easy to pick up but provides hours of challenging gameplay, Crimsonland is worth a shot. While it doesn’t quite make me want to break my jeans that I could smuggle a couple of two-liters in, Crimsonland certainly means business up front with the promise of a party in the back.

The way the game approaches presenting its story is a bit weak. Altogether it feels like the studio is trying to preserve the feeling and the legacy of the Shadow of the Colossus but is lacking experience. Despite its weaker sides, Praey for the Gods is a game worth playing and supporting its developers. Especially if you like pain and suffering…

Need For Speed Payback is a mixed bag. One the one hand it’s a fun arcade racer with great customization, a wide range of cars and race styles and some truly great single player moments. Yet with the other hand holding an underwhelming multiplayer experience, lather, rinse repeat story missions, and some awkward storytelling pacing, NFS never seems to hit top gear in its goal to capture the glory of the old days.

Sniper Elite V2 Remastered is a fun if slightly dated affair. Having played Sniper Elite 4, it’s difficult to go back to V2 and not be influenced by hindsight.

This game has everything I personally love in a third person action shooter. It provides a satisfying blend of action and story with the freedom of play, personable characters, and a compelling storyline. The comic book presentation gives the shooter its own personality and character and it has online cooperative play. If you enjoy a thoughtful tactical shooter, then I would recommend giving Rogue Trooper Redux a try.
