I genuinely love it when artists create melancholic songs yet with an upbeat tempo and not to mention the lyrical excellence of the songs this record have. Indeed this is what we all need during these trying times we are experiencing right now, it depicts resiliency and knowing that there is still hope - as what the lyrics of Resilient says " I know there's gotta be rain if I want the rainbows" and "the darker the night, the brighter the stars glow".     Los críticos se están enfocando en la vida y el pasado de Katy Perry, no se están centrando en calificar el álbum. Un excelente álbum lleno de sonidos nuevos y frescos, nos muestra una línea lírica que va desde bailar en medio de lágrimas, reconocerse a sí misma como resiliente, hasta darnos un excelente mensaje de paz con only love.

    The queen of pop is back and better than ever! Smile is a deeply personal journey for Katy as she finds herself and and her smile again after years of emotional lows. Each song is unique and the message resonates so clearly, not to mention the production is flawless. There is not a skip to be found. Katy, this album could not have come at a better time!     Katy vuelve con su quinto álbum de estudio apenas horas después de haber dado a luz a su primogénita antecedido de varios sencillos como Daisies, Smile, entre otros, lamentablemente esta nueva era de Perry inició con el pie izquierdo ya que ningún sencillo estrenado previamente logró éxito, a excepción de Daisies que llegó a la posición #40 de los rankings estadounidenses. Desde WitnessKaty vuelve con su quinto álbum de estudio apenas horas después de haber dado a luz a su primogénita antecedido de varios sencillos como Daisies, Smile, entre otros, lamentablemente esta nueva era de Perry inició con el pie izquierdo ya que ningún sencillo estrenado previamente logró éxito, a excepción de Daisies que llegó a la posición #40 de los rankings estadounidenses. Desde Witness (2017) su público comenzó a darle la espalda y ni se diga del público en general lo cual ocasionó que la cantante de pop experimentara problemas de depresión severos, en base a esa experiencia y a su maternidad es como Smile fue concebido, un álbum que a simple vista parece ser más de lo mismo, de hecho, en cuestión de sonidos no hay una evolución notoria ni mucho menos una joya memorable como lo fue Teenage Dream, pero en cuestión de videos musicales puso lo mejor de sí misma aún en tiempos de pandemia y sus letras no es más que un reflejo de lo duro que han sido para Katy los últimos años y como le ha afectado el recibimiento de sus últimas canciones. Apunto a que no es una joya como Prism ni tampoco una biblia del pop como Teenage Dream, pero sin duda es un álbum que merece la pena y que ojalá su público la apoye como se merece.

    First, it includes singles that were released almost or more than a year ago. For me that is Lack of creativity for making new songs. Next, 12 songs for an “iconic” album, really? 12 songs is nothing and only 8 are really new songs, I really think that is, besides lack of creativity, also lack of interest for achieving an award or returning something to    This album is a really weird one.

The lyrics aren't bad, and some of the songs are relatively catchy.     I'm so proud of Katy Perry. I think this album it's the best. I enjoyed all the songs and felt so connected with them. I love it. It's amazing ♥️

    This is pop perfection. It brings joy and smiles in a time we would all like to cancel. It does not aim to be anything more, which is perfectly fine.

    Is such a great album, the lyrics of every song are so inspirational and powerful, Katy Perry is a great artist, she got her smile back, and her album is the prove :)

El álbum es un florecer de emociones, abre con una energizante Never Really Over; Da un giro en 180° pasando a Cry About Later y luego a una hermosa Teary Eyes, para llegar a la "balada" de Daisies, la cual nos crea un clima hacia la relajante Resilient, en ese instante estalla con la oscura Not The End Of The World; Posteriormente caemos en una alegre y pegajosa Smile, es ahi cuando logramos dar el giro de 360° dandonos la mejor cancion del album para mi, Champagne Problems, la cual es un extasis, mezclando voces, ritmos y mucho mas. Seguimos con una bonita Tucked, similar a Cake By The Ocean. Entramos a la fase final con una calmada, ademas de romantica Harley´s In Hawaii, la cual nos lleva a un tunel donde esta la envolvente Only Love, para lanzarnos a la luz, el cierre de album, la perfecta What Makes a Woman.     Without fleeting moments of bad taste, Perry does indeed sound mature, but she's also not quite as fun. That's a conscious choice, though. Smile is intended to evoke memories of her frivolous younger days while pointing toward a sustainable pop future.

    Like Joanne before Chromatica, Smile plays like a necessary centering exercise, indulging her insecurities and less surefire instincts. If Witness was overdetermined, Smile is an earnest exhale, for better or for worse. It delivers an image of her journey towards inner peace that is honest (if corny) and catchy (if not exactly inventive).
