    I think this is her second worst album. It is very catchy to listen to, but very repetitive. You can make R&B music with meaning too, it doesn't need to be completely about sex. 13/19 songs are about having sex all night. Which I have no problem with a few. Positions and 34+35 are bops. But 13 songs? That all sound similar AND have the same theme? I just don't get how she thought this wasI think this is her second worst album. It is very catchy to listen to, but very repetitive.     As a bts fan who used to love ari, I’m telling you this album is hands down the worst album of 2020!! It’s repetitive, lacks artistry, full of S E X and feels like the whole album is recycled for the 2000 time!
    Very bad album.

    it is the most mature album of Ariana Grande. She got back to her roots with R&B, this is the mixture of yours truly and sweetener, with the lyrics of Dangerous Woman. She was the main songwriter in all of the songs. The top 3 of the album for me: pov, just like magic and nasty. Congratulations Ariana, you deserve the world. I am so proud of you

    Album lacks the depth of thank u next. Songs quickly become too similar in sound and lyric. I found myself wanting more depth from Ariana lyrically. The R&B musical style was lacking as it felt like a misplaced rap album with aria light voice. Overall, too many slips. :(

    Acabei de ouvir o álbum e valeu muito apena esperar para ouvir agora de madrugada. A vibe do álbum é perfeita e os vocais estão incríveis ( sem forçar) e eu amei TODAS as músicas. Tenho orgulho de ter visto essa mulher crescer na indústria.

    a beautiful and cohesive album that held my attention the whole way through. ariana never fails to outdo herself and it’s no different this time around. it’s everything arianators have been asking for and i’m obsessed with it. the best tracks off the project are pov, just like magic, and six thirty.

    Ariana surely belted out notes that the angels can hear in the heavens, except the angels have heard that same style in her last 2 albums. This style suits her well, but it's one of her weakest bodies of work.

    I love love love Positions! It’s an amazing record, reminds me of sweetener (another amazing record). The only problem I have with it is that there are some skips. “shut up” and “six thirty” are very forgettable. OTHER THAN THAT, I love it!

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. her entire discography has been about dark times, scared to love, failed relationships, losing lover and personal traumatic events. positions is about getting up and finally giving love life a try again. why does she have to sing about dark horrible tragedy in order for her album to be considered "meaningful" do people expect her to sing about Manchester bombing, mac miller's death, big sean who must break up with his toxic girl (jhene aiko) all the time ? just because she wasn't on the verge of tears when she was singing this it doesn't mean there is no emotions behind the lyrics so what if the theme isn't about dark clouds just like thank u next & my everything.??????

    There's not enough variety in this album for me, the tracks are too similar. Luckily they're not bad tracks and overall pleasant to listen to, but there's nothing about this album that stands out to me. pov is a major highlight from this album - so great!

    A very beautiful album in my opinion, I love that Ariana has transitioned back to R&B with Positions as all the songs are very smooth and go perfectly with her voice, plus the collabs are incredibly fitting and the harmonies are gorgeous. The cohesiveness of Positions, thank u, next and sweetener and 'new' sound of Ariana forms a type of triology, out of which Positions lands on top. TheA very beautiful album in my opinion, I love that Ariana has transitioned back to R&B with Positions as all the songs are very smooth and go perfectly with her voice, plus the collabs are incredibly fitting and the harmonies are gorgeous. The cohesiveness of Positions, thank u, next and sweetener and 'new' sound of Ariana forms a type of triology, out of which Positions lands on top. The other hand of this album is the thin line between cohesion and repetitiveness - tracks like safety net, positions and pov stand-out a lot to me - they mesh beautifully with the entire album but on their own they shine even more and become addicting. Most of the other songs however barely stand out and feel like fillers for the more interesting tracks. Overall though, Positions is well-produced and feels like a great development from her last 2 albums.… Expand

    Positions is step back in Ariana's career if we compere it with her previous two albums Sweetener and Thank U, Next which were truly great albums. Album is very cohesive but at some point it turns in monotony. Lyrics are good and personal, production is also fine, but it's just something with this album that doesn't work properly, I'm afraid it will be forgotten quickly.

    Very underwhelming after the amazing "Thank You, Next." I like the vibe she's going for. I love that it's all about intimacy, but it's very one note. There are a handle of songs I enjoy that I return too: "34+35, Just Like Magic, Love Language, My Hair, POV", but for how long it is there are a lot of skips.

Ariana has solidified herself as a sophisticated pop star, she knows her strengths, she knows her style, she knows what works for her, it may be a rather anemic in performance sometimes compared to previous work (prob what she was going for, knowing she’sI hate that cover lmao but the album itself is very on par with her previous work, not sure why it fell between the chairs like it did. Ariana has solidified herself as a sophisticated pop star, she knows her strengths, she knows her style, she knows what works for her, it may be a rather anemic in performance sometimes compared to previous work (prob what she was going for, knowing she’s tired of just screaming or belting) but the vocals are still out of this world.. there are some top notch ariana golden classics - u just gotta look carefully. For my hoe ass that loves upbeat bubble pop songs - it was the overhated yet infectious 34+35 that stole my heart from the very first listen. I LOVED my hair and love language, to complete a respectable top 3. There are some fillers (uhm, just like magic) but u know that saying about trash and treasure lmao.     Grande is making no effort to be discreet, instead explicitly owning her sexuality—the album is called Positions, after all. The juxtaposition of beautiful violin sounds and risqué lyrics has become one of Grande’s signature sounds, and it suits her well.

    With little conflict and few psychological insights, Positions zeroes in on the enviable confidence that only pop stars on top of the world and with nothing to lose can afford. It's easy to write it off as empty calories, but pop has always been described in such terms: cake, candy, chocolate, confection. Positions isn't a "sweetener" but pure sugar.
