Fantasy series debuts April 23 on Netflix. Welcome to the "Grishaverse." Netflix's series adaptation of Leigh Bardugo's best-selling YA fantasy novels (five books spanning two series, Shadow and Bone and Six of Crows) comes from Eric Heisserer (Bird Box) and Shawn Levy (Stranger Things). If you are unfamiliar with the books, expect a complex, epic fantasy world based on Russian mythology that is populated by differently abled practitioners of magic (or "Small Science" in the books' terminology) called the Grisha. But if you are a fan of the novels, expect numerous changes (and new material) to enable characters from both sub-series to coexist in the same timeline. This first season spans eight episodes.
