There is no other word to best describe this album than boring. The lack of excitement motivates the listener to sleep and skip a considerable part of the tracks, which signs its completely tragic and bad content.

I loved the album, it's different from what she usually does and I loved it. It shows how she is overcoming, adapting to the things that happened and finally managing to move on after all, even sometimes needing a break for 34 + 35

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. After two emotionally striking eras, Ariana deserved the right to make this fantastic album. She clearly had fun making this music, as she deserves after 3 years of nonstop trauma and pain. This piece shows her personal growth, as well as her musical growth. Delivering the R&B album of our dreams, Ariana delivers fun, sexy music intermingled with her fears of falling in love again after experiencing two horrible breakups in the spotlight alongside her deteriorating mental health. This album has a song for everyone. For the fans who love a good upbeat song, she delivers 34+35, Nasty, and Positions. For the fans who want to be emotionally invested, she delivers Off The Table, Safety Net, and POV. And for the people who love an artist who experiments with a new sound, Grande delivers Shut up, My Hair, and Love Language. This is the perfect follow up to Sweetener and Thank U, Next. She doesn’t follow the patterns of her previous successes, and instead finds herself leading the music industry once again with this album. Let’s watch while everyone else follows in this superstar’s path. Expand

it's a beautiful album. it's like mixing sweetener and dangerous woman. i really loved how ariana expressed her confidence and putting her feelings into this album. just because this album is very explicit doesn't mean is bad. this and folklore are my favourite album released of 2020 so far. she truly deserve the attention and love she got. period.

“ Lots of banging, no bangers”

I wish this wasn’t true, but whoever said that, they didn’t lie. Ariana is missing from this album. Sorry Ari, this is the lowest of your albums and we hyped it for.. nothing

Ariana’s sixth studio album brings elements of our favorite 90’s divas and mixes it with jazzy undertones and her own 2020 lyricism and flow. Positions is Grande’s most understated work since Christmas & Chill - an EP it mimics with its sparkling but soft dinner music mellowness. It’s perhaps not the work we expected from her, but the quietness and subtlety of it makes it more daring and sophisticated of an artistic statement than a return to the Sweetener era would have been. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I really loved the Positions album but it may not be her best work. My favourite songs from this album are motive, 34+35 and nasty because they are the actual bops. My least favourite song from this album is shut up because I find the lyrics of the song very annoying and bothering. I think Ariana Grande did a great job delivering a mid tempo R&B and trap-pop album and I loved her impeccable vocals so much. I loved the collaborations from this album especially The Weeknd and Doja Cat. Her last two albums, Thank U, Next and Sweetener were the masterpieces of Ariana Grande’s music career. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Okay. Here’s my opinion on positions.

It’s her best work to date. The lyrics, production and vocals are top-notch. Critics and fans are expecting her to stay in “pop” era as she’s a beast in there but ari’s voice is literally perfect in r&b lane.

Grande is making no effort to be discreet, instead explicitly owning her sexuality—the album is called Positions, after all. The juxtaposition of beautiful violin sounds and risqué lyrics has become one of Grande’s signature sounds, and it suits her well.

Grande laid bare may well be seen as a stopgap in her canon, using taboo to checkmate her past trauma, but it does pull off the rare feat of at least sounding effortless.

With little conflict and few psychological insights, Positions zeroes in on the enviable confidence that only pop stars on top of the world and with nothing to lose can afford. It's easy to write it off as empty calories, but pop has always been described in such terms: cake, candy, chocolate, confection. Positions isn't a "sweetener" but pure sugar.
