‘Rare’ is a fantastic and cohesive pop album! It shows Selena’s growth personally and musically since her previous record ‘Revival’. It talks about themes such as self empowerment with tracks like; ‘Look at Her Now’ and “Cut You Off”, and vulnerability with tracks like ‘Vulnerable’ and the breathtaking lead single ‘Lose You to Love Me’. The infectious dance beats from songs such as ‘Dance‘Rare’ is a fantastic and cohesive pop album! It shows Selena’s growth personally and musically since her previous record ‘Revival’. The infectious dance beats from songs such as ‘Dance Again’ complement well with the slower and more relaxed sounding songs such as ‘Crowded Room’. Selena hadn’t released a full album of music since her 2015 ‘Revival’ but within the, just over, 4 years she released droplet singles which all feature on a deluxe edition of the album with all of them feeling at home on the record. It seems near impossible for Selena to top this album in her discography but Selena is all about growth and I’m pretty sure this will be seen once again in the future. Expand

Her best album, period. I personally think she finally found herself, especially when it comes to Rare. It is very obvious how much she improved and found what suits her voice the best.

This is one of the greatest pop albums I have heard in the past 10 years. Selena Gomez has always been a bop maker since the very start of her career, but something that I have noticed is that as soon as she switched to a new record label, interscope, she was able to write and explore new sounds that she wanted and show more of her vulnerable side than before when she was with HollywoodThis is one of the greatest pop albums I have heard in the past 10 years. umm Selenaaaa i know you could do betterr! it’s definitely not a bad album but it’s lowkey generic:( most of the lyrics r empty but vocally she is improving (at least studio versions) anyways i want an album full of songs like fetish, good for you, stained etc.

The best album, just perfect. This album takes you to a magical mood where you can feel and live what Selena tells you in each song where we see her maturity as an artist and as a human being.

'Rare' is a fresh, original and cohesive album. I can find similarities with Selena's past songs, like 'Fetish' and 'Bad Liar', but there are also new elements that showcase her maturity and nonconformity. Selena's shown to be brave and one of a kind, but also that we should respect her decision to take her time to make her own art, because, as this album shows, it works.

Rare continually teases intriguing forays into leftfield pop, but so many of the album’s experiments come off as just that, without ever crystallizing with memorable hooks.

The record she has delivered to kickstart a new decade is a career defining release, and from a pop star who is firmly back on top of her game.

While none of these 13 songs attempt the subtle weirdness of “Bad Liar” and the emotional thesis—self-love!—can be a bit one-note, Rare is the 27-year-old’s most cohesive record to date. ... But it’s difficult to come away from Rare with any real perspective on who Gomez is other than that she doesn’t want to be the person she was, whoever that similarly mysterious shadow was.
