The horde and all that comes with its invasions really gives a new spin to the gameplay. Rome II fans will feel at home, especially when playing sedentary populations, but when you take control of the nomads, everything feels fresh. Moreover, the devs took care in solving some of the main issues of the predecessor. That's more than enough to please fans and newcomers as well, even if the core gameplay remains the same.

It suffers from repetitiveness and a lack of variety in its quests. But if you want a simple TPS that doesn't need a lot of thinking, you can give it a chance. And you can also end it without the needing a cent.

The Sims Freeplay is not free and honestly is not even "play". Indeed you actually can't play it if you don't want to spend money for getting all the actions complete. We found this slow gameplay really frustrating and we hope that EA will listen to the users.

Even if aspects like online multiplayer, graphic filters and general presentation have been taken care of, the absence of really interesting extras makes this project a kind of wasted opportunity.

The surprise debut - no surprise - of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion coincides with the return to the market of a role-playing game that is nothing short of memorable, which marked a fundamental stage in the journey of the series and its genre. The one put together by Virtuos is an atypical remake, which tries to reconcile a twenty-year-old gaming soul with a brand new body. Both the soul and the body show some significant rough edges, but it is truly impossible not to appreciate the work done by the Singapore team, creators of a Cyrodiil that resembles the one in our memories more than the scenario actually explored at the beginning of the 2000s. This is no small feat, mind you.

World of Van Helsing: Deathtrap is an interesting title, a good hybrid between a Tower Defence and an Action-RPG, but that becomes repetitive too soon.

Supported by an enchanting artistic direction and a tantalizing and very precise gameplay, Builder's Journey has only one major flaw: an almost never difficult difficulty that allows the completion of the 34 levels in a matter of hours.

Keeper offers a short journey, and that in itself is certainly not a flaw. The real issue lies in the way the adventure's time has been managed, with the first half containing its most visually and gameplay-wise brilliance. Unfortunately, just when it decides to mix things up, Double Fine's work suffers a dip in quality that's hard to ignore. Even if it's followed by a more successful and genuinely refreshing final section, it still makes a significant impact on a four-hour experience. If you're looking for a relaxing game that's not short on inexplicable creatures and fascinating scenarios—and this is even more true if you have a young player to keep you company—then give Keeper a chance. Those looking to experience Double Fine's "next big thing" would be wise to wait for future updates from Schafer and his team.

One of the best stealth experiences in this generation. Great freedom comes from a sandbox structure that allows the player to decide how to take out his targets. Multiplayer gives a boost to duration and add some extra flavor challenge.

If we had to define Planet of Lana 2 in one word, it would definitely be "maturity." The same maturity the development team has poured into this work, both in terms of story and gameplay, improving it in every aspect. Ultimately, the series is a little gem because, like its protagonist, it looks to the past with admiration while resolutely aiming for new directions in an adventure that still has much to tell.

In the ocean of remastered and remakes for their own sake, we are happy to be able to enthusiastically welcome the work done by Avantgarden on Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons Remake, a graphic and sound remake which, in the opinion of the writer, should be the standard for those who aim to relaunch their works on the market. It is a reissue that exudes love for the work done by Josef Fares and his team, and therefore worthy of respect. Whether you know the work or not, as the credits roll, it will be impossible not to get caught up in the emotion.

Net of some balancing problems, and some declines in the quality of the level design, the first Eternal DLC therefore marks an excellent debut for the post-launch journey of the title, with the complicity of a high-impact artistic direction and accompaniment substantially perfect musical.

Metroid: Other M has missed some of the expectations. The gameplay is flawed by some choices, and the control system is far from perfection. Still it has its merits: graphics are outstanding, and so is the combat, but it lacks most of the atmosphere of the previous installments. Other M is surely a Metroid, it represents a new way in the series, but it cannot stand as its definitive evolution.
