There's just enough content to get a taste, and the multiplayer goes a long way to extending its shelf life.

Unfortunately, this game's finer points are often overshadowed by the fact that WonderCraft appears to be another in a long line of games offering shallow mechanics and innocuous progression in an attempt to funnel players to in-app purchases.

All snark aside, it is the perfect compliment for Trainz Simulator on iPad. If you are looking for a title to scratch A coal-hauling itch, this is the right station to pull into.

The lack of a strong storyline is unfortunate but thanks to its well paced nature, there's still some suitably entertaining fun to be had as one travels round Europe buying up everything possible.

Offering some tough but lateral thinking based puzzles works well for The Impossible Test 3, even if its replayability is limited.

Clay's Reverie is for the obsessive in all of us and will take multiple restarts to finish levels, which will be loved by the hardcore puzzler lovers.

With over 100 levels available it's worth every penny and while its experience isn't the deepest, it's an enjoyable ride to take nonetheless.

Shiny The Firefly is a nice, easygoing game with lovely background art that provides players with obstacles and challenges that most people can appreciate.

A little too much importance placed on premium currency drags down an otherwise perfectly enjoyable action RPG.

The core experience still boils down to dragging icons on top of icons until something happens and a new icon is made, but the added structure, pseudo-achievements and inability to accidentally – and tediously – recreate something that's already been discovered (thank you for that, Mind Vacation) make it feel unique.

Despite the Sonic the Hegehog undertones, SpeedyPups isn't quite a success. But it does capture a sense of speed well.

Big Buck Safari is fun, but it isn't a very deep game. Animals run, players shoot at them by tapping, that about sums it up. Fans of other hunting titles looking for more environments to hunt in may want to give it a look.

Descent: The Adventure has some potential but it's far too rough at the moment. Too rough and not very fun, sadly. There's always a chance it could see a few improvements along the way but until then it's probably best to keep a safe distance.

Just when you thought it was safe to venture outside, a teenager gains control over the undead.

Overall it's a good free-to-play game that almost gives players the monster brawling they've been clamoring for. It's just the fights that drag it down.

Some might knock The Sky is Falling due to its extremely simple nature, but I'd consider that unfair. Simple games are great for the pick-up-and-play nature of iOS. Especially when the simple games are fun and make us reflexively try again and again since it's so easy to "just try one more time."

Froad is cute and the plentiful supply of achievements goes some way to extend longevity, but this is clearly a title best for young gamers. On the iPad in particular, it'll be an ideal distraction for the young.

Amelia vs. the Marathon comes out of the gate with some ambitious new ideas but stumbles a bit over their execution. However, eventually it gets going and becomes a race worth seeing through until the end.

Mailmen is a cute, clever idea for a game which just seems to be missing a few key components. All the elements are there, but it doesn't quite fit together perfectly.

Far from an unique title, Pet Rescue Saga is still a quite fun, if in-app purchase heavy, Match Three-style puzzle game.

At just a dollar, it's hard not to recommend this throwback of a game to fans of text adventures or good writing. But it is important to note that the experience won't last more than an hour – even with multiple endings. Still, if the concept piques an interest, it's worth a look.

Shiver: Vanishing Hitchhiker isn't going to be a game that taxes old hands at the adventure gaming genre, but it is a decent example of what publisher Big Fish Games can offer. It'll only take around 3-4 hours to complete but it's a fun experience with the option of two difficulty levels, affecting play.

BEAT DRIFT counts on a player's logic in order for them to survive. It's techno beat and visuals will likely arrive as a delight to most, but it's difficulty levels could do with a tweak or two.
