I enjoy Kylie's ability to explore genre after genre, without tripping up on her dancing shoes. Golden isn't exactly as the title implies. A few missteps do occur on this album. I give it a 6, because anything is better than that god awful Xmas album being re-released AGAIN.

And here on 'Golden', she finds herself trapped in a Texas bar, pleaing the audience buys the album, so we can get the next Kylie next album! And while I have bought the album and will stream it endlessly for a bit, I find myself "meh" with this album overall. Just please support this album so her next one can be better! Maybe Disco Kylie comeback in the 2020s? Expand

Let's get one thing clear, this isn't a Country record, to market it as such was a mega mistake in my opinion. A few banjo twangs added to pop tracks does not make this a country record in any way shape or form.
What this is, is a classy pop record, that sees Kylie move away from an electronic sound, to a more instrument based sound.

Overall, it's a great pop record. It's mature, personal and feels classy throughout, and her voice sounds beautiful on most tracks, particularly on the ballads/mid-tempo numbers. There's also enough electronic-twinged tracks present to keep the long-time fans happy, 'Raining Glitter' and the incredible (single worthy) 'Every Little Part of Me' - how this was a bonus track is beyond me.
The only real missteps here are the vocally weak, 'One Last Kiss' & 'Love', and the try-too-hard 'Low Blow'.
It's a fun era for Kylie, but let's hope she returns to where she belongs and dominates soon.... the dance floor.

Kylie returns with a subpar pop effort. Unfortunately there is nothing or exciting but rather a sound that is like a cross between Dragonette and any number of top 40 country tracks. Kylie really could have created a beautiful Dolly Parton inspired record, instead it sounds like the misguided attempt to again be a top pop star.

We have to give it to Kylie. 3 decades, almost 4 into her career. 14 albums, countless singles and many of millions of sales later and she still has a spark to offer to the world.

Despite having a few greyish songs on the album, as a whole, I would say the album is definitely golden. Is it her best album? No. Far from it, however, that’s not to say that the album isn’t good because that

Despite having a few greyish songs on the album, as a whole, I would say the album is definitely golden. Is it her best album? No. Far from it, however, that’s not to say that the album isn’t good because that would just be a lie. The album is excellent, and in a world where music is based on trends and jokes, and not necessarily down to the music, Kylie is there to show that no matter what, music is always the one thing that matters and she still withholds that title of being a true music icon.

At this point, I almost feel reflective of her career and it’s actually quite emotional to watch. To see this woman who is loved by so many, and has made such a huge impact on music, still do what she loves, in the way that she wants to without having the pressure of the modern age, and to do it so well, is fantastic. She’s always doing the latest but in true Kylie style, and when you know someone’s creating music, and it has the same affect to what it did at the beginning of their career, that’s when you know that you have a real artist, and she has constantly done that, without not being true to herself, and being outside of the box also.

I would love to see Kylie stick around for another 3 decades, with another 14 albums because that’s what we deserve. A true icon.

Eu ainda olhei assim pra Kylie e falei: Você vai trazer um álbum com pop farofa pra bater cabelo na balada né?" Você fez assim... VOCÊ CONFIRMOU QUE IA TER FAROFA! JOANNE O MUNDO TE ABOMINA

While I do enjoy artists jumping out of their comfort zones and trying something new, Kylie just really couldn't pull off a country style. It was quite a sad attempt at replicating the sounds of Nashville. The most country element to it was having guitars in instrumentals. Ultimately, there is a place for this kind of music, but it feels horribly dated.

Apart from the smattering of country inflections, there are no great surprises in store.
  3. As a pop product, the album performs its function--and it’s commendable of Minogue to experiment with a different sound. It’s just a shame to hear a pop queen like Kylie seeming to buy into tacky generic artifice because it happens to be in vogue.
