This album sounds like nothing she’s ever done before, simultaneously it sounds like all of her albums combined together. So far this is my favorite thing she’s ever done.

It gets better with every listen, not a single skip.

Beautiful storytelling. Taylor pulls back from her usual songwriting about her own life and embraces a wispy, romantic world of teen love. Every lyric is packed full of longing and imagery. A wonderful surprise and one of her best works.

It’s also really gratifying to also see this kind of growth in an artist. As someone who’s listened and enjoyed her music since her debut, with every album you can see the development of her skill - be it songwriting, vocally or experimentation with different genres - and it feels as though this is a culmination of all of that. It’s the most comprehensive work Taylor has put out thus far and the most glaringly joyful thing about it is that you can tell that it was made purely for herself because she wanted to create - not for big stadium tours or to get any awards / acclaim (though it deserves all of that too) but just because at the end of the day she’s a songwriter who writes amazing songs and uses them to tell stories - whether her own or others.

Parece como si hubiera sacado Daylight, Afterflow, The Archer, It’s Nice to Have a Friend y las hubiera copiado y pegado para ponerlas primero.

Not only it’s her best album, it’s also one of the best albums released this year! Taylor’s talent to switch genres to suit her imaginary and stories best never fails to amaze me.

I have been waiting 8 years for a folk-pop album from Taylor ever, since she released Red. I know a large part of her fanbase was hoping for a return to the more muted and lyrical stylings of Red and Speak Now. So wonderful that she delivered. More so, this album is more amazing than I could ever have imagined. I hope she continues down this path of continually evolving her music.

This album is the best album Swift has ever put out. It is cohesively a body of work that jumps from lane to lane but still stays on the same highway production wise. But through the story telling of the lyrics the songs feel vibrant and expressive, reminding many fans of her fourth studio album “Red”. It is cohesively a body of work that jumps from lane to lane but still stays on the same highway production wise. But through the story telling of the lyrics the songs feel vibrant and expressive, reminding many fans of her fourth studio album “Red”. Swift’s ability to showcase a love triangle from each side through the songs “August”, “Cardigan” and “Betty” is the most incredible conceptual writing Swift has ever done. This entire album took a step back from her autobiographical style of writing and instead of writing every song from her point of view she placed herself in the shoes of others or her past self. On the track “The Last Great American Dynasty” Swift tells the story of Rebekah Harkness, the woman who previously owned Swift’s house in Rhode Island. This album’s lyricism on deep-cut tracks such as “Exile”, “This is Me Trying” and “My Tears Ricochet” show off Swift’s ability to make heart wrenching tracks without even being heartbroken, which she showed it previously on “Lover” with a track called “Death by a Thousand Cuts”. This album is a collection of deep-cut tracks and countless stories that no one has ever told. The albums fluid feeling allows for songs too feel as if they just fade into one another. For some artists this means that the songs all sound the same but the production has nothing to do with this statement. The feeling comes from Swift’s ability to write so beautifully on each track that the same energy is feels as if it is pushed onto the next track. “Folklore” is not only the best album Swift has put out, but it’s one of the best albums that has been released in a while. This album is so genre bending with its inclusion of pop sounds to folky country sounds all on just one track it is set out to be an album with songs for everyone. Though it’s ability to get radio play may be not be as high as her previous albums because it is not straight down the line pop, country or anything in-between, the album bends the rules with that as well. The song “Cardigan” has already been heard on Pop radio by many, showing Swift’s true power as not only a musical artist, but a global superstar. This album will be hard to too by other artists, but even harder for Swift to top as well. Expand

Cohesive masterpiece of Swift's. Definitely her best. The tracks all mesh and flow together so well that's its insanely mindblowing. This album also features Bon Iver on her song "exile" ,their voices together sound soothing. No skips found on this album. Jack and Taylor combination are always her best works which is really evident in this album. I generally dont like writing reviews butCohesive masterpiece of Swift's. Definitely her best. Swift returns to her shelf in the BEST way possible, the storytelling, the connections between every song, the fact that in this album you feel the sense of who is actually Taylor Swift but with a different Taylor Swift. It's a sharp turn to the left for Swift and a fine reminder that she is more than just a gleaming pop phenomenon, but a remarkable songwriter too. [Oct 2020, p.36]

A modern-folk masterpiece which finds her moving from her previous pop bangers into stunningly simple yet sharp melodies, ‘folklore’ will be going down in Swiftie history as one of her most unexpected, and undoubtedly one of her best.

These 16 tracks (17 on the deluxe version) play out quite pleasurably in their entirety, the joins between Swift, Dessner and Antonoff ultimately only of niche interest. But Swift’s powerful songs reach their climaxes with bittersweet orchestrations, rather than blows to the solar plexus or a ringing in the ears. Everything hovers; little truly lands.
