I did not find it to be as entertaining as I would have hoped. The challenge of the gameplay was also lacking, even though it is pretty difficult to get three stars on each level.

A fantastic, atmospheric game with absolutely gorgeous visuals and tremendous replay value. You'd have to be insane to pass this up, although you may end up that way, regardless.

Anyone looking to see what happens when Angry Birds gets a healthy injection of creativity should check out Monkey Bongo. Its flaws are small but persistent enough to keep it from being one of the best iOS games around but not enough to stop it from being an incredibly enjoyable one.

If a very difficult puzzle with a unique twist of integrating tetherball mechanics is something of interest, then Centripetal will be plenty of fun. Beware, its difficulty is fierce, but its addictiveness is even more fierce.

Monster Burner is a fantastic mix of different game types ensuring that it will appeal to almost everyone. There's even a special mode, alongside the numerous other levels, aimed at children. It's a true must have for all iPad gamers.

There's a lot that needs to be worked on in Arcade Jumper. I'm a fan of retro-inspired games; this one just has some issues. I like many of its concepts and use of external controls, but it just needs a lot of work before it can be something really great.

A dark platforming adventure that most players may find too short.

GoGo Tunnel Runner's core gameplay is a little thin. But the new levels, as well as the cheap price, do a good job at making up for it. It's a neat twist on an established formula.

While Age of Defenders follows the typical path of a tower defense game, it offers one fundamental and potentially compelling difference: a focus on multiplayer gaming.

VH1 Celebrity Party is a simple title with no fancy graphics other than images of the relevant celebrities. However, much like the game it's based on, with the right people, it's a blast. For the anti social gamer, though, it's probably best to give it a miss.

Fans of the Metroidvania genre of platformer will find a great example of the genre here.

The levels that are included do offer up enough of a challenge to provide a good chunk of gameplay – it's certainly not the case that they'll be blitzed through in one sitting. Which leaves us with a title that, while not perfect, is certainly worth a little look. Let's just hope the new levels aren't too far away from appearing.

The only thing missing is any sort of social gaming network integration. This is a game that screams for achievements and leaderboards, and I hope to see some in an update soon.

Paper Zombie Halloween is a reasonably entertaining game for what it is. The visuals are cool, the music is surprisingly solid and the various tools used to dispatch the shuffling ghouls are fun to use. It's a bit repetitive and I'm not a fan of the shifting camera, but it's a good casual (and free) arcade game overall.

The best way to let the inner pirate out. A combination of a compelling storyline, decent graphics and an excellent RPG style gameplay take the gamer on a deep sea adventure they will soon not forget.

Fun, funky and well worth checking out. Just make sure it doesn't cause too much distraction at work; there are some bosses who make MasterBotrix look downright cuddly in comparison.

A delight on the iPad. With fun sound effects, beautiful rich graphics, multiple achievements and opportunities for bonus points, quick learning curve but challenging mastery, Zepi:Classic would be a great addition to the collection of go-to-games for quick plays, like hanging out in the nail salon waiting for your manicure to dry.

Despite essentially being the same game as the others in the series, I still think it is a solid title that is a welcomed addition. It brings to the table the original gameplay that we all know and love with some minor, yet clever differences. Having said that, I do not feel that the price makes this game worth it as it is just more of the same.

Obscure metrics aside, Drawin' Growin' is a fun game. I really enjoyed watching the different areas of the kingdom spring to life as I completed levels, and the hectic all-at-once management style of gameplay fits the iOS style perfectly.

Zombie Slash clones Fruit Ninja to a ridiculous level, but for those not bothered about innovation and originality, the game offers plenty of spooky fun that's ideal for the Halloween season. Despite my better judgement wanting to pick on Zombie Slash for its blatant copying, I couldn't help but enjoy my time playing it.

Players craving a super simple platformer might enjoy Arch Fiery, but the game doesn't have much more than that to offer; other than some cool fire effects.

This game isn't supposed to pack in a life-time of replay value, and its greatest appeal is likely to be to children. But, enough attention went into the small details to make this a better seasonal title than most that flood the app store at this time of year, and worth the $.99 to keep overexcited kids in check until the big day.

It's a very well made game, with highly polished visuals and very responsive controls, it's a lot of fun, and a heap of frustration is relieved by the "so close" message that appears when being one move away from completing the level, saving me from going around in an endless circle.

Modern Combat 3 looks great, no question, but it's the smaller details like animations and the occasional slow-motion kill shot that really draw the eye.

Blackjack by Yazino allows players to connect with their friends and play at the same table, which adds a bit more fun to the game. There is also in-app chatting, which can be useful for saying great job or heckling the amateurs. For card enthusiasts looking for an easy way to play blackjack by themselves or socially, this app will do the trick.

I thought the gameplay was very clever and it was nice to finally be on King Kong's side instead of fighting against him like we see in the movies.

If this was a paid-for game, I'd recommend that any aspiring virtual pilots went out and bought it. It's almost like a fully featured, mobile version of the HAWX games we see on consoles. The fact that its free, however, means it should certainly be trialled. Even if the always-online requirement can be a bit of a pain when not connected via WiFi.
