When a game feels like two or three elements that could only be used to make a ten-scoring title better then that leaves Truck Me Harder short of any real gameplay substance.

The story itself is at least well implemented and there is some enjoyment to be had, if you can persevere through the unwieldy control system, reams of irrelevant dialogue and woefully dated graphics.

It's sad to say, but after playing this I spent a good few hours playing Wolverine's Revenge and having more fun in the process - and that game is over three years old!

Carnival Games is one of those games that you want to love for its unique appeal and for trying something different, but it just feels rushed and only half-completed.

Driver 76 is a disappointing title; the foolish cops, short story mode, long loading times and useless collectables all contribute to the downfall of the overall gameplay.

So yes, arcade simplicity can be fun, but as WWII Tank Commander has proven, it can also be very boring.

Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi fans in the five to ten year age range will probably love this game because it isn't very difficult, it's based on well-known cartoon characters and there are a few mini-games and incentives that will keep them entertained.

If you're looking for a cute adventure game for your GBA that has some decent writing and lasts a good while, I'd urge you to look into The Sims 2.

Ford Street Racing is a budget game with some high production values, like a reasonable reproduction of LA, some neat ideas in the Team Racing mode, a good range of handling types and convincing AI drivers. The problem is, it's limited and boring.

The story, characters and control system are all lacklustre, and even the sniper mode that regularly pops up for you to save a hostage from the grips of a terrorist is badly designed, as the times are too quick to clear the area and you end up with innocent blood on your hands.

What I cannot forgive is that the combat is horribly balanced - it is the worst of both worlds, a game that demands overwhelming levels amounts of micromanagement yet provides entirely too few tools and opportunities to make it happen.

For a brief play it serves a purpose well enough, but if you really want to get the most out of this exciting period of ancient combat then you'll want to wait until something more inspired comes along, because Ancient Wars is just a bit too spartan to give you the experience that you are hoping for.

The only thing that's surprising about Beatdown: Fists Of Vengeance is that the usually reliable and innovative Capcom have lent their name to it.

The Incredible Hulk is the kind of game that you play for the hell of it but never really manages to blow your mind. Fun, flawed, clumsy, and effortlessly violent, Hulk does exactly what you'd expect and if wanton destruction is what you're looking for then give it a whirl.

It just doesn't have that extra degree of enjoyable gameplay, innovation, audiovisual nuances and addictiveness to make it a serious contender in what is now a very saturated and cutthroat gaming genre.

The main problem with Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure is that it doesn't add anything new to a well-worn genre. If anything, it takes a smattering of ideas from other RPGs and tones them down quite a bit.

Word Puzzle is a nice title for those looking for a decent word search experience in videogame form and the added modifiers such as bomb timers and stringing words together for extra points is a nice idea to bring in a wider audience, but the constricted playing space that's just completely unwarranted really hinders the gameplay when you get to the later stages of the game with larger board types.

This is a product developed as a labour of love for over a decade, with the core aim of bringing the RTS genre back to its roots, away from the glitz and glamour of 3D graphics and tacked-on RPG elements its creators claim have watered down the genre. Instead however, we end up with a half-finished product, brought to its knees by game-breaking bugs and the absence of key gameplay modes, which ends up looking considerably better than it plays.

With lacklustre visuals, tedious training exercises, an unforgiving difficulty curve and gameplay that fails to offer anything new or, indeed, much in the way of enjoyment, this is one tennis game that you're best off avoiding, because it's likely that if you do pick it up, you'll be lobbing it into your local game store's bargain bin pretty soon.

With the exception of long time fans of the series, it's hard to recommend World Heroes Anthology to anyone with any real conviction. Thanks to its lack of originality, below par animations and questionably implemented controls, World Heroes Anthology can be seen as little more than an average collection of Street Fighter II clones.

The creation aspect of Dungeon Maker is quite enjoyable to begin with, but the constant battles, digging and eating turn this initially fun RPG into a very tedious exercise indeed.
