    This is definitely a contender for the best album of the year! For a debut album, Olivia Rodrigo managed to exceed expectations. I love how she delivered pure vocals, lyric genius, best new artist and storytelling writing ability on each track on the album. Olivia's career will definitely be at its highest peak for this. She's a star to look forward to! Superb album!

    Amazing debut album! I love how olivia put brutal as the first track and hope ur ok as the last track. I rarely get goosebumps when I listen to songs, but some songs in this album give me goosebumps even after I listen to them multiple times.

    It’s boring (lyrics and sound) and so monotonous. People say she is introducing rock/punk to the younger generation on this album but it isn’t close. The only songs I think are ok: good 4 u, brutal, jj and traitor.

    Ever since drivers license came out earlier this year, I have always been grappled by Olivia Rodrigo’s uncommon ability to write phenomenal lyrics. In fact, her first three singles (which I have basically listened on repeat to) were so timely with my personal experiences. Somehow, Rodrigo is able to explain the sea of countless emotions that I know a good number of people have experiences at least sometime in their life, and she does this accompanied by music that is a blast to listen to. For a debut album, this is off the charts. I can honestly say that I am not the type of person who gives out 10s to every album I come across (just check my other reviews out!), but this one absolutely deserves it. The album is balanced beautifully, with calm piano or acoustic guitar-based songs mixed in with “Taylor Swift meets Green Day'' tracks that are exceedingly fun to listen to.

    I really wish that I could include my song-by-song commentary, though that would push my review past the character limit.

    As a whole, Rodrigo makes a remarkable debut with her first album, SOUR. There was obviously a lot of hype surrounding it, and I can absolutely say that it definitely lived up to my expectations. The sound of the album is terrific, but I feel like Rodrigo truly shines in her most energetic songs (her belting voice sounds surprisingly good). That being said, her lyrics are really what is first and foremost the most brilliant part of this album. Somehow she is able to beautifully convey complex feelings and in addition to that she packs her feelings very eloquently in music form. I know SOUR was just released, but I greatly look forward to hearing what Rodrigo produces in the future. I believe all lovers of music will appreciate SOUR, as it is a combination of multiple forms of music. Olivia Rodrigo, in the miniscule chance that you are reading this, know that SOUR is, I kid you not, one of the best albums I have listened to. You are awesome!     So many of these songs are relatable and yet dry, lame. Brutal begins the album on a high note, being drastically different than most every song on the album. It's a pop punk song at its core, showcasing Rodrigo's voice in a way that is far more pleasing than the rest of the album. Brutal is my pick for this album's best song. Traitor brings my first issue with this album to light -So many of these songs are relatable and yet dry, lame. Brutal begins the album on a high note, being drastically different than most every song on the album. It's a pop punk song at its core, showcasing Rodrigo's voice in a way that is far more pleasing than the rest of the album. Brutal is my pick for this album's best song. Traitor brings my first issue with this album to light - relatable but lame songs. Every person I have asked thinks this song is relatable and that it stands as one of the best of the album - I think it starts a long spiral which doesn't stop until jealousy, jealousy. The second through eighth songs of the album are all lacking substantial character. Rodrigo's unique articulation is the only plus of her singing. I strongly believe Rodrigo missed an opportunity by not structuring this album around Brutal. I truly think she would be a very successful pop-punk artist if her discography focused on the style found in the album's first song. About half of the songs (6) are beautifully written, while the other half (5) are just not. Overall, I know she can do better in the future and she has a bright path ahead of her.     It’s so perfect and beautiful! Olivia Rodrigo is truly a lyrical genius. She really can bring up emotions and feelings in us that we didn’t even know was buried down in us.

    I relate more than I should relate with this AMAZING album, the lyrics are just incredible and it's crazy for a girl that age to write such truthful and emotional songs! She's the future.

    Olivia has said she is typically a sad song ballad song writer and there are definitely those songs on the album. But she also stretched herself to create more upbeat songs such as brutal and good 4 u that are some diversity to the album.

    Sour, for the most part, is a pop album that dips its toes into the alt-pop and bedroom pop subgenres, specifically spending most of its time in the latter. ... Rodrigo's lo-fi deep cuts that were made in the shadow of "Drivers License" can sound a bit repetitive. Her craft as a songwriter is especially evident on tracks like "Enough For You", "Happier", or "Hope Ur Ok", but the acoustic complexion these songs were going for could have benefitted from a bit more background noise.

    By the end of the album, Rodrigo has established her voice and showed listeners that she's not afraid to be vulnerable. SOUR is a strong debut that vividly illustrates the beautiful chaos of being inside a teenage girl's brain.
