Star Command doesn't offer exploration through space or missions on exotic planets, but does provide you with rough confrontations with aggressive space ants, burning hallways, screaming crew members and a tantalizing story. The gameplay often doesn't surpass the manically tapping of pixilated characters on a burning ship and strangely enough that's enough to make you feel like a captain. Engage!

Codemasters shows that they haven't forgotten the art of creating circuit games. Very well improved driving behavior and a extremely gratifying audio-visual presentation gives players a great racing sensation. The lack of a cockpit-view is a shame though, and you'll need some perseverance to get the most out of it.

There's nothing that redeems this interpretation of Star Trek. Aside from a wealth of issues, it's nothing more than a generic, rushed product that doesn't have a single good idea in it. Don't spend a penny on it: Star Trek just isn't worth it.

Reus is a very good, well balanced game. The developers understand the essence of a godgame like no other and gave the genre a new twist. An original and challenging concept with which the Dutch Abbey Games put themselves on the map.

Metro: Last Light can be mentioned in the same breath as big games like BioShock and Half-Life 2. Developer A4 Games proves to be very capable on a technical level, and they didn't make any concessions to the experience. When it comes to the gameplay, the developer might retain some of their (somewhat strange) own rules, but does this solely to improve the action.

Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon is loud, hilarious and injected with tons of thirty year-old testosterone. Such a cocktail demands criticism for it trying to be an easy game that thinks it can score based on popular nostalgia. Against all expectations this game turns its possible faults into strengths, that come into their own when it turns out that there's a very entertaining shooter behind all of the Last Action Hero-violence.

God Mode tries to vary, but fails to do so completely. It comes down to being a game in which you'll shoot a lot of enemies, mindlessly running towards you. Which is as exciting and original as it sounds: not at all.

The world of Zeno Clash II is one big acid-trip. It's one of the most bizarre games in which your fists are the two primary weapons. Behind the absurd look there's an interesting story, but Zeno Clash II drops the ball on certain key gameplay mechanics.

After porting all of its classics successfully to iOS, Sid Meier proves himself once again with Ace Patrol. It feels wonderfully refreshing and the dogfights combine accessibility with an intelligent layer of tactics. It's ruthless when failing a mission though, but that's compensated by a look that breathes sympathy and fun multiplayer modes.

Kung Fu Rabbit serves as a nice snack for those on the hunt for 2D-platformers, but when it comes to challenge it doesn't even hold a candle to some of the bigger titles out there. It also lacks personality and the story and setting are very generic. It's still good for an entertaining afternoon though.

Bit Dungeon is a pleasant homage to Zelda, Diablo and other classics. It looks simple, but develops into an addicting, compact RPG. Where other games in the genre require lots of work and investment, bit Dungeon remains playful and entertaining.

Action on the Roof plays nicely, but definitely isn't an ode to the Turtles. It's too monotonous and simple for that. It's fun for that Turtle-vibe, but no keeper.

Soul Sacrifice looks a little bit like Monster Hunter, but leans on completely different game mechanics. Being able to sacrifice you companions, your enemies and yourself make this a special, but estranging experience. Especially online it gets tense with the people in your team, because they have the ability to sacrifice you for a magical attack as well.

At its core, Shootmania Storm is a competitive multiplayer shooter, but differs from its competitors via subtle twists. Outside of its gameplay it leaves many opportunities out cold though. The maps are boring, menu's unclear and the arsenal of weapons generic. Fortunately it leans on its followers and user generated content, which will hopefully fill these gaps.

Dead Island: Riptide can't really justify its own existence. It has the potential of being a great zombie action game, but the slow pace, many technical problems and the meaningless missions make it a frustrating mess. These are the same problems the first game dealt with, and they haven't been resolved.

Unfortunately Age of Empires II HD isn't a very impressive update. It disappoints graphically and not much has been done to improve or modernize it. The gameplay is still strong though, and Age of Empires II still shows how balanced and detailed strategy games can be. With the addition of the Steam Workshop there's enough potential here for the game to be given a new look. Too bad this is left up to the players though.

