The songs are pretty basic and uninspired. I feel like the album was done in a few days. No potential hit, next singles are based on strong features.

Ariana Grande’s best album. a masterpiece, r&biana is iconic, so much better than pop. legendary.

Cohesive album, a completely different sound, a Pop-Trap, Soul/R&B but smooth and completely cohesive. Smooth vocals and without being overly screaming. Although Ariana Grande is in her comfort zone, it is a well-built album with layers of orchestra and simply adding notes from Wistle de Grande.

Good album, but not as best as her previous work. Should have been an EP with 34+35, just like magic, my hair, nasty, love language and pov. There are some songs in the album that feel lackluster such as west side and obvious. She releases music so quickly that she it’s just quantity over quality which is a shame. Dangerous Woman is still her best album to date.

honest & unbiased opinion here. okay album, loved the new sounds. the thing is that 11/14 of the songs sound the same. no flavor. expected more variation within sad songs, happy songs etc. also you’d hear a sad instrumental in the intro but it ends up being a happy song which just.... threw me off. thank u, next was her best album wbk. was expecting sex songs but not this much. does shehonest & unbiased opinion here. okay album, loved the new sounds. the thing is that 11/14 of the songs sound the same. no flavor. expected more variation within sad songs, happy songs etc. also you’d hear a sad instrumental in the intro but it ends up being a happy song which just.... threw me off. thank u, next was her best album wbk. was expecting sex songs but not this much. does she even have anything else to sing about except sex? her voice is very beautiful but this album was just... not it. I love Ariana, I waited all night for the premiere. I didn't disappoint. Ariana focuses on women's sexuality. That's very good in the current world

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It is Ariana at her most authentic and unapologetic point of her career, she comes to show that she is not a Nickelodeon turned pop sensation with the most immaculate pop rnb vocals and instrumentals. Ariana definitely shows her influence from a 60s vibe melodically yet she makes it a new and game changing sound with a trap beat. She gives you the most sexiest and erratic lyrics yet with class and dignity. This album might not be a fame changer as Sweetener and Thank U, Next, however this album is not the magnum opus but very important to her discography in it’s own way because it shows that Ariana is a fully grown woman diving deeper in womanhood than dangerous woman. I've never been a big Ariana fan, but damn this album is a masterpiece. This is hands down her best project so far. It's so mature and cohesive, and her vocals are on another level. People who expect a DW 2.0 might be quite disappointed, but this is not an immediate album. it has zero bangers and requires time to be fully appreciated and understood, and that's why I love it so much.

This just doesn’t do it for me. At this point, I don’t expect Ariana to be putting out lyrical masterpieces, but I figured she’d at least branch out and do something a little different this time around. I was wrong. So very wrong. There are only a couple of songs that I’d go back and listen to again; most of it is just boring. It’s like discount TUN. I wish Ariana would put more effortThis just doesn’t do it for me. I expected much more from Ariana. This album is the definition of generic. collabs are there just because the artist are popular. there is no depth in song writing . the only I am not giving it zero is because Ariana continues to be the vocal master

The album showed ariana's vocal ability (esp in my hair, pov) but it didn't fit in to the trap/rnb sound. Kind of the sound is overpowering her voice. The lyrics are average too and sometimes turning me off, especially tracks like six thirty and 34+35, considering she is expected to have artistic growth and lyrical depth as it is her 6th album. She could have done better.

This album is the worst album of year. It’s about only sex. It doesn’t have meaningful lyrics. I don’t like it.

Disappointing album. After releasing the peak of Ariana's career, Thank U, Next this album felt extremely stale, bored and safe. It felt like a filler album. I expected much more from Ariana. Disliked this album....

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Honestly I love this album, it is well produced vocally and in instrumentals, she served vocals and tried to differentiate it from other albums, but it still hasn't left her comfort zone, as it sinned in tracks that deserved much more as a "safety net", "west side" and "love language". Anyway, we cannot deny that she served VOCALS, taking as examples of this the various powerful whistles that she managed to execute in tracks like "my hair", "positions", "nasty" and even "safety net". even though it was pleasant for me, unfortunately the album has very few tracks that please EVERYONE at the beginning, for example I didn’t sympathize with several tracks, and today I really like them, I think it must be a matter of listening multiple times. Anyway, with that I finish my honest review of the album (I am 100% aware that my opinion is very different from the opinion of other people because I am a fan of Ariana.) Expand

Ariana really did the best work that she could´ve. She literally changed her genre and it´s not generic. She is used to do pop+trap, but now she is at the r&b/soul. There´s not the same old pop, because the album were not made for it! It´s amazing

Although it shouldn’t be a short time of production as the way to evaluate the quality of an album. But the disappointing quality of the album does make it feel like Ari needs more time to complete this.

pov is the best of this album

Grande is making no effort to be discreet, instead explicitly owning her sexuality—the album is called Positions, after all. The juxtaposition of beautiful violin sounds and risqué lyrics has become one of Grande’s signature sounds, and it suits her well.

Grande laid bare may well be seen as a stopgap in her canon, using taboo to checkmate her past trauma, but it does pull off the rare feat of at least sounding effortless.

With little conflict and few psychological insights, Positions zeroes in on the enviable confidence that only pop stars on top of the world and with nothing to lose can afford. It's easy to write it off as empty calories, but pop has always been described in such terms: cake, candy, chocolate, confection. Positions isn't a "sweetener" but pure sugar.
