Rico: London would like to be a classic B-movie shooter, but its difficulty is all over the place, the repeating rooms are numbing and it’s all just very, very broken.

The environments are beautiful and varied, the combat is very well done and the PvE content is satisfying. But why would you lock it all behind daily limits and randomness?

A brilliant story driven JRPG with stylish graphics, an impressive combat system and an ideal difficulty level. The battles, the twists, your role in it all which can lead to several different endings - that’s what will keep you playing.

This is the fall of a giant. PlatinumGames, the masters of their craft, stumble and crash in this poor attempt at a live service game with passable combat and awful everything else.

An utterly conservative DLC with everything you’d expect including a lot of stuff to hoover from the map, a few new armours and weapons and an interesting addition in the form of draining special powers from enemies – which sounds great, but the game cannot really handle the implications. In summary, there’s so little creativity it hurts.

Syberia: The World Before doesn’t make the same mistakes as its awful predecessor. Good old mouse controls are back, as is the beautiful architecture and weird automatons the series became known for. The story takes a while to get going but once it does, it’s gripping.

Gran Turismo 7 keeps to old habits and doesn’t change very much, including graphics. Its automotive love will, however, send you careening back towards your childhood – you won’t stop until you collect every single beautiful car this game has to offer. And race with them, of course, because the driving model is joyous.

Martha Is Dead tells a wicked, confusing and thrilling story of death and plot twists. It’s a short psychological experience, visually stunning but maybe closer to an interactive movie than a true videogame.

Grid Legends is a unique racing game because it actually manages to tell a compelling story. All the rivalries and friendships manifest themselves on the racetrack. The racing itself is quite easy, however, and will not challenge anyone except the beginners.

Lo Wang’s return to glory is truly spectacular despite the fact that Shadow Warrior 3 is a shorter and simpler game than its predecessors. It’s lightning fast, brutal, funny and straightforward – the ultimate antidote for the never-ending open world craze.

Elex II is a second instalment we could live without. It’s still a solid RPG but once again too ambitious for its own good. It simply doesn’t bring as much joy as it could have.

Inspired by legendary RPGs and developers of yore, The Waylanders fails to honour them in any respect. Its story is as generic as they come, the characters completely inconsistent. The controls are clunky and some bugs prevent you from progressing. The combat system is fine, but that really cannot save this game from deserved oblivion.

The years of waiting were worth it, Elden Ring is brilliant. It offers a huge amount of content, a beautiful world and addictive gameplay. But the series does start to feel a little bit stale.

Not your usual Pokémon game, a step in a slightly different direction. Arceus isn’t without its faults, but it is fun – and that might be the most important quality of this experiment.

This love letter to the JRPG genre looks beautiful and its combat is very well done. There are many problems, however – awful animation quality, a clumsily paced story, an empty world and cringey dialogue.

The crown jewel of the trilogy, fresh and creative. Evil is rising, Good is dying but the ingenious campaign structure ensures there’s fun to be had for everyone. Well, except those of you who really like bears.

Forbidden West is consistent if not revolutionary, conservative but also precise, self-confident, sweeping, and personal. And oftentimes it simply takes your breath away.

What a strange and delightful game! You’ll spend many hours tending to weird plants and dealing with occult mysteries – and it works so very well. If, that is, you like your simulation games and don’t mind a bit of routine.

An immensely stylish ode to kung-fu – challenging, well done, fun. It’s a bit short and the difficulty is all over the place, but you still should absolutely play it.

The mixing of cultures is very well done, the royal court itself not so much – it actually ends up being a disappointment. This DLC should have been better, but once you try it out, you’d miss it anyway.

A bit of a surprise, this one, a full-blooded space shooter that could sometimes throw a bit less at you but in the end stays fun and engaging. What a debut for the inexperienced team!

Solar Ash will excite the player thanks to its creative visuals and smooth movement but it soon gets too repetitive and loses its originality and challenge.

The first few hours are just delightful, carrying you away into the ancient Roman world, but it soon starts to get quite repetitive and the story loses its legs. But the worst offenders of all are the terrible, sometimes game breaking bugs.

The concept itself is original, as is the fact that your operators can be seriously hurt in between your journeys. But it’s just way too repetitive and its storyline is beyond bland. In the end, this is a truly average co-op shooter.

This notorious party game is a great fit for Nintendo Switch and if you’re having a party over at your place, you’ll also be having a laugh thanks to the silly, angry fighting creatures. The sad fact is that it’s missing content that really should be there and the online play is simply bad.

This is a fantastic little RPG with great combat and full of beautiful storytelling. It has its flaws, certainly, and I wouldn’t be surprised if it occasionally started to bore you, but it’s still a good way to relax, especially if you’re subscribed to the Game Pass.

The challenging development has visibly affected Dying Light 2 in many ways, but it is still a successful game with a lot of content for several passes. I had fun from start to finish and that's the main thing.

Both games this remaster aims to upgrade haven’t really aged at all, at least gameplay-wise. They are still epic, still a bit silly, still beautiful and still charming thanks to their characters. Now everything is just a bit more stunning, sharper, smoother and overall more enjoyable owing to the amazing DualSense.
