Tales of Zestiria is a JRPG built primarily for Tales fans and those who truly want to be Tales fans.

Last Flag has many fun aspects to entertain players enough for a full weekend of gaming; however, it may be lacking the special sauce to ultimately click with enough of an audience to keep the live-service game running.

Serious Sam 4 is a no-brainer for fans of the series and is a game that fans of singleplayer/co-op shooters will likely enjoy too.

Repetitive gameplay and no sense of progression hamper an otherwise fine entry to the series. Super Mega Baseball 4 could be better if there was more to do than the same thing over and over again.

The Mafia Trilogy is, at the very least, two pretty good games and one not very good game for the price of one game. It’s certainly got a lot of content for the price, and there is plenty of fun to be had, if you’re into the very specific thing that they’re selling. I may be being too harsh to the second game here, but it certainly doesn’t help that the company it keeps make it look so much worse by comparison.

Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O does its job at introducing new fans to the franchise. It’s a fun refresh of an older game, but you won’t be missing out if you don’t pick up this title.

Mario Golf: Super Rush manages to be a mostly enjoyable experience but feels undercooked compared to its predecessors.

Each of the weapons are satisfying to learn and use, so even if you’re killing spiders and skeletons over and over again, there’s novelty built on top of the immediacy of each button press/click. It’s an enjoyable romp, even if the Gothic trappings never amount to much (it’s not even pulp horror quality, and it’s completely spoiled by spots of dreadful Stanley Parable style meta-textual commentary).

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed plays as great on the Nintendo Switch as it did on the Wii in 2008, but Aspyr limits Starkiller's true power over a console that can do so much more.

Evil Dead: The Game is a 4v1 asymmetrical multiplayer game that is more speed and combat-oriented than the stealthy slay-fest that is Dead by Daylight. It's a bit repetitive and doesn't add anything substantial for fans of the series, but it's still a bloody decent time.

Snake Pass is a colourful snake 'em-up platformer with hard to learn controls, but is original enough to be worth more than a passing glance.

This game takes many hours to play a campaign, which is a definite plus, but those hours can be quite tedious when cutscene loading and strange hang-ups occur.

Alone in the Dark 2024 revitalizes a classic franchise with a compelling setting and exploration focus, despite being marred by bugs and lacklustre combat.

10 Second Ninja X never truly reaches its pinnacle in the game-play department by a charming cast of characters and a surprising story push the game across the finish line.

Castle Story is a fun game but it does nothing revolutionary for the genre. Wait for a sale to grab it.

Despite its shortcomings, the game does somewhat make up with replayable missions. It’s worth revisiting each level with a different loadout and higher difficulty settings (which heightens the guard’s senses and adds insta-death on detection). An extra challenge mode can also be unlocked with achievements and rewards you with cheats to use in the campaign. Adding to the missions are high-value targets found across each level and mysterious intercoms with coded audio logs.

Super Meat Boy 3D has brief moments of fun, but messy controls make it feel a lot more frustrating than was initially intended.

Ashes of the Singularity is a good entry into the RTS genre. It has solid building blocks to grow into something even better over time with more content or mod support.

AER: Memories of old is perfectly fine, but it could have been something wonderful.

There will be a lot of people who will consider Accel World vs. Sword Art Online to be a good game, and as one of them, I am the most surprised by that.

The Final Station ends up being a linear game in the end (I dispelled the illusion of choice by playing it again and finding not much changed), but this short train is worth riding at least once. Combining light simulation aspects that only get better over time with a survival mode with diminishing returns is an interesting concept that shouldn't be ignored.

If you’re looking for a more conventional strategy title to add to your Switch library, World Conqueror X is perfect for you. I think the game works best in handheld mode, as it’s not boasting the most visually appealing style.

Madden NFL 23 is the best entry in the franchise in the past 10 years, but with such a low bar to clear and EA effectively having no competition, it can feel too similar to prior games to warrant the hefty $69.99 price tag.
