Zombie Army 4: Dead War is a solid addition to the zombie genre. Thoughtful enemy encounters and meaningful progression contribute to an energetic and chaotic pace. It’s also agreeably accessible for players across a range of skill levels whether you play solo or with friends. If you’ve never played a Zombie Army title and love killing Nazis, this is a great place to start.- Easy Allies

It’s obvious you get a tremendous amount of value for the price. If you crave a creative outlet, the tools here are effective and easy to learn, and the army of full or part-time developers appear ready to embrace your work. If you just want a wide range of weird games to play, you’ll find your queue refilled on a regular basis with surprises that couldn’t have been realized any other way. There are definitely things Media Molecule needs to focus on now that early access is over, and it’ll be a treat to see the game grow over time, but what’s here now is absolutely incredible.- Easy Allies

While Kunai might not stand toe-to-toe with the likes of Ori or Hollow Knight, there’s much to love, including fantastic controls, rewarding secrets, and zesty facial expressions. This little tablet has a lot of heart, and a lot of hats.- Easy Allies

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is a solid entry in the long-running line of games based on the franchise. It's clear CyberConnect2 put a lot of love into this project, and it especially shows in how the story and locations are presented. However, it's held back by repetitive combat encounters and dull side quests. Despite its shortcomings, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is still an enjoyable adventure whether you’re a long-time fan or a newcomer.- Easy Allies

Shovel Knight: King of Cards is a wonderful send-off to an already amazing game. Its platforming and level design are excellent, and the extra card game keeps us coming back for more. Though it's a little sad that this is the grand finale for a game we love so much, Yacht Club Games has done an excellent job with bringing the Shovel Knight saga to an end.- Easy Allies

This latest Need for Speed doesn’t have any luck-based schemes disrupting the progression this time around, but there’s nothing moving the series forward either. The core parts that have been strong in the past aren’t quite as potent here, and the supporting elements feel directionless and half-baked. Need for Speed Heat is like a beat up old ride that’s still good to burn some rubber and get you around town, but don’t expect to turn any heads along the way.- Easy Allies

Star Ocean: First Departure R is the best way to experience the original entry in a historically important series that often gets overlooked. It offers moderate quality of life improvements over its PSP counterpart, and retains the portable appeal with the Switch version. There’s a solid RPG here full of unique mechanics, charm, and lots of originality, but its age is definitely starting to show.- Easy Allies

Shenmue 3 faithfully continues the next chapter of Ryo Hazuki’s journey. After an 18-year wait against seemingly impossible odds and expectations, the end result is mostly successful. Welcoming locations and an absorbing plot are held back by presentation issues, while the combat system just hasn’t come together. Regardless, Shenmue 3 is a nostalgic return to a different time and a priceless reward for anyone invested in Lan Di’s demise.- Easy Allies

If you have a decent interest in Pokémon, there is a largely enjoyable time to be had with the latest generation. There’s still a magic present that nothing else has been able to quite replace, and the improvements and additions are meaningful. It's also easy to want a mightier effort. There are times when you can see where the game could be so much better, and it's frustrating how it falls short of ideas that seem to be right in front of it. Whether it's the fact that a beloved pokémon might not be in the game, the mediocre story, or a strong sense of having seen a lot of this before, you may be left hoping that the next effort packs a more substantial punch.- Easy Allies

Star Wars is a beloved series, and when a new game comes out, some particular hopes and expectations come with it. There are excellent games in the franchise, but it's been a while since they’ve reached those heights. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order has combat that feels tight and impactful, and exploring each of its imaginative worlds gives a great sense of discovery. It’s a fantastic title that stands as one of the best Star Wars games yet.- Easy Allies

There’s a lot of potential in the combination of the Mario and Sonic universes, and the Olympic setting is one of the grandest stages of them all. Yet after over a decade, the developers simply can’t make the series live up to its massive billing. The retro angle could have been the missing ingredient, but the game doesn't lean into this strength enough. What’s left is a party game that’s fun for a few hours, but will just as quickly be forgotten.- Easy Allies

Luigi’s Mansion 3 shines with personality, and every time you take the elevator to a new floor, it feels like a pleasant surprise. The game does a lot to move the series forward, but in ways that feel so natural, it’s hard to imagine playing without its new additions. It’s easily the best game in the series, and we’re glad Luigi’s been given another chance to step out of the shadows.- Easy Allies

The world of Cat Quest 2 is sizable, but there isn’t much complexity in its minute-to-minute gameplay. However that directness, along with how quickly you level up, finish quests, and discover new locations, can make it a hard game to put down. You handle one task at a time, so it’s easy to pick back up or add a second player. At 8 to 10 hours or so, depending on your focus and patience, this adventure ends abruptly but doesn’t overstay its welcome. It’s challenging enough for solo players, but also fun for two players of any age and skill level.- Easy Allies

