    Excellent song writing, lyrics and production combine the envelop the listener in Taylor’s world, specificity translating to the universal has always been a hallmark of her writing and in this album it is at it’s best. Unbound by genre this album is free and joyous. Easily her best since red.

    I love the great variation of lyrics and different styles of music in her songs. The lyrics are deep and intimate, it's like getting to know more about Taylor. Swift also goes through the different types of love and all its different forms: true love (Lover),Lover is a breathe of fresh air in today’s pop music. Major topics are explored with this album, such as sexism (The Man), politics (Miss Americana), supporting the LGBT community (You Need To Calm Down) and trying to cope with a family member battling cancer (Soon You’ll Get Better). Swift also goes through the different types of love and all its different forms: true love (Lover), struggling with self-love (The Archer), the freedom and joy of moving on from a toxic past love (I Forgot That You Existed). The major highlights that come from Lover, are the deep cuts. Afterglow is a top favorite. Swift’s vocals are powerful and possibly some of her best. The chorus hits and she lets out a belt confessing her fault and wanting to work things out. The lyrics are crafted well, while the beat is impactful while the electric guitar mixes so well with it all. Swift had spoken in the past about refraining from using horns in her music. She really shows her "Lover" side and the album sticks to it's theme very well which a lot of the times artists fail to do. Many of the tracks have a vintage feeling to it which is definitely something new from Taylor. Once again she has released a new album with brand new content which she has not showcased on the previous albums. Like Taylor had said before the release of this album, it's not all gonna be happy love songs and that you can find something romantic in a lot of things like heartbreak, lonliness etc. Taylor managed to fulfill her promise. Afterglow is a song that talks about Taylor owning up to her mistakes in a relationship but how she doesn't want to lose her partner. Archer is a very sad song about anxiety and lonliness, but still it manages to keep the "Lover" theme. Just everything about the songs give that "love" energy.
    The lyrics are just perfect. We have various lyrics that go very deep whether they're about feelings or politics. For example "Miss Americana & The Heartbreak Prince" which is a one huge metaphore for Americas current political state. Taylor's vocals also are stronger than ever. We can see her showcasing her vocal abilities in tracks like "Afterglow" and "Cruel Summer". Taylor also uses a lot of her falsetto on this album which really fits the songs very well.
    This album deserves all the love it gets because of it's theme, vocals, complexity and lyrics. It's Taylors best album to this date for it's maturity and the ability to paint a picture for the listener.    … Expand

It's not too poppy and it's not too sad, it's a perfect mix. This album shows Taylor Swift at her best, nothing used to draw attention to it but the happiness she feels and it radiates in this album. Even with the sad tracks it still leaves room for hope.

    People is rating the album with 0s just because the fact that they hate Taylor, unbelievable. We all know that halft (or even more) of the people that have scored it with a 0 or a 1 or whatever haven't even heard it. If you can't help yourself from doing these type of inmature things, maybe you need help or something. If you don't like an album, you dont listen to it, so you can NOT ratePeople is rating the album with 0s just because the fact that they hate Taylor, unbelievable.     It’s an incredible, amazing album and deserves way higher than it should be. It’s a shame that other fandoms feel the need to give it a 0 review because they’re mad that Taylor has an amazing album that’s doing well.

    I don't give a 10 just because I didn't like the first single, but all the other tracks are quite remarkable, expecially Cornelia Street.

    This album is incredible. Taylor has poured her heart and soul into these songs which she finally owns herself. This album will change the way you think about love and put you through so many different emotions especially with Soon You'll Get Better, a heartfelt song about her mum being sick. Beautiful album with so many favourites

    I'm sure a lot of us were nervous about how the album would sound but Taylor being Taylor, proved us wrong and made us know who's the older and this generation's songwriter and artist. The only person who is on her level in terms of album quality is probably Adele. She always one ups herself in everything she does and you see that constantly in Lover.

    A wonderful roadtrip to the 80s music, and you can tell that she's really in a better place right now. I'm so proud of how far she has come from the beginning of her career until now. I have so much respect for all the efforts she put on every album she makes and the way she's hands-on the lyrics and production of each song. Favorites are Afterglow, Lover, Cruel Summer, False God, I thinkA wonderful roadtrip to the 80s music, and you can tell that she's really in a better place right now.     Lover is a fabulous record, full of super-fun standout pop hits that make your heart burst. It oozes with Swift’s much more palatable upbeat sass. She’s in love and also thinking about different kinds of love.
