Dragon Fantasy: The Volumes of Westeria may have been a hit on iOS, but on a dedicated gaming handheld it's totally out of its league, offering mechanics far too outdated to be considered engaging these days.

This line of 3D Classics has been a great tribute to retro gaming, so far serving up 3D enhanced versions of some of the finest titles in SEGA's large catalogue of wonderful games, and, naturally, gives new fans a try at discovering them for the first time.

Rodea the Sky Soldier is simply a game that really needed more time, and a course correction. A lot of promising concepts are seen and experienced throughout, but the flying and Sonic homing-style combat would have been executed so much better with a bit more polish.

As questionable as some of the outside marketing practises are, Disney Infinity 3.0 stands above all its competitors in the toy-gaming genre. What cannot be questioned is that Disney has control over some of the most loved and sought after licenses.

The enjoyment of Etrian Mystery Dungeon will be very much dependent on how much a player enjoys the core experience of repeated dungeon excursions.

All in all, Stella Glow is a strong story that puts a clever twist on the tactical RPG format.

Honestly, Canvaleon a pretty good game, with some solid presentation and gameplay, but it's slightly let down by a lack of conveyance and a devilish difficulty.

Any fan of puzzle games would be well advised to pick up Ninja Usagimaru: The Gem of Blessings, but moving blocks around can only provide so much entertainment, even with a variety of movement options and tools available.

Perhaps one day Fatal Frame will be in better hands, but for now Maiden of Black Water ranks as one of the better horror games to come out in a long time.

LEGO Dimensions is filled with promise, but the paywalls and the requirement to regularly interact in-game massively impact upon the final product.

Some issues, such as the frame rate and the environmental hazard glitch, could, perhaps, be resolved with a patch. However, the reliance on trial-and-error design and the harsh spikes in difficulty found in the last third of the game are likely to be too trying for most gamers.

Chronus Arc may not be anywhere near as desirable as some of the other latest RPG releases, but for the price, it still manages to deliver a somewhat enjoyable traditional and recognisable Japanese role-playing experience.

It might be a little on the short end of the spectrum for the price, but the replayability offered compensates for the fact that it is not a terribly long game.

Chibi-Robo! Zip Lash is not the best Chibi-Robo - it is not even that great of a 2D side-scroller or platformer, either.

Quirky indie puzzle games these days seem to be a dime a dozen, and every Humble Bundle seems to come with eight new ones for the price of a nickel and two buttons.

Samurai Defender is not worth buying, especially not on the 3DS where it has a $3.99 price tag. Perhaps for 99 cents (or nothing at all, for that matter) it could actually be a worthwhile, yet tedious, distraction.

On the whole, it's fair to say that most spin-offs are doomed to live in the shadow of their more popular source materials. Even so, Happy Home Designer did have the potential to stand on its own two legs - the sole ingredient needed to confirm that fact being the element of fun, which it sadly lacks.

At a very basic level, the concept of My Zoo Vet Practice 3D is fine, but not enough thought has been put into how to extend the concept into an enjoyable game.