While there are some details to refine, what stands out most is just how complete and cohesive The Outer Worlds is. Every system works in tandem. Companions support your skills, people comment on what you wear, and choices have lasting consequences. There are so many variables in how the story can go, but as you play, it does such an excellent job of reinforcing your decisions and making you feel like you’re on the right path.- Easy Allies

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare successfully reimagines the iconic series. A few key mechanical additions refine combat in important ways while the campaign returns with some of the series’ best missions. MediEvil does a good job of addressing some of the problems found in the original while sticking close to the source material. The updated visuals and audio are great, and it’s more pleasant to play thanks to the improved interface. Even though some aspects can feel dated or way too straightforward, journeying through this dark and spooky world is still satisfying. Whether you're a fan of the original or enjoy other action-adventure games of the era, MediEvil is a solid choice.- Easy Allies

It's easy to go into detail about Indivisible's shortcomings, but they don’t take away from a quality that's more difficult to articulate. Spending even a short amount of time with the game shows how much love and care went into its construction. There are plenty of times when the detail in a completely incidental room will catch you off guard, which speaks to the overall commitment to the game's presentation, including the grand and varied soundtrack. It's clear that several aspects could have been much tighter, but there’s more than enough in its favor to make Indivisible worth serious consideration.- Easy Allies

Even though some concepts never really feel fleshed out, Concrete Genie's imaginative design is compelling. It’s often way too straightforward, and elements like the combat feel like afterthoughts. However, covering Denska's walls with vibrant illustrations brings a wonderful sense of satisfaction, and watching your genies come to life is a delight.- Easy Allies

Shadowkeep puts Destiny 2 in a healthy position to kick off year three. Excellent new quests set up an intriguing narrative that will continue as it moves forward. The new seasonal artifact helps to alleviate pesky power blocks, offering a much smoother climb to the top, while finishers add another wrinkle to the already excellent combat. Destiny 2: Shadowkeep doesn’t offer a tremendous amount of new content, but the refinements are worth celebrating.- Easy Allies

Rather than trying to latch on to current trends, Borderlands 3 stands confident in the fact that there’s still no other game that does exactly what this series does so well. The sheer creativity and inventiveness presented in its arsenal is hard to match, and while the humor may not be for everyone, it keeps the gameplay in perspective as we’re all just here to have a good time. It isn’t as big of a leap forward as Borderlands 2, but it’s well-refined and there’s a lot to experiment with to keep you coming back for more.- Easy Allies

If you’re fine with never completing the Impossible Lair, you’re still left with a great game. It’s a massive improvement over the original and a much better direction for the series. The way in which it handles its overworld is masterful, as is the way it interconnects with each level. Not to mention Grant Kirkhope and David Wise’s amazing talent is once again on display with another stellar soundtrack. Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair is a wonderful platformer that could have been even greater if only it stuck the landing.- Easy Allies

Though Code Vein starts off slow, nearly every aspect develops over time, gradually becoming more interesting and engaging. The environments and enemy designs leave much to be desired, but it also introduces intriguing ideas with its AI companions and Blood Code system. It’s not breaking any new ground, but there’s a solid game here if you stick with it.- Easy Allies

The prospect of playing alongside the Ghostbusters in a story that serves as a proper sequel to the original films is exciting, but this adaptation only leaves us heartbroken. Initially a captivating experience, the magic fades fast, dispelled by poorly designed sections, bad AI, and a repetitive gameplay cycle. Thankfully, the series has since been revived with new and upcoming films, but it’s a shame that Ghostbusters: The Video game squanders a golden opportunity to become something truly special in this medium.- Easy Allies

Though we’ve seen far more ambitious entries in the genre over the past year or two, Ori elevates itself by doing the basics very well and wrapping them in an emotional experience brought to life by stunning visuals and a wonderful soundtrack. If you missed out the first time around, here’s another chance to dive into the captivating world of Ori and the Blind Forest, and just in time before the sequel arrives early next year.- Easy Allies

The Surge 2 is a good follow-up to its predecessor. The level design and lock-on based combat are really enjoyable, but boss encounters and the story’s presentation feel a bit lacking. It won’t blow you away by any means, but it does well for what it is. If you’re a fan of the first game or simply want to see this type of game in a more futuristic setting, The Surge 2 is a fine choice.- Easy Allies

Link’s Awakening is as charming today as it was 26 years ago. This remake addresses many of the original’s shortcomings, but at the same time, the original still does a few things better. The new visual style is gorgeous, but the frequency of the performance issues leaves room for improvement. Despite this setback, precious few Zelda games have the emotional payoff or the narrative richness of Link’s Awakening. This is still an unbelievable adventure and an absolute must-play.- Easy Allies

What succeeds above all else is the script. The writers know the right times to drop references to the film and faithfully stick to the first story’s warmest moments. It’s a shame Gobbler’s Knob can’t look the same as it does in the movie, and there’s an unavoidable clunkiness to the way people move around, but there’s a surprising amount of heart in this goofy sequel. It’s worth experiencing if you’re already set up for VR and Groundhog Day is something you like to revisit again and again.- Easy Allies
