This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is definitely Selena's best album to date and i hope she continues to show as much depth, growth and vulnerability in her next projects. She has a lot more to say and the songs are generally well produced and well written. It shows that the focused on herself more and she made a very honest and heartfelt album. Look at her now is very slick and confident tune on self empowerment. Rare, Ring,Let Me get me are also other songs that show a lot of confidence, empowerment and self assurance and i love this coming from Selena. The ballad Lose you to love me is probably the best song of her career as it showcases maturity and vulnerability that we have not seen from Selena ever before. My personal favorite was A sweeter Place, an amazing collaboration with Kid Cudi with these great lyrics, production, hook, vocals. It was definitely my favorite song of 2020 Expand

Altough this album has some songs that were better if they didn´t existed, Rare shows a big growth in Selena´s carrer, proving to be her most challenging album, so far. Marked by it´s nostalgic and soft vocals, there are several songs on this album that are capable of making him remarkable.
    Top Track: People You Know
    Worst Track: Fun

Selenas fourth album feels like a rebirth. After all the chaos that insued in her life from her breakup with Justin Bieber, her diagnosis and battle with lupus and her transplant. She'd had to mature in those years. She seems more happy and at peace. Compiled of 13 sweet(Sometimes to a point of cliche) pop songs with not only obscure features but ones that detract from the album. The production though clear and cohesive is predictable, lackluster and uninspired which isn't helped by the bland choruses and juvenile lyrics that fail to convey the depth of her emotions. This is undoubtedly her best record which is a shame considering how much better it could've been if she had experimented more like exemplified in her singles "bad liar" & "fetish" but instead she took the safer route. This is a mediocre release in the grand scheme of the years brilliant outputs. Favourites:Lose You To Love Me,Sweeter Place. Expand

It is okay as an album but it is not for somebody like Selena. She had so much potential with the singles but it is very forgettable as a whole

definitely not worth listening. i’m not her fan at all, a long time passed since her last album, she’s been through a lot and i expected something different, grown up woman who says she moved on from her last relationship i expect to hear songs about something different, but no every song is about her boyfriend who let me remind you is happily married man. tracks on the album are in weirddefinitely not worth listening. i’m not her fan at all, a long time passed since her last album, she’s been through a lot and i expected something different, grown up woman who says she moved on from her last relationship i expect to hear songs about something different, but no every song is about her boyfriend who let me remind you is happily married man. tracks on the album are in weird order, not corresponding at all. such a mess, since i liked her songs from her first albums i expected a lot more. The marketing copy of this album defines it as being "Honest. Vulnerable. Rare" and for once, I have to agree. 'Rare' is to Selena Gomez what 'ARTPOP' was to Lady Gaga: “This album is a celebration. My pain exploding. It’s heavy, but after I listen to it, I feel happy again. I feel lighter.”

Gomez lets shine all her emotions, from the good ones to the most troubling ones, in all the tracks, travelling in a journey of self-discovery, healing and moving on. She does something bloody brilliant by letting her fans and the public see her real self, after years of silence in the media that speculated on her love life and her health.

On 'Rare' you will trully see an honest, vulnerable and Rare Selena Gomez. She is not shy of letting her emotions out in the world in this fantastic pop record that i find myself listening almost daily. A perfect statement that shows that you can have your lows, but ultimately come stronger in the end.

Rare is Selena's best but yet most controversial album. She really proved how mature she is but antis keep saying the album is not showing any growth. If you look closely to tracks: Vulnerable, Lose You To Love Me, She, etc. , you will see her growth and how she became a strong independent woman.

Rare continually teases intriguing forays into leftfield pop, but so many of the album’s experiments come off as just that, without ever crystallizing with memorable hooks.

The record she has delivered to kickstart a new decade is a career defining release, and from a pop star who is firmly back on top of her game.

While none of these 13 songs attempt the subtle weirdness of “Bad Liar” and the emotional thesis—self-love!—can be a bit one-note, Rare is the 27-year-old’s most cohesive record to date. ... But it’s difficult to come away from Rare with any real perspective on who Gomez is other than that she doesn’t want to be the person she was, whoever that similarly mysterious shadow was.
