Madame X is Madonna’s most bizarre and ambitious album since “American Life”. This record is the lovechild of her magnum opus, 2005’s “Confessions On A Dance Floor” and the iconic “Like A Prayer” But with a modern twist. The album opens with the sexy Latin pop track “Medellin“ featuring Maluma. The duo’s vocals blend ever so smoothly while chanting lyrics to one another. “Dark Ballet” isMadame X is Madonna’s most bizarre and ambitious album since “American Life”. “Dark Ballet” is one of the most out there songs on the album featuring a long piano break and a theatrical robotic chant and a spoken word Interlude. Madonna Is completely unapologetic telling those who disagree to I will not denounce the things that I have said”. The song is hauntingly beautiful witty an eerie tone. God control is a disco masterpiece with an enchanting and odd chorus. “Future” is a low point of the album playing it safe production wise and feeling a bit out of place on the record. The song could have been decent if it didn’t feature Quavo who just sounds bored. “Batuka” is cute with an almost tribal feel where we hear the Lisbon influence on the record filled with drums and chants. “Killers Who Zaire Partying” is one of the boldest tracks on the album yet that’s not necessarily a good thing. The song isn’t bad it simply drains on too long. “Crave” is one of the catchiest tracks on the record yet doesn’t feeling generic. Swae Lee’s vocals perfectly complement Madonna’s as the two sing about lov. It’s an absolutely beautiful song. “Crazy” is one of the least discussed tracks on the record but is also one of the best! Madonna’s lines of Portuguese add something special and pleasing to the song. The track is slower paced giving a relaxing vibe. This song goes through Madonna’s thoughts longing for love and and telling her lover she isn’t”wont let you drive me crazy” but my favorite lyric is the nostalgic “I bend my knees for you like a Prayer”. Madonna has this magic in giving nods to her older work. “Rebel heart” was filled with it aswell. Come Alive is a poppy fun track with simple and pleasant production. “Extreme Occident” is a darker track with a twangy instrumental. Still trying to decipher the lyrics in this one but it’s very intriguing. “Faz Gostoso” is the most upbeat and fun song on the album featuring Anitra. They’re vocals blend so well you can barely tell who is who. This song is so well done. I can see it taking off and smashing the charts if chosen as a single. **** I’m Loca” is another collab with Maluma yet almost a polar opposite of the first. This track is upbeat and sexy. For some reason I have an odd love for the way Madge pronounces **** “I Dont Search i find” sounds like a B-side to a Confessions on a dance floor. It’s an absolute masterpiece straight out of 70’s disco. “Looking For Mercy” is a longing ballad with some of her best vocals on the album. “I Rise” finished off the record perfectly with replay value and catchy lyrics. It’s an anthem for gun control and and peace. This record is powerful. There’s parts that make you dance, parts that make you cry, and parts that make you feel nostalgic for the past. Madonna took a huge risk on this album. Her 14th studio record and she isn’t slowing down. Madonna’s ambition alone deserves endless praise. This is her greatest record in over a decade. Madame X is a masterpiece. . discusses Expand

This is a great album. Madonna has never disappointed me. Us diehard fans always felt she is the most relevant artist of all time. I'm happy she's still around to make me feel like i'm in my teens waiting for the midnight sale to go buy her albums (hence True Blue 1986) diehard till the end.

Another great masterpiece from Madonna. Fearless in her career. One of her most creative albums since American Life. The ballsy Madonna is back. God Control must be the next single.

I'd say in my honest opinion, Madame X is one of Madonna's best records since Confessions On A Dance Floor. Some of my personal favorites from Madame X are, "Crave" featuring Swae Lee, "Dark Ballet", "I Rise" which is iconic at best, as well as her stunning "Looking For Mercy" and her heart throbbing powerful ballad, "Extreme Occident" which I liked a lot. "Batuka" is another amazing track that is flooded with African Culture, and is a really catchy track by Madonna. "Medellin", and **** I'm Loca" featuring Maluma, are really interesting and catchy, and are some of Madonna's most creative works of art in this century alone. Another catchy tune I liked was, "I Don't Search, I Find" which is very creative, and is an aspiring Disco infused EDM track, which brings her back to her 90's roots, like "Vogue", "Deeper And Deeper", and some of her early 2000's work, Music, and American Life.

I'd say I would give this a perfect 10 based on it's creativity that Madonna put into this record. Madame X has done it again!

This is truly a masterpiece. She achieves to combine different musical genres without losing her identity. A musical journey worth listening to. Madame X is an album you need to listen without prejudice. It is Madonna experimenting and taking risks no other artist of her size would ever take. Just brilliant.

Madonna at 60, showing that there is no age to reinvent herself again. The record starts with the fresh, latin-oriented track "Medellin" with colombian star "Maluma". As the record goes on and Madonna sings "I had a dream and I woke up in medellin" she certainly wakes up on the next tracks. Those gets a different take on Madonna. The Madonna on full rage political mode. "Dark Ballet" picks up right after he 1989 iconic canon-song "Like a Prayer" and it leads us to "God Control" (the climax of the record for me). God Control give us 90's Madonna vibes at her best (so does I don't search, I find). Then Madonna takes us to morocco, cabo verbe, Portugal, Brazil. It's really a global album. It finishes with "I Rise". One of her best tracks on this decade. This is a 10/10 album that only a very inspired Madonna could deliver. She gives pop creativity at best and geniality. We live in a Madonna world and Madame X borrows it from her. Expand

Overall, Madonna’s fourteenth album Madame X feels as if Mirwais had mostly completed a decent run-of-the-mill modern pop record, albeit with a cool hotch-potch global feel; hip nods in place to fado, dub and other micro-genres dunked amongst the trap and retro disco. But then just before sign-off, Herself went through the top-lines with a sharpie. ... None of these carefully curated flourishes feel as if they truly live inside the ‘whole’ of this music. Instead it all feels plonked on top of a template.

Madonna has created this music for an audience of one: Herself. Often it works. Sometimes it doesn’t.
