I had been playing Brickies a bit over the extended weekend, and while I love the idea, it needs more polish before I can fully recommend it.

This would be a fantastic game if it had better controls.

I'm a big Marvel fan, but I am really disappointed with Avengers Initiative. Marvel had a great opportunity here, but really screwed it up.

If you are looking for a retro arena-based arcade shooter that has some humor thrown into the mix, then you should check out Get Me Outta Here. Just be warned about the controls, as they need to be better streamlined.

I recommend giving Super Gridland a try if you are in the mood for a challenging turn-based match-three kingdom-building RPG.

If you are a fan of puzzle games, specifically these type of trapped room games, you will likely get quite a bit of enjoyment out of Edna and Harvey. Just make sure you go into it with a patient attitude and a desire to explore every aspect of the game, because that is definitely what is asked of players. This is not a game for those of you who are easily frustrated.

The repetitiveness of this game becomes apparent all too quickly. The process goes from upgrading in the garage, to zipping through the level, and turning zombies into red smears. Rinse and repeat.

However, while Baum looks and sounds great, the controls are a big problem for me right now, and I can’t fully recommend the game until it is better optimized in an update.

It may be cute, but the gameplay leaves a lot to be desired.

I love the vintage aesthetic because it takes me back to my childhood, and the music is well done. The roguelike and randomly generated levels may not be for everyone, but I do like that it keeps things fresh and interesting every time you play. The touch screen controls do need a bit more work before they feel streamlined for a touch interface, though, so hopefully that is coming sooner rather than later. I do recommend Meganoid(2017) if you enjoy tough roguelike platformer games.

While I was not a fan of the freemium mechanic, you can't beat an app that's free to play. Just keep in mind that you may only be able to play this game once every few hours unless you want to spend the cash to play more often.

This game is not going to please serious pinball players. It is more like a kids version of the tabletop game.

Overall, this game is a lot of fun for fans of zombie themed first-person shooter games. Unfortunately, it is so difficult that you get frustrated and wish for a med pack to help you survive, which you can only really get by paying real cash for.

If you’re in the mood for a relaxing little golf puzzle game, then I recommend giving OK Golf a try, but be warned about the controls. Hopefully that’s fixed sooner rather than later.

I think this is one of the bigger disappointments of the year for me. I was eagerly looking forward to Puzzle Fighter for months, as I'm a sucker for matching puzzle battle games. However, this just feels like a cash grab from Capcom and has no soul to it. Personally, it's like an empty shell to me, and that's sad. Aside from the endearing graphics, there's not much else that's good about this game.

It's not the best hidden object game I've ever played, but if you're in need a hidden object fix, it will serve.

Because of the fast paced gameplay, I feel like Swipe the Deck is oriented towards match-three fans rather than poker fans. If you're a match-three fan looking for a multiplayer game, I'd pick this up, but stay away if its single player gameplay you're craving.

It's easy and fun to explore, the games are simple, and you can use your earned coins to buy all kinds of new outfits and weapons.

I kind of enjoy tapping away at these glass blocks anyway just to kill some time and working with thousands of others towards one ultimate goal.

You won't be able to progress through this game without purchasing coins unless you want to spend a lot of time waiting. Combined with the advertisements on the bottom of the screen, I found Coin Army to be more irritating than fun. It also sent unrequested notifications, which I find intolerable.

Don't get me wrong, it is fun to manipulate the puzzles and solve them, but I would recommend a lite version of the game over the paid one (if a lite version existed).

A decent casual title, but it's no Fruit Ninja. At this point in time, Thirsty Fish is overly simplistic and overpriced at $1.99. While I'd recommend it to those of you who love casual titles, I'd also recommend waiting for a sale.

War of Words Apocalypse is free to play, but it is ad supported with incredibly intrusive ads. Full screen ads are shown after almost every turn, and it takes several seconds before you can tap the tiny check box to close the ad. Tapping in the wrong spot will open the ad, and it's very easy to tap on accident.

The missions can get a bit repetitive, but the incentive of earning coins to upgrade your platoon, recruit new soldiers, and buy new weapons should keep you coming back for more.

If you aren't worried about the possibility of a major crash while playing this game, I recommend it for fans of endless runners.

This is a decent physics-based game with a lot of potential, but I experienced entirely too many crashes and frustrations to recommend it. If you're interested in this game, I'd put it on your list and watch for an update before purchasing it.

I like the look of the game, but hate the execution of it. This game is just not worth the download.

Even though this is a clone of an already popular game, it is still fun. No, you don't want to buy it if you already own SpellTower. It isn't as good. However, if you have not yet experienced the game this is modeled after, it is a fun word game that combines arcade action with spelling.

The gameplay itself is great. I like having to come up with words as fast as possible. That part of the app is worth the download. However, players have no control over their games.

A fairly generic shooter that tends towards being overly easy.

Galaxy Cat has a great concept, but flawed execution. If you have a stylus to play with, that could potentially make this game a lot better. It does have cute graphics and decent gameplay, so it may be worth the risk to try.

The gameplay is unexciting, the interface is poorly designed, and the content is downright boring. Though this is a free game, your time would be better spent finding something else to play.

If you like waiting around a lot or enjoy spending real cash multiple times for the same game, you might not mind this one. Otherwise, I'd recommend skipping it.

Challenge friends, or play against a computer-generated character in this fast and fun game of cards.

Lumigon has impressive graphics which are optimized for the iPhone 5, along with piano music that sounds like it was taken directly from Harry Potter, but the gameplay just didn't hold up for me. Still, if you're looking for something to play in short bursts of time, this is a decent game.

This game is fun, but it is a little too complicated.

The controls work well, but moving the tiles around felt more like a chore as I try and figure out the correct path, and sometimes the game doesn’t explain things well enough, such as the crystal energy tanks.

I would personally hold off on Tower of Fortune 3 until the developers make some fixes to the difficulty in the beginning of the game. But if you’re looking for a real challenge and are up to the task, then by all means, go for it.

Fantasy Mage is not a terrible game, but it certainly did not live up to my expectations. However, it’s a decent time-waster and a lighthearted game that could be good for casual players.

Personally, I would hold off on Steelbound Sky until it gets some much needed improvements in the visual department and more responsive controls. But it is rather innovative, I’ll give them that.

In its current state, I can’t recommend @mos. Perhaps if the developer were to improve the game more with improvements, variety, and online leaderboards, then it would be something worth looking into if you’re a Space Invader fan. But at the moment, it’s a pass.

If you are looking for a true challenge and like to test out your reflexive skills, then Crooked Path is a game to check out. Be warned though — this one is clearly not for the faint of heart (or the easily frustrated).

Missileman is a fast-paced vertical shooter arcade game that will keep you entertained in your downtime. If you love stylistic games and explosive missile action, then Missileman is the game for you.

I recommend Pan-Pan only if you enjoy open-world puzzle adventure games and have no problem figuring out what you’re supposed to do without a guide.

While the game is entertaining and challenging, it is frustrating to only get through six levels before feeling like an in-app purchase is the best way to continue playing. It is too bad. The game is a lot of fun.
