I understand that there comes a time where artists don't really need to please the general public with their music and this album just didn't include me as part of its target demographic. I loved 'Thank You, Next', 'Dangerous Woman' & even 'Sweetener' but as much as I want to love this one, I just can't. It's not bad by any means but it's just not for me.

    Standout tracks for me were:
    1. pov - because the melody along with the lyrics just hits the right spot. It doesn't feel too much of an outright ballad that tries to flex her vocals but simply these said vocals were being used to narrate a story that is so beautifully well-written. 2. motive - I love an Ariana verse as much as the next person but my favorite part of this song was Doja Cat. She exudes this sexy and confident style of rapping that's not really too much but just enough to get the message across. 3. off the table - another collaboration but unlike motive I equally love the exchange between Ariana and Abel. The harmonies were everything. & that's it. I don't really have other songs I want to go back to. Kudos to Ariana though, she's still one of the best vocalists in our generation. This album just wasn't for me but I wish her the best with this one because as far as I heard, this reflects how happy she is with her life right now.    … Expand

    Perfection. Favourite songs are POV Love Language and My Hair. Very different to her usual sound but in a positive way. Haven’t really heard anything like it. Immediately my favourite album of hers - possible favourite album ever - and it’s only been 1 day. Some instant favourite songs and then there are some that grow on you. Ariana definitely shows her influence from a 60s vibe melodically yet she makes it a new and game changing sound with a trap beat. She gives you the most sexiest and erratic lyrics yet with class and dignity.     As an Arianator myself, been stanning since 2014, this album was amazing... was it her best.... no, but it definitely was a good album that’s worth listening to. Songs like POV, Safety Net, Nasty, My Hair, Motive and Love Language give this album so much power whereas songs like Shut Up and Six Thirty are easily forgettable and make the album fall short. My only critique for this album isAs an Arianator myself, been stanning since 2014, this album was amazing... was it her best.... no, but it definitely was a good album that’s worth listening to. Honestly I love this album, it is well produced vocally and in instrumentals, she served vocals and tried to differentiate it from other albums, but it still hasn't left her comfort zone, as it sinned in tracks that deserved much more as a "safety net", "west side" and "love language". Anyway, we cannot deny that she served VOCALS, taking as examples of this the various powerful whistles that she managed to execute in tracks like "my hair", "positions", "nasty" and even "safety net". even though it was pleasant for me, unfortunately the album has very few tracks that please EVERYONE at the beginning, for example I didn’t sympathize with several tracks, and today I really like them, I think it must be a matter of listening multiple times. Anyway, with that I finish my honest review of the album (I am 100% aware that my opinion is very different from the opinion of other people because I am a fan of Ariana.)… Expand

    I've never been a big Ariana fan, but damn this album is a masterpiece. This is hands down her best project so far. It's so mature and cohesive, and her vocals are on another level. People who expect a DW 2.0 might be quite disappointed, but this is not an immediate album. it has zero bangers and requires time to be fully appreciated and understood, and that's why I love it so much.

    Of couse her best album. This is her most cohesive work, each song connects perfectly to the other and none are out of place. Funny, sexy and emotional at the same time. There is nothing wrong with this piece of art.

    Ariana reinvents herself with each new album, positions bring an incredible sonority of a classic r & b is soft with touching melodies. Some audiences already used to the perfect pop may not understand the concept right away, but I'm sure they will feel the impeccable queen butera.

    Lyrically, the album is extremely clever, with the double enteandres managing to uplift both the more risqué songs along with the deeper tracks as well. The honesty and vulnerability displayed in this album does a great job of generating relatibility. From the endearing lyrics of pov,, to the brutally hones ones of 'shut up', you can't help but love the honesty of it all.

    Musically, Ariana and her producers managed to do something absolutely masterful. The ever present violins grounding each sing and string together the variety of sounds used. The actual songs themselves are nothing to scoff at either. From the scintillating sound of 'just like magic' to the hauntingly beautiful sounds of "safety net": everything is great. Speaking of......

