One has to admire that after 14 studio albums and unprecedented success throughout her entire career, Madonna still refuses to rest on her laurels! Madame X is brilliant, breathtaking and ballsy!!! Favourite tracks (currently) are Killers Who Are Partying, Extreme Occident and of course God Control.

An excellent album!!! I recognize that I was surprised to hear, few artists have the courage to risk like Madonna, she knows how to reinvent herself and not only live in the glories of past successes and thus being able to be recognized for her innovations, the album has a mix of sounds. Her best work since confessions and it’s a great pop album for 2019. Mirwais has done amazing job and Madonna plays her part greatly! If this album was Ariande’s it Swift’s then it would be applauded by the critics.

It's Madonna at its most provocative essence since American Life. An album that did not come to follow trends or play streamings, because she sings away from the comfort zone and with her feet on the ground, when she says in Portuguese that the world is wild and the road is lonely. Lonely because they are few artists with their visibility giving voice to causes that need to be heard. The scenario she describes in God Control is frighteningly the picture of a global politics we live here in Brazil or the USA. Madonna proves in Madame X how much is needed and once again unites pop and art under the eyes of an artist who has seen a lot and feels privileged to be able to continue being heard. Madame X enters the Hall of her great albums and best of all is when she says that it will not stop just because you want. Long life the queen Expand

Madame X is the newest innovation of pop, we leave these cheesy and senseless songs, and plunge into the music era as her true art. Once again, Madonna proves that she is the Queen of Pop and no one has picked up her crown, she launches the trend and in a while, we will see many artists doing their songs, with the same sonority of Madame x.

I always worry when I see so many collaborations on a Madonna album, especially rappers, as for the last decade she's been featuring them on her albums and going the wrong way about it. She did it right here. Really right. Faz Gostoso is probably her best song in recent history.

Vida longa a rainha Expand

Expand

An interesting concept, executed poorly. Lyrically patchy, questionable collaborations, and so much vocal processing that you feel like you are not hearing Madonna, but hearing her computer. Madonna has done vastly better. This album will not go down in history as one of her finest.

The pace plods on some mid-tempo tracks, but overall this is a personal, politically-charged mix of dark thoughts and good vibes. [Aug 2019, p.88]

Overall, Madonna’s fourteenth album Madame X feels as if Mirwais had mostly completed a decent run-of-the-mill modern pop record, albeit with a cool hotch-potch global feel; hip nods in place to fado, dub and other micro-genres dunked amongst the trap and retro disco. But then just before sign-off, Herself went through the top-lines with a sharpie. ... None of these carefully curated flourishes feel as if they truly live inside the ‘whole’ of this music. Instead it all feels plonked on top of a template.

Madonna has created this music for an audience of one: Herself. Often it works. Sometimes it doesn’t.
