Os "críticos" sempre cobraram uma mudança na sonoridade dela, e quando trouxe algo diferente em 2017 com o "Witness", foi massacrada da mesma forma. É um loop infinito de ódio. Comparam a carreira dela atualmente com os grandes sucessos do passado, como se issoUm álbum ótimo. É tóxico e desrespeitoso em alguns casos.

    For me, Katy has matured so much in her own art. She has always been trying to experience with new sounds, words. This album is a worthy record that you should spend at least 10 times listening to work out the messages Katy put in.

    Her best album and album of the year. I don't know why those critics gave low score to this masterpiece and a Bop Album. Shame to them. They might have problem with their ears.

    Without fleeting moments of bad taste, Perry does indeed sound mature, but she's also not quite as fun. That's a conscious choice, though. Smile is intended to evoke memories of her frivolous younger days while pointing toward a sustainable pop future.

    Like Joanne before Chromatica, Smile plays like a necessary centering exercise, indulging her insecurities and less surefire instincts. If Witness was overdetermined, Smile is an earnest exhale, for better or for worse. It delivers an image of her journey towards inner peace that is honest (if corny) and catchy (if not exactly inventive).
