The scenario feels fresh, the dialogue puzzles are the highlight of this adventure, that overall is not challenging enough.

Civilization 7 manages to surprise as well as challenge me and my expectations at a classic Civ-game. The developers dare to do one of the most drastic gameplay changes in the series and break with old patterns. It is a fine line between revolution and alienation.

In VR, too, Resident Evil Village is a wild ride through the village of horror, which, however, suffers from well-known design weaknesses and sometimes weak adaptation for VR.

Shadowmatic is a decent puzzler and fancy representative of the so-called zen gaming. Even though it doesn’t offer the variety or the challenge of The Room this is an entertaining experience.

The world design is top notch, the story and quest integration is much improved. But there are also a few new elements, above all the Heart of Azeroth, that fall flat.

Sweet cozy game fun for Hello Kitty fans and a young target group. Well suited for in-between times and for a relaxed pastime; but in the long run it may be negligible.

You don’t always need “bullet hell” in a shoot-em-up. Raiden 5 is a solid old school arcade experience with an interesting rhythm to the action while delivering a decent challenge.

With over 80 minigames you get a lot of content. Unfortunately most of the games are short and simple.

Pendulo is on the right track. The conspiracy thriller with its’ complex story keeps you on your edge, while the puzzles are mostly conservative, but are nicely tailored to the narrative.

Wild, frantic and motivating: a simple, but entertaining twinstick shooter with retro visuals.

Fortunately Tower of Guns doesn’t bite off more than it can chew. It delivers a nice mix of arena shooter and rogue like.

The mixture of base building, expansion and defense works well - especially in survival mode. The campaign is a big disappointment, though.

Solid collection with three classics, all of which still pack a punch. I would have expected more than a mere resolution upgrade to 1080p, though.

Moving house actually can be fun. As long as you don’t play solo, this delivers some decent party entertainment. It is not as sophisticated as Overcooked 2, but also much less prone to stress and frustration.

Decent homage to Japanese arcade games. Especially the coop-sessions are entertaining, even though there is a lack of items as well as no elaborate story at all.

The pinball experience behind the lenses of PSVR is just as great as it was on Rift. But here (and even on PS4 Pro) you get jaggy visuals that make sure you don’t play as long as you intended.

While the visuals cannot keep up with the big brothers on PS4, One and PC, the Switch version does a decent enough job to maintain the essence of Doom. And that is a gloriously violent no-frills old school shooter.

If you have a lot of friends at your disposal, Zombie Army Trilogy offers decent entertainment on Switch thanks to a solid port.

A genre diamond in the rough that unfortunately still suffers from balance problems and strange decisions, but could definitely blossom into a real Civ 6 alternative.

The ecological system as well as the crafting are cool, but the need for useless repetition gets on your nerves after a while. Nonetheless you can expect a merciless fight for survival with a captivating art design.

In its best moments is like a bag of potato chips: You just can’t stop. There’s a level-up, there you have to collect stuff, you distribute new weapons and play matchmaker for a few couples. But it also has its share of bad moments, where everything is drawn out, where it lacks challenge.

With human competition Nidhogg stages captivating sword fighting duels. But the surprisingly deep fighting system suffers from lack of content and a weak campaign.

A pleasant surprise: Journey of the Broken Circle turns out to be a small, but nice playable essay on human relations.
