Chivalry 2 is a beautiful, hilarious, and surprisingly deep medieval brawler. If only it offered a few more modes or dynamic battlefield movement, this could be a classic for the ages.

Splinter Cell: Conviction is faster and more action oriented than previous games in the series. It's getting closer to a third person shooter, but Conviction has not lost its unique Fisheresque soul. This is great entertainment.

Despite a somewhat flawed presentation, Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope captures what made its predecessor special, and improves on the series’ solid tactical RPG-premise.

Cities: Skylines is the city-builder we've been both waiting and hoping for. Simple, but elegant systems and potentially huge landmasses to build upon and expand your city. The game doesn't overcomplicate anything, but strikes a good balance between depth and ease of use.

With new abilities and mechanics such as the Melee Counter, Metroid: Samus Returns feels like a fresh, much needed quality game in the Metroid series. Just too bad its visuals could have been more timeless were it released on the Nintendo Switch.

Still, there's so much that's cool, beautiful, and cozy about Pragmata's lunar dystopia that I can't help but enjoy it. The heavy, traumatic, and humane situations in several other father-and-child simulators are undeniably good, but I appreciate that here we're served something that's mostly noticeably lighter – and more cheerful. I identify much more with Hugh's approach to a small child, despite the fact that he's not technically Diana's dad, than the way Joel and Kratos behave. I think most others reading this review will too.

Overall, we are left with one of the very best expansions the 20-year-old online game has received.

With an engaging and touching story, beautiful graphics and a cast of charming characters, this is one of the best game experiences this year. You'll be whisked away to a wonderful world that's hard to tear yourself away from.

Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake is a wonderful return to two classics that helped define an entire genre for years to come.

A truly wonderful roleplaying game, with gameplay that's nothing like the big name AAA titles or Kickstarter successes in the genre.

This wonderfully engaging adventure combines the best features from classic Zelda games with several new mechanics from more recent entries. Developer Grezzo doesn't nail every aspect of the experience, but the neverending stream of fun puzzles and charming gameplay easily outshine the game's weaker points.

In the end it's the freedom of choice, and how those choices impact the world Obsidian has created that makes The Outer Worlds so great. You can be and act almost as you please, and do as little or as much for the people around you. Great writing, creative quest lines and solid voice acting makes the 40 hours a great experience.

You can't really go wrong with Street Fighter, and that's the case on the 3DS as well. Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edtition is tons of fun and the best launch title on the console.

This special edition comes with all the free multiplayer DLC, as well as the extended cut of the ending and bonus mission From Ashes. It's a pretty good package overall, and the Genesis motion comic fills in the story of the two preceding games. The inhumanly long loading screens of the Wii U version do put a damper on the experience, and Genesis skips plenty of important decisions from previous games that makes the story feel a little incomplete. But for newbies to the Mass Effect universe this is a damned good purchase.

Perhaps Bethesda will manage to make the Starfield experience better in the future through various updates and expansions. But all in all, it seems like Starfield would have done much better as a universe with a sea of depth and seamlessness spread over 10 planets, rather than what we got spread over 1000.

It's very hard not to like the new Doom. The game's approach to shooting is fast, frantic and incredibly well-made, with a feeling of both old and new all at once. The story is relatively long, growing steadily more repetitive the more you play, but multiplayer and SnapMap work nicely as diversions, making the overall package very likeable.

If you're craving good beat 'em up games, Shredder's Revenge is definitely worth checking out. If you also have a good relationship with the Ninja Turtles from childhood, the recommendation is self-written.

Rocket League does everything needed to create a kick ass sports game. It's simple enough to learn the mechanics in a few minutes, but also complicated enough to require several hours of play to understand the finer details. Those hours will certainly fly by.

Hotline Miami is a short and bittersweet mix of fast-paced violence and monotonous repetition, where stupendous AI and crazy amounts of randomness interrupt the experience on a regular basis. It’s stylish and mindless fun, but quite annoying nonetheless.

This might very well be the scariest game I've played in over 20 years as a gamer, and I dread the thought of all the nightmare-fodder I've given myself by playing it.

Forza Horizon is a fresh branch on the Forza tree. It is truly a pleasure to drive the beautiful cars pedal to the metal through the magnificent scenery, but Forza Horizon feels a little bit inconsistent at times.

Assassin's Creed: Origins packs many new tricks, yet feels dated. Its combat is clunky, its story generic, and despite a gorgeous world, Origins fails to live up to the standards set by the games it wants to resemble.

This years edition focuses on streamlining team setups and tactics, as well as improving the importance of your staff. It manages to do that perfectly, and the result is another amazing game.
