Smile is a fantastic pop record with diverse production, career highlight vocals, and much like her career defining Teenage Dream - tell a concise and powerful story hidden in nuggets of pure pop gold. Highlights are the futuristic thumping club banger Cry About It Later, the somber dance floor release of Teary Eyes, the humbling reflections on Only Love and What Makes a Woman, and the irresistible sex appeal of Tucked. Katy seems to have found her footing, and is owning her brand. Katy is an artists that is bubblegum by choice. Katy doesn’t need to make pop records, but pop music needs Katy Perry.… Expand

    Definitivamente Katy Perry nos está uno de los mejores álbumes de su carrera, todas sus canciones fácilmente se pueden convertir en hits, lo triste es que la crítica la odia, pero no todo es malo, ella vive de sus fans y de las personas que les gusta su música, no de los críticos, que al parecer tienen mierd***a en los oídos de escuchar tanta Chromatica.

    I dont trust how the critics work by giving this album low rates because I do believe that it served it's purpose and it is to make the people smile. If I may protest, I think that the voice of people or the masses should matter more than the critics who seems to compare her either from her past voyage or to other artists which is harsh. She did it with glamor and with her deepest feelings. It is possible to see the smooth of all songs and how they heal while you go through it. My love for Cry about it later, Resilient, Champagne Problems and Tucked. She is definitely doing what she did best: sing with soul!… Expand

    There’s not one bad song on this record. Katy released an album she was proud of herself, one that was authentic and truthful. A part of me feels like we got the old Katy back but a much more mature and grown one. I’m proud to say the least.

    This is the come back I was waiting for! To be completely honest, I was a bit worried about the new tracks but I was wrong. They’re well written and produced. One of her best albums.

    just like in a circus this album is full of boring and monotonous jokes but they still manage to make us laugh at times, even for a brief moment.     This album is what the world doesn't understand it needs. All the tracks are meaningful and instrumentals are great. Katy Perry is indeed one of the few artists who has a sense of a good pop music.

    Without fleeting moments of bad taste, Perry does indeed sound mature, but she's also not quite as fun. That's a conscious choice, though. Smile is intended to evoke memories of her frivolous younger days while pointing toward a sustainable pop future.

    Like Joanne before Chromatica, Smile plays like a necessary centering exercise, indulging her insecurities and less surefire instincts. If Witness was overdetermined, Smile is an earnest exhale, for better or for worse. It delivers an image of her journey towards inner peace that is honest (if corny) and catchy (if not exactly inventive).
