An enjoyable F2P fighting game that’s a bit scant in terms of content and reaches into your wallet as often as possible without crossing the border into the pay-to-win territory. [09/2015, p.58]

Let’s not kid ourselves – Scanner Sombre is a one-trick pony. It’s a great, memorable trick though, as one could expect from Introversion Software. It’s a shame that the game is so short (ca. 2 hours) and linear and that the story is almost nonexistent. [07/2017, p.67]

SLRE can’t compete with the titans (i.e Forza Horizon 2) but it is doubtlessly the best rally game by Milestone. [03/2016, p.63]

Chinatown Detective Agency accurately shows that a detective’s work consists mainly of research but the developers forgot that puzzles alone, even fresh and creative, are not enough. The game could use a better designed world and a more interesting story that doesn’t fizzle out after a decent beginning.

Extended Edition is addictive, but owes it to the brilliance of Ensemble (the developers of the original AoM), not SkyBox, who basically put their name under someone else’s work after introducing changes so marginal that you might not even notice them. [07/2014, p.70]

The game is short (2-3 hours) but had it been longer, babysitting the two-year-old could have become a burden instead of an adventure worth experiencing. [08/2014, p.71]

In these kind of moments it’s common to write about an ‘unfulfilled potential’ but after playing I can’t be bothered to do even that. Although it takes just one look at the game’s aesthetics to see how well and honestly the developer was able to render the Game Boy-pretend visuals. [13/2018, p.74]

BlazeRush’s gameplay is too shallow to keep you occupied for hours and the game itself lacks a spark that would make you shout ‘WOW!’ every now and then. [01/2015, p.57]

I’m waiting for Lego Worlds to be thoroughly patched (right now it suffers from some technical issues and the camera is seriously annoying) and I intend to revisit it on regular basis as a perfect family game. [05/2017, p.54]

Expansion packs should expand, damn it, not reduce. Jokes and dialogues are not funny in Gat out of Hell, satire is off the mark, visuals are ugly, gameplay is crude and the city uninteresting. [03/2014, p.64]

What looked great crammed into 3 minutes of a trailer turned out to be boring when stretched over a whole campaign. In small doses combat is very satisfying and a mature take on Middle-Earth is very welcome. [December 2011, p.68]

It could have been a perfect VR game (as it’s based on the best racing game PS4 has to offer), but turned out painfully mediocre. Literally painfully, because every time I played it, it gave me a headache after less than an hour. [13/2016, p.78]

With its 100% old school gameplay (rocket jumps, strafe running, medkits, three lives, killer speed) Wrack is a worthy heir to id Software’s tradition. [Dec 2014, p.79]

River City Saga: Three Kingdoms is a side-scrolling brawler developed with love, full of humor and surprisingly rich in content. You won’t find a more charming series in this genre and Three Kingdoms shows how much you can still squeeze out of it by improving its formula.

Fantastic Pets is similar to Kinectimals but allows you to create your own pets by choosing body parts (legs, wings, tails etc.). In addition you can see them running around your room, but these Augmented Reality elements are rather weak as the real world appears very dark on screen. Still I can see a big group of 3-, 5- or 7-year-olds that will enjoy this game. [August 2011, p.73]

Takes inspiration from Mass Effects, but offers a richer, more tactical combat. Usually there’s a reason for scheduling a game release for the slow summer season, but The Bureau turned out to be a really good game. [CD-Action 10/2013, p.56]

The competitive mode is fine, but the rest of the game is not. It’s short (no unnecessary background-building scenes whatsoever), the characters are just shallow cut-outs, the choices seem meaningless and on top of all I experienced some technical issues. [01/2018, p.64]

It spawns enemies behind your back, fails to improve lame AI and contains a range of bugs (e.g. enemies hitting you through a closed gate). BioWare failed to convince me that they are capable of learning from their mistakes. [Sept 2011, p.65]
