After a promising start, the LP soon defaults to a brand of quirky, over-stimulated electropop that doesn't really do justice to Woodhead's smart, conceptual lyrics. [May 2015, p.72]

Air Conditioned Nightmare has fewer traces of the experimental Montreal loft party scene Doldrums originally emerged from, but it's not quite accessible enough for big festival stages either.

There are good ideas somewhere inside The Air Conditioned Nightmare, and anyone determined enough to look might get something out of them. Lyrics ranging from naively clichéd to slyly astute.

There's something here, but it's not totally revealed and unfortunately, the record feels more like a notebook of unwhittled concepts than an assertive statement.

Lots ofThis album fluctuates between high and low energy tracks, starting with high energy HOTFOOT, the standout track in my opinion. Lots of concepts are being thrown around here. Listening to this, I was never bored. Contrary to what a lot of people have said about this album, I think the lyrical content is one of the highlights. Doldrums isn't making a statement, but he is exposing a lot of personal experience and thought along with interesting ideas. Full Review »
