Season 3 debuts March 1 on Disney+
Andor may be the better Star Wars series—and The Last of Us may be the buzzier Pedro Pascal series—but The Mandalorian still offers plenty of reasons to enjoy it. One of those reasons (aside from Grogu): It's much better than spinoff series The Book of Boba Fett. Unfortunately, you'll need to watch the latter to fully understand what is going on in Mandalorian as it returns for its third season, though series creator Jon Favreau has promised that there will be at least one video explainer to fill in the details.
Disney has yet to announce an official renewal for The Mandalorian, but a fourth season has apparently already been written and could begin filming this fall despite recent suggestions from Disney management that the pace of Star Wars (and Marvel) releases could slow in the near future. And two new Star Wars shows are still expected to debut later in 2023: Ahsoka, a spinoff from The Mandalorian centering on Rosario Dawson's character, and Skeleton Crew, a coming-of-age adventure set in the same time period as The Mandalorian.
