As a pure action game, it’s too slow (it often feels like Ed is moving against a strong wind) to satisfy those used to such titles as Ninja Gaiden, Devil May Cry, or Prince of Persia. As a role-playing game, it’s too shallow and short to satisfy those expecting the next Final Fantasy.

Like the previous games in the series, the gameplay is incredibly repetitive and uncomplicated, and anyone over the age of 11 will quickly tire of the game after only a few levels.

The weak, shriveled heart of "Armageddon" can barely pump the appealing lifeblood of the comic book series into this hollow shell. It isn't terrible, but it offers few reasons to complete the 20 or so missions.

The ability to make your own dance patterns is not a dumb idea per se. Dance Factory would be an interesting gimmick if it was attached to an otherwise good DDR clone.

Improvements to the solo adventure and the addition of some basic multiplayer modes elevate the game above its predecessors, but it can't turn the tide of battle in the franchise's favor.

While it can't match the other versions of the game in terms of scope or graphics, and it is a bit repetitive, Dynasty Warriors Advance is a surprisingly comprehensive package that is simple, fun, and offers plenty of action.

It may be junk, but at least it's well-made junk.

The overall speed of the game slows down substantially when there's too much activity on screen.

Even for an arcade action game, Maximum Chase is short and easy. You'll blow through the entire game in less than an afternoon. There are special objectives to beat in order to unlock things such as new cars and camera filters, but there isn't much incentive to replay this game once you've beaten it.

Carnival Games is ok in short bursts, but much like the real-world games they are based on, they really aren’t that much fun to play more than once or twice. Wii Sports has more depth.

An interesting attempt at breaking the first-person shooter mould, and it could have been something special if the rest of the game weren’t rather mediocre.

RF Online isn’t a bad MMO by any means; it simply suffers from an over-abundance of menial tasks.

Performance gets choppy in certain parts of the city (Istanbul especially). Cars tend to pop into view and there are never more than maybe four or five other cars onscreen at any given time.

The simplistic visuals aren’t to the level of a 2005 release, the limited animation and restrictive camera angles diminish the fun associated with the combat engine, and it’s not a particularly violent game despite its subject material.

Check Six Studios has clearly designed this installment of the Spyro franchise for very young gamers, and with that demographic, the title works well. Unfortunately, this limited scope will bore anyone familiar with other platforming titles.

After spending a while with this game, you'll realize you're not actually playing Ace Combat. You're playing a quick-and-dirty flight game with the words Ace Combat slapped on the box, and entering eight-digit passwords whenever you want to pick up where you left off. This undercooked turkey barely earns its wings.

Children will have no trouble getting into the groove of the action, and their parents will be able to play along and have a good time too. Playing with a dance pad is highly recommended.

Harmlessly addictive, if not wholly derivative. But it's great for the kids, and offers a satisfying, officially licensed Harry Potter experience.

If you're going to hit your audience with meta-humor about wireframe graphics, you ought to follow up with gameplay that gives them just as much credit.

It moves really slowly through some of the most boring levels in the history of the genre, and constantly drops new enemies into the scene completely out of nowhere. It’s just not fun at all.

Gamers looking for a cool action-RPG with some anime style will be let down. The only way we can absolutely recommend this game is if you love Avatar: The Last Airbender as much as you do breathing.

A generic click-fest with the occasional cutscene of Colin Farrell riding on a horse and the sounds of Vangelis blaring in the background. Ick.

Tenchu’s been chugging along as a slightly-above-average series for quite a while now. And it’s disappointing that such a great concept has once again fallen victim to poor game design and crappy presentation. Even if the online co-op mode ran better, it doesn’t help the product feel any more fun.

Sure, the graphics are lacking and my arms were incredibly tired after Podracing, but these in no way detract from how fun the game is. If you like Star Wars and are looking for a reason to dust off your lonely Kinect, you should buy this game. But be warned, your inner-Comic Book Guy will never shut up.

Unlike the sublime, budget-friendly "Katamari Damacy," this game sells for full price. It may be worth a rental, but Under the Skin proves that being simple, weird, and quirky just isn’t good enough on its own.

Titillation just for its own sake seldom works in gaming, but here, it’s been taken to new low. This virtual bikini romp suffers from poor graphics, primitive level design, and controls that will make the player feel like an idiot (or worse). If you really need to see Japanese girls in cosplay outfits to feel manly, just buy some tissue and browse the internet.

A beautiful but deeply flawed game whose mediocrity is all the more frustrating when you consider that gameplay could have been vastly improved with a few simple fixes. With a controllable camera or targeting system, the game would easily transition hateful to average.

Novelty is a little harder to come by. Dynasty Warriors Gundam doesn't aim to revolutionize either series, but it does represent a single, rocket-fueled step in the right direction.