Persona 4: Arena is the result of an especially improbable, but successful marriage. Developer Arc Systems bring us one of the deepest and at the same time most accessible 2D-figheter ever. Atlus on the other hand, worked on the presentation with enough love and care to give Persona 4 a worthy successor. Do know that you're getting into though. Whoever wants to play a fighting game a few hours a week, will merely crush the tip of the iceberg.

Surgeon Simulator 2013 is the QWOP of the year: a game that's hilarious because of the impossible controls and high difficulty. Accidentally dropping a running drill in a patients lung is something we've always wanted to do. We just hope we'll never have to get operated on by anyone who has played this game.

Delivers on a unique cooperative experience that has you sneaking through levels as a member of a team of four burglars, with the right composition of classes. It won't be long before you'll get sucked into the charming atmosphere developer Pocketwatch Games established here. Alone, or with ill-intentioned players, it loses a lot of the charm and gets really hard during later parts of the game. Only play Monaco with accomplices.

Fire Emblem: Awakening honors its predecessors and manages to put itself on the same level. With a series, that is according to many, the best tactical turn-based strategy-series ever, we can’t imagine a better compliment to give it. No, you know what, it’s the best in the series. Not in the least because a portable game hardly ever has as much personality and involvement as Awakening.

Remove its witty jokes, countless fun references and memes, and Guacamelee! is still a game more than worth playing. The 'Metroid-vania'-style works well, action and agility complement each other greatly and the challenge is amazingly balanced. Too bad that the cooperative mode just isn't up to standards.

Injustice: Gods Among Us is a typical Netherrealm Studios-game, but not their best. Fighting fanatics will know that this isn't as well done as 2011's Mortal Kombat, but Injustice doesn't rest solely on its fighting system. The true pillars consist of well-known superheroes from the DC-universe, with their absurd powers and a sympathetic amount of fan-service.

Defiance has the honor of being the first open world shooter-MMO on consoles. The game absolutely has its fun moments, but there are too many technical problems that bring down the good fundamentals. The biggest evildoer is the framerate, that can get pretty nauseating during large firefights, and negatively affects the response time. Underneath these glitches hides a good and well thought-out game.

Etrian Odyssey IV: Legends of the Titan is a double sided blade that cuts both ways. It´s the most accessible game in this series of traditional first person dungeon crawlers, but offers enough resistance for both newcomers and veterans. And where there's a challenge, there's satisfaction.

Cities in Motion 2 is a true paradise for those who love to plan everything into the smallest details. Other than that it offers too little variation to stay interesting for long, with boring graphics, drab environments and slow gameplay. Cities in Motion 2 is better than its predecessor, but no classic in the sim-genre.

Like every previous Slender-game, this one succeeds in frightening you and making you very paranoid with intense scares. The atmospheric, detailed environments set the tone very well. Unfortunately, repetitive gameplay and frustrating artificial intelligence keep Slender: The Arrival from being anything above average.

Always dreamed of a night on the town with a famous soccer player? The statistics from traditional soccer management-games are traded in Lords of Football, for cheeky brats who prefer to spend entire nights at the disco: real soccer players. The game sits somewhere in between Football Manager and The Sims, but is never as good or as expansive as either of these titles. When the humor wears off you’ll just ask yourself: why am I still playing this?

Trials Evolution Gold is a very entertaining game with lots of spectacle, variation and challenges. It’s a shame that Redlynx didn’t go through much effort to create a worthy port to PC’s though, but that doesn’t take away from the fact that it can easily be recommended.

HarmoKnight is a colorful rhythm platformer, available through the Nintendo 3DS eShop and made by the developers of Pokémon, that will keep you busy for about six hours. Thanks to the 50 levels and solid gameplay it’s worth the pretty high price of fifteen Euros. The characters and the story are very generic though. The standard levels are the most fun as well: the game sometimes experiments with different takes, which they shouldn’t have done in our opinion.

When playing the single player, Battleblock Theater is nothing more than a fun 2D platformer that’s challenging enough, but doesn’t do anything exceptionally well. It isn’t until playing the multiplayer that the game really comes into its own and becomes a absurd and very entertaining party game. The controls leave something to be desired and its pace could be quicker from time to time, but thanks to the excellent level editor and a few brilliant mini-games, it takes a while before Battleblock becomes a bore.