    The features on this album did a phenomenal job. Doja's verse on 'motive' added new flavour to the song. Ty Dolla seemed to perfectly read exactly what 'safety net' needed, and managed to compliment Ariana's voice almost as well as the Weeknd. Which brings me to the final feature track. "Off the table is what many a musician would consider a masterpiece. The simple arrangement only aids this song, where the vocals are the driving factor. The lyrical back and forth created is both genius and melancholic in meaning. The lyrics are then amplified by a awe inspiring vocal showcase from Ari. The Weeknd tone manages to create a beautiful chemistry and harmony with Ariana (as well as making it seem he didn't get out sung, which he kinda did    … Expand

    Before listening to the album I was expecting a pop album, but the musics are much more R&B than anything. It was a very good surprise, the album lost points because all the musics are almost the same, they have the same pace, the same rhythm, the same vibe, and this factor was a bit disappointing. Some standout tracks of this album are "just like magic", a trap-pop song that speaks about Ariana spreading happiness, love, and light to everything she does while also pulling reference to the Law of Attraction— "34+35", a playful trap-pop song backed with exciting strings that explicitly plays around the 69 position— and lastly, but certainly not least: the gorgeous "my hair", an R&B song that sounds like it was taken from the past. Ariana sings about her iconic and well-known hair, while also showcasing her ethereal whistle registry.

    I love this album. The songs were very catchy and gave a very good vibe. The lyrics were amazing in my opinion. I personally think this album is one of her top 3 due to the amazing instrumentals and production in general.

    es uno de sus mejores albumes transmite paz, y la letra de 34+35 es explicita per me gusta como ariana lo maneja definitivamente ha madurado mucho que gran trabajo discografico

    obably none of us were expectin this kind of style, cause she's more of a pop-ish singer, but this caught my 5 senses. the vocals are amazing and im pretty sure we havent seen ariana like this in a looong time. probably if you are gradin this from a pop-ish pov is not the best thing ariana has made, but as a R&B album this is beautiful.

    Positions is definitely an album of the year material. It goes from soft, to sexy, romantic, upbeat, dramatic songs and ends with an inspiring ballad, without losing its coherence.

    Álbum cheio de autenticidade, Ariana não surpreende ninguém ao mostrar impecaveis sonoridades. Quem é fã notou alguns elementos de sweetener e Yours Truly. Porém faltou o pop da Grande de Thank U, next. É ao mesmo tempo uma obra com suas características e uma de nova expressão para carreira da cantora.

O album se destaca por ser um estilo R&B traz um suave album as canções "Motive" com a parceria com a doja cat é maravilhosa e dançante, já em "Safety net" com parceria com o Ty Dolla $ing e é uma música calma que você dá para ouvir repetidamente, é o que falar de "love language"? A batida sensacional e o ritmo de discoteca destaca no álbum. Já em "My hair" Os vocais maravilhosos sao impossível de nao notar, e em "Off the table" com parceria com o The Weeknd Posso dizer é a incrível como os vocais dele se completa é maravilhoso.
    E em "Positions" Além de ter um vídeo clipe Representado uma mulher no cargo de presidente foi tudo pra min passou uma mensagem linda.

    It's Ariana's most beautiful and well done body of work. If you all don't like r&b-pop just leave it. Don't even release a rating because it won't be objective. I really love this album so much. She did that.

    Grande is making no effort to be discreet, instead explicitly owning her sexuality—the album is called Positions, after all. The juxtaposition of beautiful violin sounds and risqué lyrics has become one of Grande’s signature sounds, and it suits her well.

    With little conflict and few psychological insights, Positions zeroes in on the enviable confidence that only pop stars on top of the world and with nothing to lose can afford. It's easy to write it off as empty calories, but pop has always been described in such terms: cake, candy, chocolate, confection. Positions isn't a "sweetener" but pure sugar.
